For some unknown reason, on my Live.com account, the message headers only contain the size of the email and the date? This happens only on this account but not on others. If I delete a message and look in the deleted folder they have the normal heading info.

I am sure I have inadvertently changed some setting which has cause this but no idea how. Can anyone help?

The header appears correctly when running either Narrator or NVDA?

When I tried the other day I used Edge, just now I went to Northwest.bank using Google Chrome, after clicking on the Login link (it is not a button, it's a link) and then using "e" to find any edit fields I immediately landed in the Login Id field and a tab from there brought me to the password field.

Note that unlike on some other websites where after you click on Login or similar focus is not automatically put in the Login Id box, you have to jump to it with the "e" or "f" quick nav key. But the experience for me using Jaws 2021 was identical with Edge or Chrome.

Maybe it's the chrome browser, but this is only a guess. In the Germain JAWS mailing list someone wrote a mail telling us he had difficulties with chrome and edit boxes. JAWS don't detect them but Firefox and Edge do. Because modern Edge uses the same browser engine as Chrome I suspect it could be a Chrome problem. Perhaps you can test the web site again with other browser to prove or disprove this statement.

I had a quick look at this page on my Mac with VoiceOver because I can't test this with JAWS yet. To make it short: there's a button "LOG IN". By pressing this button a windows appears with two edit fields in which you can write your ID and password. I tried to focus the edits but they weren't listet by listing all controls in this site. So if you use JAWS, press the button to show the popup menu with the edit fields and using f key to select a form filed, if you do this with JAWS and can't access this edit fields I assume the controls are not listet properly in this site and I would contact the web site owners to inform them about this.

Your problem might be that you are still running windows 7 and you should upgrade to Windows 10.

The other thing, you don't mention is what pdf reader are you using?

You should be using the Adobe Acrobat DC oranother pdf reader in its latest version.

You also don't mention if you have tried using the JAWS pdf converter available in JAWS 2021.

We use Chrome.  That is very strange.  We tried both Northwest.bank and northwest.com and neither one worked.   The customer service rep said that the northwest.bank site was kind of an overlay to the actual login screen.  So he gave us the link to what he said was the actual login screen, and that worked fine.

Very interesting that it worked for you.  I would like to know the reason too.

Hi this might help with the PDF book..

Open the PDF book you are trying to read then try this.

Press Insert space followed by the leter O and this will open the OCR layer.

Press the leter P for PDF and it shold start scaning the PDF file that has been opened.

It wil then scan the PDF and pull out the images. If this work then you should get the text.

I was curious so I went to the QRead web site and found this little snippet that shows QRead will not help the person with the PDF book that is an image.
Quote:
PDF files are encrypted using DRM. QRead can read the text from unprotected PDF files.

A common practice some companies use in their product manuals is to scan images of the print manual and put just the images in their PDF file. If they do this, there is no text for QRead to speak. If you open a PDF file that seems to be blank, this is often the cause. If this happens, you will need to use OCR software such as Kurzweil or Openbook to process and read the images.
End quote.

But if it's a large file, JAWS doesn't do so well. Kurzweil or OpenBook or QRead are more accurate solutions. OpenBook destroys the formatting, but QRead and Kurzweil do better. QRead cost $23 when i bought it a couple of years ago.

When you use Acrobat Reader Pc to open PDF documents, you may sometimes
get the message, "empty document". This means that the text is
contained within an inmage that Acrobat Reader PC cannot convert into
speech. But you can use the JAWS Convenient OCR feature to read this
document. Highlight the "empty document" and press the JAWS layered
keystroke, Insert-Space bar. You will hear a clicking sound to
indicate that the layered keystroke has been invoked. Then press O,
followed by D to read the document using standard JAWS reading
commands.

All the best

Hi,

Is anyone using JAWS to access Northwest Bank?  When attempting to log in, there is something that says “login button”, but it does nothing when pressed, and there is no place to enter a user id or password.

Thanks,

Pam

Works as described for me as well, but if it doesn't work maybe try to go to the Contact, press application key or Shift + F10, then expand the "Forward Contact" option and try to forward it either as a business card or an Outlook item.
If I copy and paste it attaches it as an Outlook item.

Madison,
I have done this a bit with contacts on my work computer to move them to my personal. I open a new email message on the computer where the contacts are located and address the email to myself. I put focus in the body of the message. I then open my Contacts. I navigate to each contact I want to copy over and, without actually opening the contact, I do a control c to copy it. Then I go to the open email message and hit Control v to paste it. I do as many of these as I need, then send the email to myself. When I open the email on the other computer, the message is there with each contact as a separate attachment. I think I just selected all and pasted them with Control v into my contacts. Likewise, you can open each contact attachment and, make any needed edits, and save it.

Hi all,
I was looking at stuff on my old laptop today and noticed that I have a few Outlook contacts on my old computer that aren't in my contacts on this laptop.
So I'm wondering, is there any way to get specific contacts from my contacts on my old computer to my list on this computer? I know how to do a Outlook backup and import it (though I've never done it from one computer to another), but most of the contacts are the same on both computers so I don't really want to do that because then I'd have duplicates and I don't want that. I don't even know why these particular contacts don't show up in my contacts on this computer, a backup was imported, so I don't know if I accidentally deleted them or what happened. My old computer is running Outlook 2013, Windows 7 and the latest vertion of Jaws and this computer is running the latest versions of Office 365, Jaws and Windows 10. Really hope there's a way to do this as I'd really like to have these missing contacts on this computer as I rarely use my old one. Look forward to any suggestions anyone might have. Thanks Madison

No need to highlight anything, if you open a document in Adobe Acrobat Jaws Key + Spacebar followed by O and then D recognizes the entire document regardless whether it is 1 page or 100 pages.

Also all the recent versions of Jaws recognize if a PDF is accessible or not and if it is not, i.e. it is an image, Jaws will tell you and ask if you want to perform OCR, by default focus is on Yes.

When you use Acrobat Reader Pc to open PDF documents, you may sometimes get the message, "empty document".  This means that the text is contained within an inmage that Acrobat Reader PC cannot convert into speech.  But you can use the JAWS Convenient OCR feature to read this document.  Highlight the "empty document" and press the JAWS layered keystroke, Insert-Space bar.  You will hear a clicking sound to indicate that the layered keystroke has been invoked.  Then press O, followed by D to read the document using standard JAWS reading commands.

I just went to the site using Jaws 2021 and everything works as it should, of course I can't log in, but after I activate the login link the Login Id and Password fields as well as the submit button and links relating to resetting password, enrolling for the first time and unlocking a forgotten Login Id are all there. Here is Jaws speech history:

Link‑ LOG IN
heading level 2‑ ONLINE BANKING LOGIN

LOGIN ID
Edit‑
PASSWORD
  password edit‑ Submit Button‑

Link‑ Forgot Password? Link‑ Enroll Now

Link‑ Unlock/Forgot Login ID?

Your problem might be that you are still running windows 7 and you should upgrade to Windows 10.

Don't want to upgrade and if JAWS will read other PDF files...what's the
issue with this one.

The other thing, you don't mention is what pdf reader are you using?

You should be using the Adobe Acrobat DC oranother pdf reader in its
latest version.

I have the latest and greatest version, so this is again...not the issue.

You also don't mention if you have tried using the JAWS pdf converter
available in JAWS 2021.

I also tried this and this likewise failed.
