I've listned to the webinars about Googledocs you have, but it didn't tell about that, yet in your other message you had a good point about going to the Tools menu and then finding accessability settings and screen reader support. I'll try it later on.

to answer your question as another way to restart JAWS, you could press
control+alt+j if you have assigned a hotkey to the desktop shortcut.

also you can press insert+alt+f4 and wait to see if JAWS eventually
restarts. this takes a bit shorter than pressing alt+f4 and then
control+alt+j.

Madison,
Do you have an Internet connection that is working?
That is, have you tried unplugging and plugging your modem and router?
I'm assuming where you are eMailing from is not the computer in question.
And I wonder if that yearly subscription of Jaws needs a working Internet
connection to work.

moderated Question about OneNote, & saving things

Hi,

I’m in the process of trying to apply for college.

In the state of Michigan, where I live, they came out with a program where indeviduals 25-years or older, can get a free associate’s degree.

I’m on Humanware’s website, looking at potential jobs, so I know what kind of degree I’ll need, in order to have the job I’m looking at.

I selected the relevant text, & wanted to put just that text into OneNote.I’m fully aware that you can clip articles, full pages, & a few other things into OneNote, but is it possible to save just a selected portion of text?

If so, how do I go about doing it?

Thanks,

Be sure to turn off the virtual cursor with insert-z. if that doesn't help, turn it back on again. sometimes it makes a difference and sometimes it doesn't.

There is a whole list of Google docs shortcuts.

this is copied from a tcsaccess.com webinar transcript:
turn on accessibility

· Navigate to Tools menu with Alt + T

· Press Up or Down Arrow to navigate to Accessibility Settings

· Press Tab to Screen Reader Support

· Press Space to check the box

· Press Tab to the OK button

· Press Space to confirm the OK button

List with two items. Turn on screen reader support check box not checked.
Ben: In this case I would want the screen
reader support turned on. So I'm pressing the space bar. And as I continue to tab

Learn more about the list with two
items. Turn on Braille support. Check box.

Ben: Turn on supportive you're using a
Braille display. Just kind of a heads up, even though you might get access to certain keystrokes such as say line or being able to announce the current font attributes, you might lose some access to other keystrokes such as being able to quickly identify a graphic and potentially select that graphic regardless of which screen reader you're using. The just kind of a heads up of the trade off as you tooling to turn on Braille support on and off.

Thanks, Ed, that's really helpful! For some reason I often don't think to check the JAWS help files, but they're usually pretty good.

I've still not figured out a way to work with the built-in Windows 10 Mail application that works consistently and well, I guess I'll try to stick to Outlook in the future.

Hi All  I have jaws2020  and desktop computer windows10 ,well last night (Tuesday) I was reading email then suddenly  jaws was reading message then it cut off then I said to myself  it’s sounds like the electricity power cut off and I feel computer tower is still on then I ask my sister did the power cut off she say no  then I press window + r to type in jaws2020  however jaws did not come back on !! So I went to press windows key + m to press alt +f4 arrow down once to restart press enter  the computer never restart  then I went back on desktop  press alt f4 to press enter on shut down computer  that didn’t shut down either so I had to press the power button on computer tower to turns off the computer . Well this morning the computer was on but jaws still not saying anything at all so I have try to reload jaws 2 time it won’t come on  then my sister came and try to see if she can see what’s going on the windows screen monitor  she told me the monitor is on then few second  it’s say no detected  signal  so she try to restart the computer  it won’t restart so she said that she will ask my brother to come over after his doctor appointment  so my brother said there is something on the windows screen  monitor  but he can’t fix it and say the monitor is not working . Then this evening around 5:30 p.m. I call Mr.James to ask him when he came by the house on yesterday  with laptop and I was showing him something on desktop computer did he see anything strange about the monitor  he said no  then I went back on desktop computer while he was still on the phone  suddenly jaws start talking  then Mr.James  said it probably  was jaws doing it when my brother and I have try to reload jaws it won’t come on !! Does anyone have any idea  what is the other way to try to narrow jaws back on ?

Dear Listers:

I am trying to read a document from my church that was sent in Googledocs, but I am finding that when I read it I can only do so line-by-line, meaning I have to press the Down Arrow key after every line.  The JAWS Say All command will not work.  Is there a way using JAWS that I can read something in Googledocs straight through, as if I were using the Say All command in other documents?

Good evening everyone,

I’m writing this message, because it’s  a long time coming.  Their a few members on this list, that have taken the time out of there schedules too answer questions that I have posted regarding Jaws. Those of you who did, know who you are, and therefor, I shouldn’t post their names publically on this forum.

Please know that I would like too say thanks, and it is always appreciated,

I took this suggestion and installed the full version. I'm pleased to report all went well.

Thanks,

You are correct.
I'd simply download a fresh copy of the installer from the official download page: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php <http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php>

Glen & Randy:

Please accept my apologies in not responding to both your last posts regarding this thread. I am having to write my reply as and when I can, this is because I am taking care of my wife, who has recently come out of hospital, following a major double sergeacal procedure. I will try and send, a reply in a day or so.

That is another good thing to check.
Especially if it is a laptop, this may get checked automatically.

Hi again,

In device manager, find the adapter in the network adapter pull out window
and go into its properties and on the last tab there is a checkbox asking
you whether you want the computer to turn it off if you want to save power
consumption. You do not want the computer to turn it off at all. HTH

Hi,

I don't know if this has been already mentioned, but have you checked if the
USB port that the adapter is plugged into is in power saving mode. You can
check for that in your device manager

Agreed and now you have ruled out the dongle.

I have done that but, the problem stays with the DELL computer,
therefore, I am fairly certain it is a problem with network settings in
Windows 10 for that computer.

Dave,
Try swapping the dongles, just to be that the new one isn't defective.
