Hi Bonnie,

What will help in giving instructions to change the keyboared layout is, are you running Jaws from the system tray and are you using the capslock key as the Jaws key?  Also, does your laptop have a numpad or not?

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Hi everyone,
I worked with Technical support last week on getting my laptop to work with fusion. We changed my keyboard configuration to laptop layout, but for some reason the setting didn’t save. I have gone over and over the interface trying to find the place to change it back to laptop layout, and I can’t find it anywhere. Help is not helping at all. Does anyone know where I can change the setting? I am using fusion 2021. Thank you! Also, for some reason help only seems to address zoom text, nothing comes up about jaws. Very strange.

Thank you, Bonnie

I am a twitter follower rather than a full twitter user but personally I use the TW Blue  Twitter Client on my PC.

This is free but nag ware. You get asked for donations every  time you use it, annoyingly even after you have donated.

I also found a previous version worked better than  the latest version which means that every time I start it I have to confirm I do not want the latest version.

Having said all that once installed and running I find it far far easier to use on my PC than struggling through the website.

The version I use is on my DropBox on

Hello,

I know that Twitter can really be a rabbit hole. However, there are a couple of Twitter feeds that I would like to access/follow: (preferably using JAWS with my PC.

I have identified some of the primary keyboard commands, though what would help me is to speak with a person on the list who uses Twitter with JAWS who could do a brief walk-through of its features and access.

Contact me via email and we can set up a time for discussion/assistance. Your help is appreciated.

Good afternoon listers.  First, using latest version of jaws and windows respectively.  Anytime I try to use jaws to read any mail in the windows mail program, windows live, the program closes.  Having to use jaws counterpart; NVDA to write this message.  Program works fine with counterpart.  Does anyone else have this problem? I mentioned this to freedom scientific yesterday.  If anyone else has this problem, you might want to pass it along to FS.  Have happy holidays, new year and stay safe.

Thanks for this info, Brian.

I also have Be My Eyes, through which I can contact Google Disability Support.

A few list members have also given me some suggestions which I’m going to try first.

Very much appreciate the info.

Hi, Tom. I just tried importing Internet Explorer settings into Google Chrome. I was able to perform this action without any problems. I suggest the following,

1. Uninstall Google Chrome.

2. Open the User folder on your Windows OS drive.

3. Go to your UserName, Open the folder, and open AppData.

4. Look at the Local, Local-o and Roaming folders within AppData.

5. Find a folder called Google within one or more of these three folders, and delete it.

6. Reinstall Google Chrome.

7. See if this clears up the problem.

Windows fails to clean up folders where data is stored, and because files are left behind, a simple uninstall sometimes fails to correct the problem.

These are the steps that worked for me previously.

However, now, after I select “import from Internet Explorer” from the combo box containing Microsoft Edge and other options, I get kicked out of the import wizzard and can’t find the “import” button.

Once again, the frustrating thing is that this strategy used to work just fine.

If someone wants to give it a try on their end, please do so, and let us know how you do.

Thank you!

To import IE favorites into Chrome, open Chrome and press alt-F, followed by B to get to the bookmarks menu, then scroll down to the Import Bookmarks and Settings option and press enter to open it.  Then just follow the prompts.  Google will create a submenu under Bookmarks called Imported From IE which will contain a list of all your IE favorites.

Thanks for the revised e-mail address for Google Disability Support.

I’m half tempted to e-mail them first to see if they can send me written instructions for importing my IE favorites into Google Chrome.

I think something has changed in relation to how things work after the source selection is made in the combo box I mentioned previously.

Hi, Jim. I told you to open the wrong Verbocity level settings. The one Mike told you is correct, and you will find the block quotations there, exactly where I thought they are, at the very top, first item.

Mike, you told me once, and I can’t find that email. Frown. Please send again. Thanks Jim

brian, while I understand your statement, it is only courtesy to change the subject when necessary. It is more than irritating to find that you have deleted a thread which later contains information you would like to see but have missed because someone is too lazy to use a proper subject.

Tim,

While I agree with you, entirely, that it's best practice to split a topic off, with a new title, when the actual topic of conversation changes, there are times where thread drift occurs like it did here.  If you realize that you are no longer interested in a given topic with a specific title, remember that you can use the Mute this topic link at the end of any message you've already received for that topic and you will receive no more.

If you find the actual volume of email from any given Groups.io group to be overwhelming, you can also set up topic preview, where you would only receive the first message in any new topic, and receive no more unless you activate the Follow this topic link in the first one.  See: Controlling the Messages You Receive via E-Mail from Groups.io (docx file)
