You can buy a single user license or a 5-user license.

A single user license lets you install Leasey on the same amount of computers where you can install Jaws, I believe that is 3.

Hi,

I was listening to another podcast where Brian Hartgen was talking about Leasy.  So many cool features; I think I’ll order a copy.  One question before I do, though.  Brian talked about the grave accent key being the ‘leasy key”.  In Outlook, I tend to use the Alt grave accent key combination to move focus to the main body of emails and calendar invitations.  Will this be a conflict once I install Leasy?

Excuse me, but that is a subjective statement that might reflect your views, but having a few pleasures in life is all some have, so your assertions are rude and egocentric.

But regarding Jaws, a good reason to keep ones SMA is that they might prefer to keep using that version of Jaws and not have it time out after a year, and perhaps they don't care that their copy of Jaws is out dated.

Personally, I'm happy using 2019.

I believe in the US the Jaws Home SMA is $120 so just as with the $165 Canadian this works out to $60 a year with an SMA giving you 2 major updates so basically updates for 2 years.

But I also heard the cost for the SMA is supposed to go up, if and when and by how much I don't know, but I assume Vispero may like the subscription approach which means regular income even though it also means no more expensive one-time purchase costs for somebody who buys Jaws for the first time. Yes, for somebody who had Jaws for a long time it's currently cheaper to buy the SMA, but still paying $90 a year ($7.50 a month) in the US or $120 a year ($10 a month) here in Canada really is still a pretty affordable way to own Jaws. I always had a bit of a hard time understanding the complaints people had about Jaws being so horribly expensive to maintain, but currently in the US we are talking $5 a month if you break down the $120 SMA cost over 24 months and even people who are on some sort of income assistance and so on often spend more than that on less important things each month. At $165 this works out to $6.875 a month in Canadian Dollars which is about the price of an expensive cup of coffee, a couple of bags of Doridos, a few candy bars and on goes the list of all the little items many of us buy on a regular bases but don't really need.

I use a usb sound adaptor and have a wireless headset base plugged in to it and I have been using this setup for over two years. once you have your setup installed, press insert plus j then down arrow to utilities and then to sound cards and press enter.select the device you wish to use with JAWS and press enter. the selection should stay once selected.

Hi Andrew,

This should be fairly straightforward. Try the following:

1. Go to the Contacts folder you wish to export from.
2. Press Alt+F to pull down the File menu.
3. Arrow down to find "Open and Export" and then tab into that dialogue box.
4. Tab across to Open and Export and press Enter.
5. I've not detailed all the following steps as I think you should be able to work it out from there. You just need to ensure you highlight the correct folder to export from and set the various parameters in a small series of dialogue boxes.

Let us know if you need further help.

launched, but now it has a counter and it stops working after 200 actions,
so I need another audio editor.
GW is 60 dollars to purchase, or 20 dollars per year.
That is more than I want to spend, more like 20 dollars for the unlimited
time would be more like it for me.
So another recommendation would be good.

Hi, Tom.

1. Open Settings, Windows key plus I.

2. TAB to the categories list, and select Update and Security, press ENTER.

3. TAB to the list of categories, and select Windows Update, press ENTER.

4. TAB past the Check for Updates button, and see if there is a Download
and Install link.

5. If there is a Download and Install link, read your screen with JAWS
key plus B, and listen to see if the update is described as a Feature
Update.

6. If it is a Feature Update, it will probably be version 20H1 or 20H2.

7. Even if it turns out to be 20H1, after you install it, you will
probably soon get the update for 20H2.

Richard,

Don't force the issue.  Windows will send you the update in due time.  I
don't know what criteria they use as to who and what computers get the
updates but, if you haven't received the, 20H2, update yet Microsoft is
finding a reason to not send you the update and updating prematurely
could cause adverse reactions to your operating system or in other
words,be a total pain in the ass!

You're running an older version.  The latest is, 20H2, not 2004, and

And if things don't settle down, it will be important to know what
update(s) were applied.  Presuming this is Windows 10, you can determine
that in Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update Pane, using the View
Update History button.  The most likely pertinent candidates are either
under Feature Updates (less likely, but possible) or Quality Updates.
The "Successfully installed on" line will give you the respective dates.

Hi David,

Does that mean you can hear Jaws when you're sharing your screen with sound whilst showing a video, without Jaws being heard by the other meeting participants?

That's exactly the way I did it with a 3 channel mixer I got from Amazon, it works great. I can hear the Zoom conference yet hear Jaws through my hearing aids, if I want. Sometimes I don't want to hear who left or join the meeting.

3. Arrow down to find "Open and Export" and then tab into that dialogue
box.
4. Tab across to Open and Export and press Enter.
5. I've not detailed all the following steps as I think you should be able
to work it out from there. You just need to ensure you highlight the
correct folder to export from and set the various parameters in a small
series of dialogue boxes.

Let us know if you need further help.

In January of this year, I decided to install Windows 10, 19-09, on all 5 systems.  So far, Microsoft has updaded all 5 computers to the latest version of Windows 10.

I have a friend who purchased a new computer last January. It came with 19-09 installed. His machine has not been updated from 19-09 as yet.

There seems to be no logic as to how Microsoft's update utility and system works in deciding which systems should receive updates and when.

I still have one HP Envy laptop that has remained on Version 1909, and Windows Update is definitely not broken, as the 2020-12 cumulative update to version 1909 showed up for it either yesterday or today, I don't remember when I first saw it.

Two other HP laptops I have, including this one, went to 20H2 one month ago, tomorrow.  Feature Update roll outs are generally a months long affair and, in certain cases, this being one of them, a feature update may be skipped on a given machine.  I doubt that Envy will ever see Version 2004.

2. TAB to the categories list, and select Update and Security, press ENTER.

3. TAB to the list of categories, and select Windows Update, press ENTER.

4. TAB past the Check for Updates button, and see if there is a Download and Install link.

5. If there is a Download and Install link, read your screen with JAWS key plus B, and listen to see if the update is described as a Feature Update.

6. If it is a Feature Update, it will probably be version 20H1 or 20H2.

7. Even if it turns out to be 20H1, after you install it, you will probably soon get the update for 20H2.

Hi,

A more efficient way is using touch cursor to inspect the screen controls.

A huge clarification: there is no 20H1.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi, Tom.

1. Open Settings, Windows key plus I.

2. TAB to the categories list, and select Update and Security, press ENTER.

3. TAB to the list of categories, and select Windows Update, press ENTER.

Bill:

How exactly do I find this out?

Yesterday, I got some sort of an update to Windows version 1909, so I am assuming auto-updates is already turned on.

I guess I’m just thinking that Windows 10 version 2004 will come to my computer in time.

Hi, Tom. If you have an update in your windows updates that says download and install, that is the 20H2 update, waiting for you to download and install it.

Mike:

It’s interesting.

This Windows 10 computer is still back on Windows version 1909.

I have thought about forcing the update, but have decided to just let it happen when it will.

If this is unwise, I hope someone will let me know.

I’m working based on the old addage:  “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”.

Richard,

Don't force the issue.  Windows will send you the update in due time.  I don't know what criteria they use as to who and what computers get the updates but, if you haven't received the, 20H2, update yet Microsoft is finding a reason to not send you the update and updating prematurely could cause adverse reactions to your operating system or in other words,be a total pain in the ass!

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Thanks Mike,

I guess it ain’t my turn yet as checking for updates doesn’t give me anything different.

Richard,

You're running an older version.  The latest is, 20H2, not 2004, and it's OS version 19042.685.  This newer 20H2 version is using 19042 where the older 2004 versions are at 19041.

I have 2004 OS build 1941.685, it was 1941.630.

Are you sure about the 1942 part of that number?

Brian, Here’s what I found:

December 8, 2020—KB4592438 (OS Builds 19041.685 and 19042.685)

Applies to: Windows 10, version 2004, all editionsWindows Server version 2004Windows 10, version 20H2, all editions More

It didn’t say the update was or was not successful. I assume it was.

Am I the only one who got this one?

And if things don't settle down, it will be important to know what update(s) were applied.  Presuming this is Windows 10, you can determine that in Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update Pane, using the View Update History button.  The most likely pertinent candidates are either under Feature Updates (less likely, but possible) or Quality Updates.  The "Successfully installed on" line will give you the respective dates.
