email and Jaws

Hina Altaf <haltaf@...>

Hi,
Does anyone know why Jaws is not reading the message body of the email with Jaws 12 and Microsoft outlook 2010? What might be the problem?
Thanks.
Hina.

Starting with JAWS 12 the Video Intercept paradigm was replaced with the
mirror driver paradigm. You might want to look at this in your specialized
code.

Our company has a very large Java application. It has worked very well
with JAWS going back to version 9 that I'm aware of. We since have been
test with versions 12 and 13 and have found that dialog and message boxes
titles aren't spoken. I even ran older versions of our application to make
sure it was nothing in our new code causing the problem. And sure enough
the older application works fine with JAWS 11 but not with version 12. Is
this a known issue or is there a new setting I'm unaware of?

Thanks

Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)

Working with custom applications can be a trial. Has your IT staff
contacted Freedom Scientific? I think they'd at least try to help. If
your outfit is anything like ours, you may run into privacy problems,
but it's worth a shot. Our longstanding Internet app problems were
resolved by an upgrade of IE, and, ultimately, a migration to Windows 7.
In fact, save for IT and Web staff, I now have one of the more advanced
installations here at Medicaid.

jaws 13 64 bit with windows 7 and word perfect

John Fioravanti <fioresq1@...>

Hi: Thought this might help someone. Some time ago I posted that wordperfect 12 would not properly read with the cursors with jaws 13, 64 bit and windows 7 ultimate. I instaled wordperfect x5 and the cursors now work. X5 has a problem with reveal code and improperly reports font with insert+f; however, at least with x5 I can now read and type documents properly. Hope this helps someone. JOhn

Tom,
At this point, lets look anyways. Sounds like you looked at the spot of
which I am going to direct you.
1. Go to the desktop and remove selection with F five or CTRL space bar.
2. Press your applications key or Shift f 10 and arrow up to personalize
and press enter
3. Now tab to sounds link and press enter
4. Tab to the treview and press "N" for new mail notification.

5. Tab once to play windows start up sounds and make sure that is checked.

6. You can tab to test the sound or continue tabbing until you land on ok
and press space bar.

1. open up word

4. Press "A" until you arrive to advance
5. It will be quicker if you shift-tab until you get to provide sound

6. tab to ok and press space bar.
The sounds should work now in outlook 2010. If you do not have the sound

Thank you!

Fortunately, there is a solution, which someone who rarely posts

told me off-list. When you land on the link, arrow one character
to the
right. For example, if the link begins, "http...," arrow to the
letter

Actually, you can make the link work from any point in the address

the first letter.

Let's try the following.
1. open up word
2. alt f = back stage
3. up arrow and enter on options
4. Press "A" until you arrive to advance
5. It will be quicker if you shift-tab until you get to provide sound with
feedback and check that box.
6. tab to ok and press space bar.
The sounds should work now in outlook 2010. If you do not have the sound

They're free, they're excellent, and they come with some guides on how to

Anyway, the process generally goes like this:
1. create new playlist.
2. find things in your library and
3. copy them to the new playlist.
4. make sure the playlist is set to be synched up with your iPod.

I managed to turn it off, leaving me with the mini player, but I can't get
it back now.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling jaws, but when I did this, I got
the same mini player.

I tried restoring to an earlier time before I turned the full screen player
off, then starting iTunes again, there was an error, so I repaired it.

Still the mini player.

Also, I can't get it to download purchases that I have already bought onto
the laptop, even after I have authorised it with ITunes.

I'm running Jaws 10, can go up to jaws 12, iTunes 10 and windows vista 32
bit.

Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide.

I just tried clicking on a link in outlook with the jaws cursor, and
that worked, but it really shouldn't be that way. We should be able to
click on it with the regular cursor.

Omar,

Do you hear the word "link" when you arrow to that URL? If not, then
it's
not a real link. Something may be wrong, like an embedded character
that
doesn't show.

Also, are these messages plain text or html?

Omar,

Fortunately, there is a solution, which someone who rarely posts to the
list
told me off-list. When you land on the link, arrow one character to the
right. For example, if the link begins, "http...," arrow to the letter
after
the "h." Then press enter.

Actually, you can make the link work from any point in the address
except
the first letter.

Hello,

I'm using Outlook 2003 to check my emails. For some reason, when I
click on
a link that someone sends me, or a link that I cut and paste for
someone
else, it won't open. I get no error messages either. The link just
doesn't
open. Is there something in outlook that I need to change? If I get an
email
from ebay or facebook, for example, with links present in them, I can
click
on those links with no problem. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Re: Links won't open in outlook 2003

Roger Loran Bailey <rogerbailey81@...>

Okay, I know that what works in Thunderbird does not necessarily apply to Outlook, but it might be worth a try. Remember when I was asking on this list about the problem I had with Windows Live and how it crashed and I couldn't get it uncrashed? One kind person on this list sent me a link to download Thunderbird and I have been using it ever since.
At first the links inside the emails would not work for me. Since it did not seem to be very related to JAWS I tried to get help from the Bookshare Discuss list and everything they advised me to do did not work. Then one day I opened up Thunderbird and got a notification that an update was available for it. I installed that update and the links started working. I thought I had solved the problem. Apparently that did not do it because the next time I opened up Thunderbird the links were not working again. Now I think that instead of the update solving my problem it was the fact that while updating I closed the program and opened it again. When it stopped working that next time I opened it I ended up closing it and restarting it out of frustration and then the links worked. The next time after that the links did not work again. I closed the program and opened it again and they worked. Now, every time I do my first check of email in the morning I open Thunderbird and promptly close it. I have not had that problem of the links not working since. I have no idea why this works and I don't know that it will work in Outlook, but it shouldn't hurt to try it.

Gary,

When things are working properly, you can press Spacebar or Enter on a link
in an open message in Outlook, just the same as with a web page. Omar's
problem is that it's not working now.

Omar, possible that you did change something with the install of 2010 and
subsequent rollback to 2003. Restore is not a panacea for all things that
might have changed. How about if you now do a repair on your Outlook 2003
installation?

Omar,
In Internet Explorer or Firefox, and even in Microsoft Word when links are
embedded in a document, you bring up a list of links with JAWS Key plus F7.
You should be able to do the same in Outlook. I don't use Outlook, so I
can't test this method of accessing links in that program.

Have you tried bringing up a list of the links like you would in a
browser? If JFW recognizes the links, then they should appear in the list
and can be accessed by pressing Enter.
