Hi, still can’t get it to work at this end. I have just tried Firefox with no luck.

When I went back to Edge and read the whole message it mentioned something about having a time out. So maybe my internet is running slow at the moment and this is why it isn’t working. I will try again at a different time and see if that works.

Well it is probably time I should go to sleep now since I have to get up in about four hours.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, Debby. Use the X key to see if there is a check box on the page. This is how you can tell if there is a captcha. If there is one, usually it will say,

I'm not a robot, check box not checked. If you are using Chrome, and are signed into Google, it will allow you to verify that you are not a robot after you check the check box.

Hi All,

This thread reminds me of the problem I have been having doing a change of address on the USPS site—that’s the US Postal Service. I get all the way down the page filling in the basic information, and then you are supposed to press a “next” button. Well, I have tried all of the options people have given here, but nothing works to activate that button. I have reported it to USPS, and of course they said that they will route the problem to the appropriate department. Their suggestion was that I have my mail carrier bring me a paper form or get one at the post office. Of course that’s ironic because that is what I was trying to avoid. There is a chance that there might be a CAPTCHA on the page, but if it is there, it is well hidden. I will probably have AIRA do it, but if anyone has a solution, I would like to hear it.

I thought that maybe I was making an error on the page, but I have tried it so many time that I can’t imagine that is the issue. I have tried it with NVDA and the USSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSP app   on my iPhone, and no go.

Take care and stay Safe!

If these methods don’t work, try turning on the JAWS cursor, locating the button with that cursor, then pressing Jaws key+the PC key. This used to work often, but less so lately.

Then if that fails, try the touch cursor, shift-PC key and locating the button in case pressing enter works.

It crosses my mind that turning off JAWS and going with Narrator might be an option, but I’ve never tried it.

Little is more frustrating than going through an entire form, only for the last button not to work with a screenreader.

Have you tried using a different browser to see if the results are the same?  Also, after pressing spacebar or enter on the confirmation button try pressing, Insert + escape, to refresh / repaint the screen and see if that'll help.  I've found that on many websites the chromium browsers are slow to respond to key commands.

Hi, all,  I am on a website trying to set up a date and time for a phone interview. I was able to choose the date, and then it gave a list of times available for that date. There is a definite button for each date to choose, but when I enter on the one I want it doesn’t confirm it. I’ve tried actually selecting it and pressing enter and a few other things but nothing works. Any help is appreciated in advance. Using win 10, jaws 2019. Judy & Libby

Hi, I’m using Edge on Windows 10. I tried a couple of times with no luck however I am able to access other sites. Since you can get it working it is something on my side. I will give it another go soon and if it still doesn’t work I will try another browser. This is the first time I have had any problems accessing a site with Edge.

Tom,

The page listing all of the NWS RSS Feeds and Podcasts is:  https://www.weather.gov/rss

I don't know exactly what report or region you're looking for.  The type of report is generally covered in the links on that page, and once you activate the one you want the specific RSS URLs for that type of report are presented on the page that comes up.  On this site the URLs for the actual feeds end in .XML.  The use of the XML extension is very common.  I think that .RSS is used often as well, but not there.

I don't see why those shouldn't work.  Personally, I find that method to be "the long way."  There is an Add item in the context menu for the RSS Feed entry in the Outlook Folder Tree and it pretty much walks you right through adding the feed URL that you have.

This is one of those, "It's not rocket science," sort of things.  More of a "fill in the blank with the correct RSS Feed URL" and hit OK.  (There may be a couple of more steps, but I don't want to fully configure an RSS Feed I don't want.)

Described Movies from Jeff

Jeff Rutkowski is someone who has provided a lot of movies and TV shows audio files for live streaming or downloading. Here is the first paragraph from his web site followed by the link.
Welcome to my described movies page. To listen to any of these movies, simply click on or press enter on the link. If you wish to download them, access your applications menu and select the "save link as" or "Save target as" option. Please note: I try to make sure that all links listed on this page work, and few to no duplicated movies exist but, I may have missed a few here and there. If you find duplicate links or links that lead to a non-working movie, feel free to contact me at jrutkowski7 at gmail Jeff Rutkowski's Described Movie's page

Audio Vault

Audio Vault is another site that is also linked from Jeff Rutkowski's page, but here is the direct link. Note, you have to sign up for a free account to download described audio files from the Audio Vault, much like the way the Blind Mice Movie Vault works, only easier.

Blind Mice Mega Mall Movie Vault

Once you have established a free account you can go directly to the Movie Vault where they have MP3 files of movie soundtracks with audio description.
To create an account, go to their main page: Blind Mice Mega Mall Then, you can use the next link to go directly to the movie vault. Note, you will have to login but then you will be on the movie vault page.

Most TV's now have the ability to turn on the Audio Description channel, often it is the Secondary Audio Programing feature under the audio controls. If your TV does not have that, check with your cable company about how to access their content with audio description.

If you are an xFinity customer you can call their accessibility help desk: 855-270-0379

If you have an iPhone, go to Settings, General, Accessibility. In the section titled Media, you can enable Subtitles and Captioning. Only enable that if you want VoiceOver reading the captions. The next item is Audio Descriptions, it defaults to off, double tap to turn it on using VoiceOver. This way, things you stream with audio description should play the audio description automatically. Some services will require you to select description from the audio controls within their app.

Hello All,

My computer crashed, and I lost the information posted here a while back about a good audio description web site.  I had tried and liked the site.  Can someone give me that link again?  Boy, computer crashes are sure not fun.

And while I am not saying it's a perfect world, I think the fact that just about everything which is released on Netflix and Disney nowadays is audio described is pretty cool.

Actually Sieghard, he did provide a link.  It is a petition to make all films, TV, etc., with audio description.

Not to be a killjoy, but this has been being asked for over many, many years.

Since you didn't provide any links it would be nice to give a bit more information as to what this petition is all about. I know you say "Audio Description" in the subject, but this is pretty vague.
