I experienced the problem whether I used JAWS, NVDA, or Narrator. because of this, I suspected there was a glitch with Firefox.

That may be true, but I wouldn't automatically assume problems are occurring because of an older JAWS version. Many of us are not using the latest JFW and most things work just fine, and there is often something you can do on the application end of things to make stuff work better. In this case, I don't think the problems with Firefox are related to jAWS in any way -- but I'll know for sure within a few days, probably.

Well your best bet is use JAWS 2021. If you can't afford to upgrade yes you should use another browser such as Edge chromium. Sorry, but you run into these things when someone is still running older versions of JAWS.

Troubleshooting -> Restart -> Refresh cycle for FF to work again.

messing with them to figure out where the problem is.

It does exactly what it says -- refreshes and resets. It might be a fix in certain situations, if elements of the browser get corrupted for isntance. It has happened on occasion that either just before or after an update things get really slow with this browser -- a refresh has occasionally resolved this issue. It may be related to the personal user experience and how one uses the browser.

Okay, I should say I just tried restarting FF with extensions disabled and it now works. Guess I need to go through my extensions and try disabling them one at a time.

You’ll be notified, but the updates will not install automatically, at least not for quite some time (it’s possible that eventually some security-related updates will be pushed automatically regardless of your choice)…

By default they are installed automatically, there is an option to be notified only under firefox settings

Well your best bet is use JAWS 2021. If you can't afford to upgrade yes you should use another browser such as Edge chromium. Sorry, but you run into these things when someone is still running older versions of JAWS.

You get to the options from the tools menu. About from the help menu, as
mentioned. Updates will eventaully install automatically unless you change
the option in "updates" to prompt instead of automatically installing
updates.

simply press alt+h for the help menu, and then A for the about dialog. if there is an update, JAWS should announce there is one as a button, . otherwise, you can tab around to find out what's there.

Using Jaws 2021, I have no issues with Firefox at all.
Pages load fine, and I can navigate as always.

I do not have many, if any, extensions running; so maybe that could be an issue for some?

It does run much better with Jaws 2021, then 2020.

I cancelled the update for now and am still running v88.0.1.
Just curious -- do you have a firefox profile?
It seems that if you disable automatic loading of profiles, things work ok, or at least I read that from someone. But most people who have experienced this do not mention a profile, so I'm not sure of this, really.
