If the question is how to go to the jaws menu if laptop layout is active,
press ctrl-shift-capslock.

Open any JAWS settings and press INS+CTRL+V. If you have JAWS set to
start from system tray then you need to uncheck this in the basic
settings.

Hi, Jim. I told you to open the wrong Verbocity level settings. The one Mike told you is correct, and you will find the block quotations there, exactly where I thought they are, at the very top, first item.

Hi Jim,

This setting changed as of Jaws2018.  Here are the newer steps.
1. Open the Settings Center, Insert / Jaws Key + 6, on the number row and press, Control, Shift + D, to open default all applications.

2. Arrow down to, Web / HTML / PDF's, and right arrow to open.

3. Arrow down to, Reading, and right arrow to open.

4. Down arrow to,Configure web verboscity levels closed, and right arrow to open.  Down arrow to, Medium..., and press the spacebar to open.  Do not press enter, press the spacebar here.
Note: the default level is medium for this.

5. Arrow down to, Block quoatation, and uncheck this checkbox.  Now tab to, Okay, press the spacebar, tab to, Apply, press the spacebar, tab to, Okay, and press enter to save and close.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Hi, Jim. Open the application or program in which you are hearing block quotes. Then open JAWS settings center. Then open Verbocity levels. Open configuration for the verbocity level for which JAWS is set in the application you want to change. Uncheck Block Quotations. TAB to OK, and press ENTER. That should do it.

hi i agree It would be greatly appreciated that when the subject changes inside a discussion that the subject is also changed.  because like today i read a few of the  messages and decided that i did not want to read anymore on the specific topic so i just deleted them.  the problem comes up when the subject stays the same but the discussion moves on.  so one has to read everything on a subject to ensure that  they are not  missing any pearls of wisdom.

so please start a new topic if your info has nothing to do with the old discussion  subject.

Hello,
I turned on my development computer today, to try and answer your question, but the computer refused to boot.
Feel free to join the jaws-scripting list at freelists.org and say something about wanting to better understand this function.

My apologies for not getting anything back to you.

Hi again Jonathan,

I've been reading the FS documentation to download for free from the website, including the FSDN, and I want to study the code samples contained in the Jaws share scripts,  but I haven't found how to access the code. For instance, I want to have a look at the VKSelect scripts, but whenever I try to open it, a message pops up saying that this script is present in the .JSD documentation but not in the default.JSS file, so I can't really look into the code.

Is there another way in which I can access the codes?

I do remember that one time when I told somebody that the JAWS-HELP functions have the ability to let you know what script is attached to a specific function, that somebody complained about this being very basic information. But here is a snippet that might help the original question:
,

If you need code samples, than you have to study JAWS
shared scripts.
They are inexhaustible collections of examples!
By the way, you can contact Vispero and could buy some
overpriced script writing training materials. But they
contain "common script writing guidelines" only.

On the other hand, the new FSDN much better than the
previous ones! You have to download it and look!

Back on the reference of a mailing list for doctors, let's say specifically urologist. If you wrote an inquiry asking why does it hurt when I urinate? I doubt anybody would appreciate answering. However if you ask a question giving several symtoms, and results of basic tests then there would be interest in answering the question.
Just like if everybody on the JFW list kept asking how do I get latest version of JAWs, there might be some grumpy people on list. In fact, the NVDA list admins, are fairly particular now, that people stay in a strict bandwidth.

Hello,
It is possible that FS put script definitions in default.jsd that are
not in default.jss. Default.jss does include several "use" statements
that include code from other libraries. Also, the psd d files are used
for the command to insert a function in code, and for the  verification
that parameters are correctly listed for functions.
There is a JAWS scripting list on freelists. This list has most of the
professional scripters on it, so they get impatient if people ask fairly
simple questions. Also, if you ask can I get a script for Application X,
nobody will answer.
Please try to search the archive of over 10 years of scripting history
before asking a question.
Best of luck!

Sorry if any of this has already been mentioned, I'm chiming in a lot late. Hopefully you chose laptop keyboard when Jaws was installed. If so, you should be able to use the caps lock in place of the insert key. Just choose caps lock and J together. I've never seen a laptop without at least the 4 arrow keys. Arrow up to about and enter.

One other idea that I use is a bluetooth keyboard. The receiver plugs into a USB port and I have a full keyboard. Of course I have very large hands so typing on a laptop doesn't work well for me.

Do you have the 6 pack of keys somewhere on your keyboard with a second Insert key?  If so what happens if you press this Insert key + J?  If nothing happens, there's a setting in the Settings Center default all applications that needs to be turned on to use the second Insert key as a Jaws key.  It's under the Keyboard heading / Jaws Insert key.

Capslock+ j is not mapped to the JAWS window in the laptop keyboard layout.

It is used for jumping to the prior word on the home row.

Hello, everyone.

Does anyone have an easy way to import IE Favorites into the Google Chrome Bookmarks list?

I have done this before, using the below instructions, but now can’t seem to get the process to work.

My sighted spouse even tried, using the mouse, and couldn’t get the favorites list to import either.

Here are those instructions:

To import your IE book marks, Press alt F and you will be in the vertical Chrome menu. Arrow down to book marks and press the right arrow. Now, arrow down to where it says import book marks and settings... Press enter on that, and you will be able to import your favorites and settings from IE.
