Hello,

I sent out an email last week about Jaws2021 constantly crashing. I called tech support, they tried a few things and then said I need to email tech support. I sent an email and got the reply “call 727-803-8600 as there are to many variables. I sent back an email saying I already talk to live support and they told me to email support. Okay now what? Is it possible to uninstall Jaws while it is running and then reinstall it? Anything else I might want to try? Sounds like tech support doesn’t want to do anything.

Thanks,

Kevin

I would never recommend uninstalling a program while it is running.

Close Jaws, and run either Narrator or NVDA and either run a repair by launching the installation file, or uninstall it from the Control panel.

Then, reboot and use Narrator or NVDA to reinstall.

Once the Jaws installation starts, you can exit Narrator or NVDA and let the Jaws runtime program talk you through the rest of the process.

Hi, Eom and list. Just remember that, if you have an SMA and you can't pay the renewal fee for a few months, your version of JAWS will continue to work as you purchased it. If, however you purchase the annual $90 license, and you can't afford to continue the subscription at the end of your license, you will begin to hear that JAWS is running in 40-minute mode about two weeks after your license expires.

Hi John,

Appreciating what you say about money not being an issue, but upgrading JAWS becomes more expensive the further away you are from current. So upgrading JAWS 2019 to the latest version will become more expensive when the new version comes out, around October as you suggest.

At some point, it would become cheaper for you to buy a new version of JAWS outright using one of the convention special offers in the summer.

If you’re in the US, you might also want to subscribe to the annual licence so that you always have the latest version.

Cheers,

Ed

Thanks for the information. Who knows what causes the issue. are the computers by any chance using Invidia drivers? The laptop this is happening on is using both intel and Invidia drivers so I’m wondering if it’s something to do with the Invidia driver. My desktop uses the Intel drivers only and has no issues.

Hi,

Yes, I have had this issue for some time and more than one version of JAWS.  Occurs on my desktop and laptop.

Sometimes F11 works fine and other times not so well.  I find that if I try a 2nd time it often works.

Sorry no fixes here or particular reason just to let you know you’re not alone with this one.

Hello. I seem to be having a problem with the system tray dialog in jaws 2021. When I press insert f11 I do get the list of items but when I press enter on one of them, the system right clicks somewhere on the desktop instead of the system trey and the item I have selected. It’s as if I’m right clicking on an empty spot on the desktop instead of the item I’m wanting to right click on in the system tray. Has anyone had this issue? If so, how was it fixed or could it be fixed. Thanks

I didn't quite understand what the original poster was asking. The SAPI5
voices are available for any application that knows how to use them,
including screen-readers like nVDA and Narrator. You can just download them
from microsoft.
Vocalizer voices are, as has been said, specifically tied to JFW. There
might also be SAPI versions of those though -- honestly I'm not sure; you
can certainly look around. There is Vocalier available for nVDA, at a charge
-- sounds like a pain to bother with though as people seem to have problems
with them constantly asking for registratino/authorization info.

It is still there, just a bit buried.
From the main inbox, hit alt+f then I for info, tab once to the accounts combo box and arrow down to the account yu want to delete/remove.
Hit space to select it. Tab twice to Account settings and hit enter.
You should find another item that says Account Settings, hit enter again.
Now you are on the Email tab. Tab to the Remove button and hit enter.
I suspect there will be a confirmation box...
You may be able to get there faster, but I don't know how.

Hi all,
I went to try and remove an account from Outlook, but when I went into Office accounts I couldn't find the options to add/remove accounts, any idea why these options suddenly aren't there? The only thing I saw was a button to manage account privacy settings, I didn't even see any other account settings, other then the option to change the Office account theme. Sure I've done the neccessary updates, but I certainly haven't changed anything, unless an update messed it up... Even when I made my gmail account the default there didn't appear to be an option to remove my other account which is what I want to do now. Using the latest versions of Office 365, Jaws and Windows 10. Really hope someone can help me!!!! Thanks Madison

Or press Alt + F, go to Info and tab until you hear "Account Settings... sub menu", press enter and you get "Add and remove accounts or change existing connection settings"
Tab until you get the list of your accounts, go to the one you want to remove and then press Shift + Tab until you get to the "Remove" button

I can only agree with what Edward and Ryan have said especially if you don't have financial concerns about upgrading. Keeping Jaws up to date whether it's by subscribing to the annual plan which always allows you to run the latest version or by buying SMA's each time you run out (every two years) it absolutely worth it. There are way too many changes in Windows 10, Office (especially if you have the Microsoft 365 subscription) as well as with browsers and having the latest version of Jaws will typically give you the best experience. You can still have one or two previous versions of Jaws installed if you are concerned about issues with the latest or if you find an earlier version works better with a particular program you are using.

Hello, everyone.

I realize that what I’m about to ask may be extremely elementary to some, and may even be considered to be off topic for this list.

So, in order to minimize list traffic, please reply to me directly at

tombehler@...

Basically, my question is does anyone know of an accessible online monthly calendaring system that I can use to coordinate activities for an amateur radio organization of which I’m a Board member.

The events I coordinate occur weekly, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12 noon local time, during each month of the year.

Right now, as I develop my monthly calendar, I put the calendar in a Microsoft word document format, and e-mail it out to those who need to respond.  They then e-mail me back, telling me which dates they can take for a given event.  After receiveing everyone’s information, I then update my calendar, and send the updated document out to all concerned.

While this actually has worked quite well, I’m thinking more and more that it would be nice to do something like this online, so that people could sign up for their preferred dates, and the most current information could be available to everyone.

I took a look at signup genius

https://www.signupgenius.com/,

but that app seems like much more than what I need, and appears to have basic accessibility issues with Jaws.

I’m looking for something relatively simple that could be completed online, and that then could be saved in a text or .doc format, after which I could emboss the final monthly calendar in Braille.

I’m using Windows 10 here with the latest version of Jaws 2021.  I also have Microsoft 365, which I know has a calendaring function.

Thanks for any suggestions.
