Re: Microsoft Edge, no more favorites manager/have to do with context key now
Sieghard Weitzel <sieghard@...>
So far it is still only part of the Canari version of Edge, there are two more steps after this, the developer and beta versions before it gets into the public build. Of course I am not entirely sure how quickly this goes and if, for example, Canari features first are added to the other programs or if they can go straight from being in Canari to a public release. I have tried it and it's fantastic, you just press Control + Shift + O and like in the Windows Start Menu start typing a few letters of your Favourite and then arrow down to select from a list of choices.
Best regards, Sieghard

I heard mention that Edge is experimenting with a new more accessible Favorites system that is available in the latest daily builds. I believe I saw mention of this about two weeks ago, therefore, it is probably making its way into the stable insider builds soon. If you feel like impacting this process, perhaps you want to download the latest insider build and use the feedback assistance. Jonathan

Re: JAWS Switching to Another language
Mike B.
While in your browser of choice open Jaws
Quick settings, Insert + V, and type, detect, into the search
field.
Wait for a second or 3 for the list to
populate and the checkbox / option you want is, Language detect change, if this
is checked uncheck it with the spacebar.
Now tab to, Okay, and press enter to save /
close.
You can also turn this feature off in Settings
Center or Settings Center default all applications by typing, detect, in the
search field. But, the feature will be called, Detect language, in the
Settings Center.
Use, Settings Center while in an individual
application or Quick Settings.
Use Settings Center default all applications
to turn it off in all applications / programs.
To access Settings Center press, Insert + 6,
on the number row.
To access, Settings Center default all applications, press, Insert + 6,
then press, control, shift + D.
Stay safe and take care. Mike.

Hi, You have detect languages on, which is normal behavior. Open the Jaws setting center with insert+6 on the numbers row. Press control+shift+d for the default settings, or just leave it on your web settings. Type Language in the edit field and arrow down to Detect Language On, and hit the space bar to turn it off and hit enter.
You should be good to go.

Re: Audio Bluetooth Sound Setting
Paul Faucheux
hi mitchel i would suggest to go to utilities menu and then go to sound cards and select the Bluetooth headset as the audio source for jaws. as far as the microphone issue go to sound in control pannel and under playback devices make sure that the webcam is set as default device. and do the exact same thing under recording devices.

This means that there are accents or it may be switching to another language. Try stopping Jaws and arrowing, manually, read past the spot. Hope this helps?

Re: Can I get My messages to go to a specific folder automatically?
Ashleigh Piccinino
Rules and alerts doesn’t always work as I’ve tried it. For me, at least, sometimes the dialogue comes up that “one or more rules couldn’t be activated due to ...” Also, some of my dialogues say “the folder xxx has exceeded its storeage capasities.” I don’t
know what that’s all about, and you’ll just have to manually move the messages into the folders. Sorry about that. I’ve gotten Rules and Alerts to work about a couple times, but if you put another rule in for a message, it adds it—so you could have Win10 and
then subsiquent numbers behind that for how many more rules you’ve created for the folder.

Accessibility of a piece of software cannot be defined due to a lack of knowledge about how to use it. Virtually any piece of software one is completely unfamiliar with is not accessible under that definition. But if you know that there exist many users of that software who are also screen reader users, it is absolutely accessible. Not knowing how to use something is in no way the same as something being designed badly and unable to be accessed via a screen reader. If you cannot get to functions and use them with a screen reader, that's inaccessible. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide

Re: How to record jaws activity
Richard Turner <richardturner42@...>
You can get quite a lot of what you want from the Jaws speech history. After going through a page for a while, press insert+space, then the letter h. What comes up will be at least the Jaws speech up to a certain point. I do not recall how much you can gather at once, but it is quite a lot.
For example, After writing the above paragraph I brought up the jaws history and I could have copied it and your message into the clipboard.

Hello All,
I am using jaws 2021 on Windows 10 and both are fully patched.
I am working with ux designers to get some sites to be not only accessible but usable. That is they met all the requirements to have the page accessible but when using a screen reader it is not easy to navigate. So am working to get the pages usable. My ask is does jaws have the function to record everything that is read out when navigating a page and saving it in a form like mp3 that I can provide to the ux developer?
Thanks, Abraham

Is the SpeechHistory something you can use? Press ins-space and then h. The SpeechHistory will hold the last 500 spoken text. This was 50 or 100 in earlier versions of jaws. Regards, Marten

Scripts for putty when using remote desktop feature.
Abraham Sweiss
Hello All,
I am using jaws 2021 on Windows 10 and both are fully patched.
When I use putty on my local work station, jaws is able to read the contents of the console. The issue I have is when I either use citrix or RDP and access putty on the remote system, jaws can not handle and all the existing scripts for putty that I am aware of does not handle this use case.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to address getting jaws to work with putty running on a remote system. The remote systems I access run iether windows 16 or 10.
Thanks, Abraham
