Most exports are not sorted by last name, for instance. You can ask Excel to do this for you, but after checking a single entry, if everything appears to be "in order" for that single row of cells, it should be for all others as well. You have no control over how any given webmail or email client does its export, while you do as far as field mappings when it comes time to import. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide |

How did you open that CSV file?
They're nightmarish to even try to look at if you use a text editor. If opened in Excel, they're easier to deal with. You have to remember that exported contacts are not prettily sorted, but generally get spit out in the order they were created. It's up to whatever contacts manager is in use to do the ordering in the way you prefer. You'll also have to be very careful on import, as over the years I find that how the importing software wants to map the fields, and how the fields in the CSV file should actually be mapped into the new contacts, is at variance. This is the step I've consistently found to be the biggest PITA. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide |

Hi,
How do I map fields in outlook 365 with JAWS 2021, before exporting as a .csv file? I don't find it accessible to do. I just exported as it was and all my contact names and email addresses are all over the place and not in order by name after I opened the file. How do I do it? Andrew |

Itunes with Jaws 2021
Tony Sohl <tonysohl@...>
Hi yes you are all correct apple has made no attempts to make their itues software accessible with JAWS!
One solution I would do if you have aira is have them help you by having aira log into the computer with team viewer and then telling the aria agent what you ant to do for example moving music from widnwos into itues and then having them transfer it to your iphone or ipdad. I know most of you want to do thsi independently but Apple will not make any changes to their program. Unfortunately, if you have a mac then it works properly, howveer most people wnat a pc and they should make changes to. I wonder if we should all write apple and demand they fix this. I know the NFB sued apple for accessability and maybe it's time for that to hapen again or the acb necds to put a fire uncder them! I hope this heops. |

Pat, You won’t get any arguments about the lack of accessibility with iTunes on Windows here.
At best, it is a program to be worked around/with. After the demise of Window-Eyes, iTunes has been awful to deal with and was only somewhat tolerable with Window-Eyes.
The tab key will become your friend, or at least necessary companion, as well as control+COMMA TO OPEN THE SETTINGS AND TAB AND ARROW YOURSELF SILLY GETTING THE SETTINGS THE WAY YOU WANT THEM. Yes, alt+f is the best way to get into the regular menus and then just arrow up down left and right….

Hi,
I am totally frustrated with this, perhaps someone could help. I have just purchased a new ipad, and i have loaded the itunes app onto my windows 10 pc. Everything is up to date, windows, jaws etc. The app seems to be totally inaccessible with jaws. Should I be using the actual program rather than the Microsoft store app? Generally, i find apps not very accessible.

Most things identified as PUPs are identified as such because, with the advent of the loathsome practice of software bundling, particularly for free programs, stuff ends up getting installed that wasn't done so with intent. It is most often not malicious, but it is then, by definition, a PUP. This is one of the reasons I strongly recommend the Unchecky utility. The fact is that no scanner gets 100% of everything at any given moment in time. What one catchs now, another won't catch until its next definition update. It's the nature of the beast. But unless you're dealing with a novel attack vector, which is the rare exception, virtually any scanner is going to catch it. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide |

Well, to me, malware bytes is accessible enough and it gets the job done. I've been using it for several years, and it generally doesn't get in the way and the price for the subscription is pretty good.

I don't think it matters where you get itunes. Tab and shift tab are very necessary, alt doesn't seem to bring up the menus, but alt+f will give you the file menu and you can arrow around from there. Not all that accessible, but for what little you'll actually need it for, it will sort of work.

Thanks. As I said it has been a couple of years and I was considering my options.
I studied the test results before I did anything. I realize it’s close to the top and performs well, but so do several others. There aren’t many tests out there that tell you how well something works with a screen reader and I was curious how others performed. I realize it’s a small, hell minuscule, sample-size but the only malware I have received in the past 2 years was missed by Windows Defender. Luckily a MalwareBytes scan caught it. I’m not denouncing Windows defender because of this. Finally, something I should have added in my original post, I use my computer for freelance work and receive files who’s origins I can’t always be 100% sure of. I don’t mind paying for peace of mind, I would rather not, but I don’t mind if I have to. |

Most accessible antivirus or security suite with JAWS
Phillip Gross
The subject line kind of says it all doesn’t it? I’ve been using the combination of MalwareBytes Premium and Windows Defender for a couple of years. It’s time to renew the Malwarebytes subscription and I figured I would revisit my options.
From what I’ve learned Eset may or may not be accessible. People on here say it isn’t. Their website gives instructions on installing a screen reader compatibility file to make it work with NVDA or JAWS. I lean towards taking the word of the screen reader users who have actually used it. Trend Micro and Bit Defender May or may not be accessible. There is a government agency in Texas, I can’t remember which one, that signed an agreement for a 3rd party vender to provide them with software. This vender provides Trend Micro and Bit Defender. This agency says it won’t use software that isn’t accessible. We all know how much those statements are worth. I know the good and bad points of MalwareBytes and Windows Defender. Having said all of that what do you recommend, what do you use, how accessible is it, and what do and don’t you like about it? Thanks in advance. |

Hi, Larry. Albert was looking for a setting that would lower volume while other audio is playing, not a setting to manually raise or lower volume. That's why I didn't describe the new layered keystroke functions to set JAWS and system volume.
