Select the header line and press alt-ctrl-1 for heading1, alt-ctrl--2 for heading2, and so on.

Hi Madison,
I had a friend who had this trouble, and I suspected that he had a virus on
his computer, because I had him boot to a live version of Linux on a thumb
drive, and it did not do that.
He reinstalled Windows and it did not do it again for a while, but he later
had the trouble again.
He eventually gave me the laptop to keep and I upgraded the OS and also
dual-boot to Linux on it, and it has been a good computer for me.
I think he was getting a computer virus that caused his anti-virus program
to run constantly, thus over-working his computer's processor, which made it
heat up and then the fan would run too hard.
If you got the computer new in March, then the fan probably isn't dirty, but
if you got it used, you might need to open the bottom near the fan and blow
it out.

In another thread, Robin Van Lant asked an interesting question about Word and Headings in another thread. I had a related question I thought best for a separate thread. Does anyone have experience customizing and applying Word styles with JAWS? Since a style is just a group of font and typographic settings that can be applied to line or paragraph of text, they are really helpful for people who do lots of writing for visual readers, such as students writing essays or a lawyer writing legal briefs.

You definitely should select the text you want as part of the heaging. I select the text and press control+shift+S and arrow down to heading level 1, or 2 and hit enter. I'll have to try the control+alt+1 etc next time.

Also you may have to select the text that you want to make a heading for, but again I’m not sure about that. It may work if you’re just on the line where you want the heading.

Hope this helps,

If you want to communicate with group administration the appropriate way to do that is sending e-mail directly to the owner address.  Every message, including this one (sadly), imposes on the time of each and every member of the group who receives them, even if that's hitting the Delete key or doing a Mute this Topic.

That should be considered before one elects to post anything, ever.  This topic should never have even appeared, but been addressed by the conventional method:  emailing the owner address.

I’m calling FS. I tried your idea and unfortunately it didn’t work.

Installing jaws without jaws running sometimes avoids conflicts, so trying it doesn’t hurt anything and it might help.

If not, calling support is the next logical step.

Are you trying to install both at once? If not, in which sequence are you attempting to install them?

I learned from Vispero tech support that if an install (or repair) fails, try running it again. Have you done that yet?

Someone suggested running narrator, but I’m not sure how that would help. Obviously, you’re getting the failed message.

Hi all, the install starts, but when it gets to 50%, I get a message that says, the jaws install has failed. I am authorized for both versions. Any ideas on how to fix this/>? I am running jaws 18on a w10 computer.
