go to settings and arrow down to at start up. there are 3 check boxes. 1 open new tab. 2 blank page. 3 open page or set of pages. check that box and put in your home page.

Hi all,

I understand this question is too simple for you all, but I would need instructions how to use calculator with JAWS for simple calculations. I am using latest JAWS and Windows 10.

If I tab I get to buttons like "Switch to Administrator" or "Switch to Jackie" and if I press enter on, for example, Switch to Jackie, it will ask for the PIN and that would be the Pin to log into her account. Have you tabbed around on the log-in screen to see what is there?

That is because after Paul posted the link to the Audio Games Archive, I
replaced my link to just his whole package to the audio games archive
because you have far more choice there, if you only want a few games or
you can grab the same 37 game install file there.
I just did that change about an hour ago, or maybe 90 minutes and got
busy with other things so had not updated the list.
Thanks to you, I just did.
Now people know I am just linking to the audio games archive which I did
not have a link to before.
Enjoy,

I considered Jim a friend and we played chess via email for years.
I know he was committed to keeping his games free.
Something is going on where the site that compiled his games is located
that has caused them to suspend their web site because some one or other
is wanting people to have to pay for things hosted on that site.
So, I found the KitchenSyncCompleteSetup exe file that I had downloaded
in 2015.
I put it on my site in a zip file to make it easier to download.
It is on the Games page off my web site.
Go to this link to find the zip file and download it.

Those buttons are there, but I found they are easier to access if you use tab to get to them. I just find the first download in the list and then press tab, the first time the Open button gains focus and the second time I press tab Save As has focus and I can press spacebar or enter to activate it.
In the Brave browser if you select to be asked where you want to save your download the Save As dialogue simply opens up when you press enter on a download link, there is no prompt to press GF6 to do to a downlaods bar or anything, just press enter and you are asked what you want to call the file and you can then leave the name it has or change it, then tab to the folder treeview and select your folder just like you would when you select Save As in any other application. It's super simple and I think Brave may just become my primary browser permanently.

Hi again listers:

Well, I found out what was wrong with the download alerts in Edge.
I'm always worried I hit something and messed things up, but, it was not so. Here's a message I just got from Vispero support:

Hello Joseph:
Microsoft updated Edge. They changed the location of the download alert from the lower left of the screen to the upper right. You can still access the download info by pressing control j for the downloads folder then tab to your current download in the list. Development is awear of the issue.

Regards,

Sarai

Hope this helps.

Hi all:

I have the latest JAWS and my Windows 10 updates are current.

When I run Edge, and I download a file, JAWS now does not repeat
download status.

In the past, this has been annoying, at times, because those alerts
interrupt any other speech. But, it am now unaware if/when a download
finishes.

I found that the alerts are still spoken with Chrome.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

Subject: Re: Download alerts with Edge

Hi again listers:

Well, I found out what was wrong with the download alerts in Edge.
I'm always worried I hit something and messed things up, but, it was not so. Here's a message I just got from Vispero support:

Hello Joseph:
Microsoft updated Edge. They changed the location of the download alert from the lower left of the screen to the upper right. You can still access the download info by pressing control j for the downloads folder then tab to your current download in the list. Development is awear of the issue.

Regards,

Sarai

Hope this helps.

Hi again, Joseph. If you want to hear Edge alerts for downloads, once
you have pressed ENTER on a download link, press CONTROL plus J to
take you to the downloads section. After you have pressed CONTROL plus
J, you will once again hear your download alerts.

Subject: Download alerts with Edge

Thanks!

Hi,

You can visit the audio games Archive to download all Jim Kitchens games. I’ll put a link to the site below, its basically a resource for all audio games new and old, you can search by developer listing and Jim will show up in there, along with lots of other excellent audio game developers and their games:

I considered Jim a friend and we played chess via email for years.

I know he was committed to keeping his games free.

Something is going on where the site that compiled his games is located that has caused them to suspend their web site because some one or other is wanting people to have to pay for things hosted on that site.

So, I found the KitchenSyncCompleteSetup exe file that I had downloaded in 2015.

I put it on my site in a zip file to make it easier to download.

It is on the Games page off my web site.

Go to this link to find the zip file and download it.

List Rules

When:
Saturday, 1 May 2021
12:00am to 1:00am
(GMT-04:00) America/New York

Description:
The following is the current version of the JFW Mailing List policies. These are sent out monthly, and also available from:

http://groups.io/g/jfw/wiki/List-Policies

**List Policies**

1: Keep it clean. We're a family list, and there are people here who probably don't want to hear everything *exactly* that's running through your head. If you wouldn't see it on TV, it doesn't belong in a post to the list. If you're not sure, email the administration before you post it to the list. Otherwise, you stand to see your posts moderated.

2: Stay on topic. We're a JFW-oriented list. That said, anything related to JFW, its functionality with programs etc is acceptable. If it doesn't have to do with JFW, it doesn't belong on the list. This includes, but isn't limited to, talk of other screen readers such as Window Eyes.

3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject.

4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind.

5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration.

6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently.

As always, if there are problems or questions with regards these policies, don't hesitate to send them off-list to jfw+owner@groups.io
