Try this for doing an Office repair.

Close all your applications.

Go to the desktop.

Tab until you hear Start button and Right click on the Start button then select on Apps and Features .

Then, tab until you hear something like: 183 apps found Listbox.  The number will differ from system to system.

Arrow down until you hear:

Microsoft 365 -

Hit your spacebar so you hear selected‑ expanded‑

Microsoft 365  and tab to the Modify Button and press your spacebar.

Then tab through the options and select the one you want before hitting the repair button.

Cancel Button‑
‪Minimize Button‑

Quick repair
‪Online Repair

‪Repair Button‑

I too, would also appreciate any and all steps that relate to performing a repair of Microsoft’s office 365.  I think that it would be most helpful, if any and all products of Microsoft,  could develop some sort of  utility that would perform a scan and clean up utility  that would scan computers for any errors before the user installs the application, or program. I would also recommend that a similar cleanup utility for Jaws, so that we users wouldn’t have to go through the process of performing a jaws repair.  Just my suggestion for what its worth.

Greetings from SA.  Has any one experienced the following issues with JAWS 2021 and office 365, mainly using outlook.

When trying to compose a message, or arrow through my inbox, or use the address book, Jaws tends to freeze for no reason, and I have to wait a minute or so, or alt tab around for it to respond again.  This is running on my work laptop, with office 365, and the latest build of windows 10.

Also, some times when opening an email, it will only read table coordinates, and not the contents of the email.  Any advice will be highly appreciated.  So I’ve reverted back to JAWS 2020 for the meantime.

And JAWS appears to be very slow at times, not sure if its because of all the extra background and security policies running as well.

By default emoji panel shows recently used emojis. You can press Tab to move between emojis and categories, then from categories list, use left or right arrows to move between categories such as (most recently used”, “people”, “celebrations and objects” and what not and press Enter to activate a given category. Emoji panel will remember your category selection the next time you open it.

Thanks for your help, for regrettably I cannot run any repairs on office or JAWS, as I don’t have admin rights on my machine.  Only the JAWS install file is whitelisted for me to install when updates arrive.

I’m having somewhat similar problems with JAWS 2021, and I also end up reverting to 2020.

 

Regarding messages with tables, I suggest opening up a message, any message, and pressing JAWS key+v to open JAWS quick settings. Type “table” into the search field, and then arrow down through the options. Actually, I’ve just checked my notes of previous posts that have worked for me, and I’ll copy them here:

 

Bill white. Try opening Outlook. Press JAWS key plus V for Quick Settings. In the search box, type table detection

Uncheck this option, TAB to OK, and press ENTER.

See if this allows your email to be read correctly.

Another answer. If the detect tables does not work, another possibility is that layout tables are causing you grief so make sure they are turned off.

This in no way is a reflection on the moderation of this group.  However, the comment was made if you have any complaints to contact the moderator.  In theory that should work and often does.  However, in the example I gave, the moderator would deliberately ignore messages she did not like and basically have a hissy fit if you did not agree with her. Changing the subject line?  Definitely there are times  the subject line does not jive with the body of the message.

Just wanted too write, and let you know that your suggestion on the link that you provided for me to install the Jaws update worked. I do have a full license of jaws, but because of a lot of dental      work that I needed some years ago, I had to let my license laps.  When I asked how much it would cost to upgrade, they told me that it would cost $600.00   and that’s why I chose to go with that yearly lease.

I would like too ask the following  question as it relates to the latest Jaws update that someone posted yesterday.  Whenever I go to the jaws updates,  It tells me that I have the latest version of jaws installed which came out in out sometime in mid December, that was jaws 2021. Here’s what I’m wondering.  Both me and my girlfriend are using the version of jaws, where we use the    version that is the lease too own one that we pay a subscription for  every year.  Does it make a differents whether or not     the latest updates for jaws if you own the full license of jaws,  or will the latest version    of jaws that came out yesterday, be installed without any problem.

Personally, I value strong moderation with regard to topic focus.  There's nothing wrong with that.  And questioning a moderator or owner in public has been something "that just is not done" for decades.  The appropriate way to take up those issues is privately, and on Groups.io that's via the group owner email address.

I don't allow endless go-rounds, in public, of complaints about moderation.  You (the generic you) knew what the rules were when you joined, and if you spent sufficient time lurking have learned what the zeitgeist of the space is afterward with regard to zealousness (or lack thereof) of enforcement.  Issues with group administration are generally best not handled in public, and I won't handle them there when it's attempted.  But I don't ban instantly, either.  I'm just consistent about locking that sort of topic and saying there is one, and only one, mechanism that's acceptable:  writing to the owner address.

That was one of the reasons for my earlier reply to Gerald.  There is longstanding custom on the JAWS group with regard to moderation on topic focus being, relatively speaking, lax. 

It's also a part of a member's responsibility to use the tools available to them to exclude content that they don't like if that content is acceptable in a given venue.

Glen, your post reminded me of when a blind person taught a class  on how to use a screen reader.  He suggested we turn off our monitors.  His sighted live in came around and told me my monitor was broke because she couldn’t see anything.  If one does have some sight it is very easy to cheat.  I Phones or iPads have the screen curtain function.  My step daughter enabled it by accident and thought she broke my device.

I would relate this to Jaws in that when I would at times, teach Jaws and keyboarding in a classroom with students wearing blindfolds, I would turn out the lights, as often people would be tempted to peek.

I would also turn off the monitors.

Back when I was sighted in high school, and in typing class, the teacher made everyone tape a sheet of paper over the keys and put our hands under them to type.

She made us do this every day, I don't know why she just didn't leave the paper, but it was an exercise in itself I guess.

A red flag always goes up for me when moderators of other groups start telling the moderator how to run their group. One group I was on was notorious for that and one of the rules on that group was you could get booted off with no warning or chance of appeal.  I suspect the moderator never worked at a job and just had a cheque coming in every month from the government.  Try imposing that rule at the job sight, you’d get a labour relations discriminatory charge against you so quick your head would spin.

I understand that a discussion can sometimes drift off-topic, but the moderator has a responsibility to step in when it does and issue an admonishment.  That's how I run my list, and any member who repeatedly disregards warnings against posting off-topic messages is subject to being placed on mod status.  To be perfectly blunt, the original message in this thread about a new list member really had nothing to do with JAWS itself in the first place, and was only marginally related.

Topic drift is endemic to any group, upon occasion.  And the JAWS group has historically allowed topics that are tangentially related, at best, to JAWS.  This group has never been strictly moderated.

I'd suggest that you, and anyone else who gets frustrated with a given topic on any group, learn how to use the tools that Groups.io gives every user to control the messages they receive to begin with, or keep receiving.  In this case, the Mute this Topic link at the end of every blessed message.

Yes I have a similar issue. if I loose focus with Jaws I do the following: 
Alt plus Tab and go to another window. 

If that does not work I use the run command Described earlier. 

sometimes I use norator that always wakes up the sleeping jaws.

Hi, the subject didn't make any sense and I almost deleted it. Even if it is not technically correct spelling things so jaws says it in an understandable way is helpful.

I have a similar experience with my PC using Win10 and JAWS 2021. The fastest way I’ve found to get JAWS going again is to bring up Narrator with control-Windows-key-enter. Narrator speaks, and so does JAWS. I close Narrator wit the same key sequence, and JAWS is once again off to the races.

 

I have no idea why this works, but when I posted about this behavior the last time, several people reported a similar experience.

 

When things get really bad, I revert to JAWS 2020.
