Re: Ghost Mouse

Dave...

Yes, I don't know HP laptops, but in my case, the touchstick is not really a
stick, but a round button fairly flush with the surrounding keys. It's not
always obvious, so make sure to hunt for one, just in case.

If this is a Dell laptop, then there is both a pad and a touchstick. both
need to be disabled. As suggested, for mouse work, just connect a simple USB
mouse for that.

Touchstick is located between G, H, V, and N.

Hello,
I’m wondering if anyone knows what’s going on:
I disabled the tapping feature on my mouse pad so sighted people could use
the mouse with the buttons. I know it’s disabled because when I tap it or
move my fingers along it nothing happens except for the mouse to move.
I’m still having the same problem I had when the mouse was enabled. At
random times I’m jumped to different windows, I’m moved to different places
in a document or email at random times and sometimes when I’m typing a
random bunch of text will be selected and deleted when I keep on typing.
Other people who have tested on my computer haven’t had this problem, so I’m
wondering if there is a way to find if there are some touch pads that aren’t
obvious that my hand position brushes? I don’t see anything except maybe
around the mouse pad or keys. There are lights around my spacebar and mouse
pad.
I’m running Windows 7 with Jaws 11. This jumping happens at random times and
in any application.
Thank you,

Sorry I should have been more specific. Communicator is the Microsoft communicator. I am not sure how one gets it or what cost is involved. It is what my workplace uses.

Dave, probably he said switch to the urgent conversation.
Gerardo,
Firstly you need to asign the msn chat to a keystrocke.
Do the followin:
1.
Press alt tab to reach the conversation windows that you want assign.
2. Press control plus windows key plus a number (1 to 5) to assign the
conversation key.
To jump between the chats window:
Use insert plus space bar. After the sound press 1 to 5. If you need to jump
to the urgent conversation, press 0.

Take care,
Juan.

see a link for it right on the home page.

Hi Dondi,

This is not in Excel, but it works quite well. I have used it for about the
past three years, and I really like it. Go to www.moving-mountains.org and
download the easy-to-use diary. It is actually a word file or a text file,
whichever you choose to use. The website explains how to use it, so I'll
say no more.

Does anybody know about a place on the internet where I can find a calendar

Excel files that are out there but none of them seem to fill the bill when
it comes to working with the visually impaired.

Re: Incongruences between Jaws English and Jaws spanish

Voy a visitar su página! I do speak Spanish and have wondered about
JFWs in Spanish and how it works. If it's something that doesn't
exist, maybe we could work together to translate these books so that
Spanish speakers can have them or any other related stuff?
Espero saber de UD. Prónto.

HI listers: I'm finally back after some time; very high expectations I'll
get lots of good things from here!

Yesterday I started listening to Jaws Daisy books to get a better grasp and
maybe learn some tricl or tip I might have missed, and found a few
inconsistencies between Jaws English and Jaws Spanish I'd like to point out;
maybe you guys have seen them?

For starters I've moved from Jaws12 to 13 which recently got translated in
Spanish. First of all I see no Spanish daisy books! I'd think I'd be able to
maybe learn some things by listening to the English daisy books, however
here is where some of the inconsistencies start:

The books say from the Help menu one can go to Traning which is the first
item. I looked and looked and can't find it in my spanish jaws! Neither that
or the Search for updates aren't there.

Yes those of us with enough english to understand, and with enough
experiences with Jaws are able to think up ways to get around and achieve
what is being taught in these books, but what about all those people who are
very excited to, once get Jaws, learn about the computer and all that it has
to offer? How are they suppose to achieve the filosofy by which these books
were originally designed?

2.-When downloading Spanish Jaws, the daisy books aren't there except for
the FS Getting started, thus having to download them manually.

3.-for some weird reason, FsReader doesn't recognize these Daisy files as
daisy! Hard as I might try to change directory and open the Daisy books, I
get a ding and yes I know they get installed in the correct place since I
can see them when I go to Program Files, Freedom Scientific, Jaws Training.

I'd like to say that thanks to the cassettes, preceeding these digital
books, I learned the basics, thus talking from personal experience. From the
time I've been on spanish lists, and I see so many questions posed on such
simple matters covered on these courses, I always had a dream to somehow be
able to colaborate with FS maybe by recording Spanish tutorials and maybe
incorporate them into Jaws Spanish software?

I invite you (if you know enough spanish that is) to visit my blog

<http://tuimagina.wordpress.com/> http://tuimagina.wordpress.com

In which I recently recorded a few Jaws Spanish podcasts.

Hi there. I can't say it will specifically help your problem, but Jaws 12 has worked a lot more reliably for me with Windows 7 than 11 did.

Re: Jaws with Flash Content?

Bissett, Tom <tom.bissett@...>

Hi Claudia, This is typical of flash. Unless it is specifically made accessable this is what you get.
Flash can be made some what accessable but there are a lot of issues with it. One is that flash is often layered and jaws can only access the first layer and only if it is made accessable. So flash is still a poor choice for adaptive technologies.

Tom Bisset

Hi,

I'm trying to complete a training for my work, and I wanted to know if
there are issues with Jaws and Flash.
When I try to access the information, I just receive Flast Start and
Flash End messages, but there is nothing else there.
Any ideas on this?
