If these methods don’t work, try turning on the JAWS cursor, locating the button with that cursor, then pressing Jaws key+the PC key. This used to work often, but less so lately.
Then if that fails, try the touch cursor, shift-PC key and locating the button in case pressing enter works.
It crosses my mind that turning off JAWS and going with Narrator might be an option, but I’ve never tried it.
Little is more frustrating than going through an entire form, only for the last button not to work with a screenreader.

Have you tried using a different browser to see if the results are the same? Also, after pressing spacebar or enter on the confirmation button try pressing, Insert + escape, to refresh / repaint the screen and see if that'll help. I've found that on many websites the chromium browsers are slow to respond to key commands.

Hi, all, I am on a website trying to set up a date and time for a phone interview. I was able to choose the date, and then it gave a list of times available for that date. There is a definite button for each date to choose, but when I enter on the one I want it doesn’t confirm it. I’ve tried actually selecting it and pressing enter and a few other things but nothing works. Any help is appreciated in advance. Using win 10, jaws 2019. Judy & Libby

I have gotten confirmation buttons to work by turning off virtual mode, Insert+Z, and then navigating to the confirmation button with the tab key and hitting enter on it, again, with virtual mode turned off.

Robbie Curtis
Good Evening,
Have a question to see if any of you are having this issue. I am trying to access the menu for Laragon through the system tray. When I do, the menus are not showing or telling me which item I am arrowing to. It occasionally says submenu but cannot determine what's inside. I am using windows 10 and JAWS 2021. Looking forward to any replies and suggestions.

Re: brouser
Also, in reality, as far as I'm concerned there are only two classes of browser:
1. Chromium-based browsers. These include MS-Edge, Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi (which now has an e-mail client included in the browser in its latest release as an option), Epic, Torch, and others. 2. Non-Chromium Based Browsers. Firefox being the most obvious of the lot. And I have never used any non-Chromium browser other than Firefox for years. Anyone comfortable with any one of the Chromium-based browsers should be able to slide, with ease, into one of the others. But I always like to have Firefox, too, in case the sticking point is something in the Chromium code base that all the browsers built upon it share. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not. ~ André Gide

I'm using Windows 10 on my laptop. If you asked me a couple of months ago, I would have said, without hesitation, Edge was it for me. I started a job in April, and they required Google Chrome. That browser works well also. Having more than one browser can come in handy, because some sites work better in one than another with JAWS. If you only want a single browser for your use, Edge does a good job, and it's part of Windows 10. Hope this helps. I'm by no means a power user in this area, so others' opinions are welcome. Have a blessed day and don't work too hard. Kevin and Jilly

Re: How can I stop JAWS speach being included in recordings using the latest version of Total Recorder ?
leonard morris
I have been using Total Recorder professional addition for fifteen years or mor and I got it to work without it recording the screen reader once. However, when I had to do a new install on another PC I could never get it to record properly again. So, if someone has a solution post it please! (smile) Having said that I found this information on the web regarding this specific issue.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
http://www.totalrecorder.com/screen_readers.htm If recording in Background recording mode is impossible or you have the Standard Edition of Total Recorder, then set Total Recorder to record in Software mode using the Total Recorder kernel-mode audio driver. For this: Launch the installation of Total Recorder. In the third step of the installation wizard (next to accepting the License Agreement) click Advanced... button. In the Total Recorder driver dialog opened uncheck all options but Install kernel-mode virtual device driver. Hit OK. Complete the installation. Then reboot. Set a screen-reader to use directly your soundcard driver (not Total Recorder driver).
