question is does jfw work with vmware?

I think so. But I am not sure.

There is a blind Raspberry pie list. I dont remember the address but you can google it.

Hi, Dani. The version is the same as the old one. It just looks different because you probably don't have JAWS run from the system tray. Try going to the JAWS window, press ALT plus O for Options, press ENTER on Basic, and check the option for having JAWS run from the System Tray. Then all your options will probably show up.

In case you want to leave it the way it is,
From the JAWS window,

ALT plus O for Options,

ALT plus U for Utilities,

ALT plus H for Help,

Hi, Guys.
Voc Rehab recently purchased a new version of JFW Home for me. I went
from JFW2018 to 2021, something called Home Manual, and the new
version looks nothing like the old. The only thing in the menu seems
to be Options or Exit, and the only thing under Options is an About
section.

How do I go about learning this new version?

Thanks,
Dani

moderated Problems with Zoom, Audio settings

Bill White

Hello. I am having trouble with Zoom, and I am wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. If I open Zoom Settings, and press ENTER or SPACE on audio settings, I am getting a "Settings not responding" message, which stays for about six or seven seconds, after which I am thrown back to the "Settings" button in Zoom. I have tried Zoom with my current version of JAWS2021, as well as with JAWS 2020, and with Narrator, and the problem persists with all versions of JAWS and with Narrator. Incidentally, I did perform the update to JAWS 2020 in September that was supposed to correct this problem. It only happens with Audio settings, not the other categories.

I am running the following versions of Windows 10, JAWS, and Zoom.

Windows 10, Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.906)

JAWS Version 2021.2102.34 ILM

Zoom for Windows, version 5.6.1 (617)

Our firm has custodied clients with Fidelity since 2006, when we moved from Schwab partly because the Schwab Institutional software was inaccessible. Fidelity's Institutional arm used HTML so for years I could navigate it easily. I use fidelity.com's watch list feature and manage my cash on the site. I've never found the site inaccessible for anything I want to do. The Institutional site, however, is less accessible with a lot of unlabeled buttons and the like.

I think that most of the brokerage platforms these days are accessible, though one of the people on this list had to work with Schwab to understand a large update they did on their retail site.

I'm pleased with the Fidelity site accessibility and ease of use once one gets the hang of its multi level organization.

their customer-centered focus by putting in practice a learned
approach to accessibility.

OK, first some truth in advertising; I am in the financial planning
and money management business. So I have tech preferences and
regulations for what I do that retail investors do not have. Over the
last few years, I have used in my business a tech platform called
Wealthscape which is very serviceable for trading investments and
moving cash. I don't think those outside the industry would have
access to the Wealthscape brand, but my point is that it is developed
by Fidelity. So to some extent I use Fidelity-branded securities
trading platforms on a daily basis and have found this one to be
fairly accessible. It's not perfect, but functionality has gotten
appreciably better with JAWS 2021 and Windows 10.

My other positive Fidelity experience came 10-15 years ago, when two
different clients allowed me to serve as a third-party agent so I had
the authority to adjust their 401(k) plan, which Fidelity had official
custody of. I had no problem reallocating mutual fund positions, or
even buying stocks, on my clients' behalf using the Fidelity platform,
even though Fidelity was not native to any other part of my day-to-day
work. My point is that it felt very natural to use that particular
version of Fidelity's retail platform back in the 2005-2010 period, as
it took me no time at all to train myself on where to find things on
the screen, etc.

Take my observations for what they are worth. I have no idea how good
the Fidelity interface is in 2021 re accessibility.

I will follow this thread with great interest.

Assuming that you are running Zoom on Windows.  You either need to login to Zoom or be in an active meeting.  If you are logged in then click on the button with your name, arrow down to settings and press the space bar.  You will need to navigate to the “audio” pane to make the change.  If you don’t have an account, then in an active meeting find the button labeled “Settings” and press the space bar.
If you are on a Mac, launch Zoom and press “CMD” + “,” to launch preferences.

Ryan,

You can buy a usb to serial converter. Search on google for usb to
serial.
Converters with FTDI chips are ok.

But I think you need a 32 bits windows and not 64 bit to use it with
jaws.
The serial/32bit port communications are not supported in the 64 bit
version of jaws.

But in NVDA it will work I think.
