Hi, Addison. Maybe one of the settings for Password is not set in settings? Other than that, I don't know why passwords would not save for you.

Hi, Addison. After you take the steps Brian suggested, what I do is, after logging into a site, press F6 (Function Key 6 on your computer. This brings up the save password dialog for me in Chrome and Edge. Then, if I am not focused on the "save" button, I can TAB or SHIFT plus TAB to the button, and press ENTER. This saves my password, if, indeed, the password can be saved. Some sites don't allow saving of passwords.

Hi,

Yes you can do this with both JAWS and NVDA using standard navigation commands.

Hi Ann,

If I realize a hot key will not work in an application but in others I do the following:

1. Press JAWS+F2 and select Keyboard Manager and open it with enter key
2. If Keyboard Manager is open press Control+Shift+D to open the default settings
3. Press tab key to go into the list of scripts
4. Press Control+F to search for a hot key. A dialog will open in which you can press the hot key that is to be searched (here it is insert + shift + 2)
5. Press enter key to start the search
6. If the key is found JAWS will place itself on the script which is assigned to this key
7. Open context menu by pressing context menu key or shift+F10
8.. In the context menu you can select the command to add a new hot key. If the hot key is assigned to another script JAWS will tell you. I used Alt+Shift+2 in my test.

If this doesn't work for you let me know and I try to describe to manually change the JAWS key bindings file in your setting folder.

Good luck
Udo

I uninstalled Jaws2021 and reinstalled it and the crashes still occur. FS provided me with scripts that update the registry to capture the crashes. I then use FS support to email FS the files. EVerytime one occurs I send them an email. I want them to see this is a problem.

Jaws has a talking installer which is what kicks in if you uninstall it. I Have never found a problem with uninstalling Jaws while Jaws was running, but of course turning it off and starting Narrator is a very valid way to also do this.

Hello,

I sent out an email last week about Jaws2021 constantly crashing. I called tech support, they tried a few things and then said I need to email tech support. I sent an email and got the reply “call 727-803-8600 as there are to many variables. I sent back an email saying I already talk to live support and they told me to email support. Okay now what? Is it possible to uninstall Jaws while it is running and then reinstall it? Anything else I might want to try? Sounds like tech support doesn’t want to do anything.

Thanks,

Color ID apps may be fun and entertaining, but should not be depended on for
accurate color recognition, like matching an outfit for work, etc. The

There are not any apps for the iPhone that I would trust to give anything close to accurate color readings.
The camera is not designed for that, and the lighting can change what it says about a color quite a bit.

You either need a stand-alone piece of equipment like the Colorino, or if the Rainbow III comes out this year; or to get sighted assistance.
Aira or Be My Eyes could help as they could tell you if you need to move into better lighting, etc.

Hi, Brian. Outlook, at least version 2010, has a junk folder, as do many IMAP folders on servers of ISP's. Because of this, it is difficult to know exactly which email client Michael is running.

Michael,

As Bill White has mentioned, you really need to first determine where the move to Junk is being done, and resolve the issue there.  If your email provider is Comcast, then if you check your webmail you should see the same messages in Junk as you see in the email client, then it's most probable that Comcast is doing that assignment.  And if that's the case I'd whitelist anything coming from groups.io using whatever mechanism they use.

The fact that you say Junk makes me think you're using Thunderbird, and if so you can either train its Junk filtering or put in a whitelist item for anything originating from groups.io and never sending that to junk.

I am sorry that I did not make my position clear. I have used face ID in the past for my customers and have found the experience variable. The reason you might find it reliable most of the time is the fact that you are using a Microsoft product. I do use Fusion personally and on my ThinkPad Yoga it was hit or miss. The finger print reader was more reliable but fails at times as well. As someone said in this thread if face id or the finger print reader does not work you can always use the Pin Code. It is important to remember that opinions  on this list are the experience of the user and not to be taken as gospel . Thank you for making me make my answer more clear. Just goes to show you should think before you touch those keys.

Please don’t take offense. since you don’t use face ID, you should not give advice such as this. I use it on my Surface Pro7 and it is almost 100% accurate. In the case that it might not work the first time, you set up a pin number to enter much like you would use a passcode on an IPhone.

Actually, I find it much better than face ID on the phone. And it works very well in low light.

Good morning,

I just purchased a new laptop.

It’s a Lenovo IdeaPad & has both touch& face ID.

When I got to the point during setup, where it asked me to scan my finger, for touch ID, narrator didn’t say anything, so I needed sighted assistance.

Butt when its ready for me to login, Jaws says, “scan your finger on the fingerprint reader.”

Would it do the same with face ID?

Thanks,

Jessica

At first, it says “Looking for you” then it says “Making sure it is you.” Then you will hear Jaws or whatever your screen reader uses as an alert. I find it works much more consistently than the finger print on my Lenovo laptop.
But, if it does not recognize you, it will prompt you for a pin number or if you tab to login options, you can choose how you want to proceed.

Marie,

I am curious as to what a screen reader announces, or does not announce, when Windows Hello is set up to use facial recognition on a machine that supports it.

If memory serves when this is chosen as the verification method there is nothing the user has to do but sit in front of the computer.  The camera, even if it's off normally, will be activated to view the face and a match will either be made, and you log in, or not.  I imagine if it doesn't recognize you that there'd have to be some sort of screen reader output to that effect.  But if you are recognized, I don't know whether it just logs you in or whether some sort of "You're verified" message is announced and the login proceeds.

I have a machine with a fingerprint reader but none with facial recognition.

Hi, Michael. If you really want to clear up the problem of messages ending up in the junk folder, the best resolution is for you to go online with a web browser to Comcast.net, and mark the messages there as not spam. Although Outlook has a function similar to this, the messages continue to be deposited in the junk folder, even after marking them as not junk, and safe.
