If you use Jaws you can enable what is called Virtual Ribbons, they convert the ribbon menus to a more traditional menu. However, I highly reecommend you simply get used to the ribbon menu, it's here to stay at least for now and in my opinion it's better to learn how to deal with it.

That's good to know. But it's sad to realize that Microsoft is
the only major player to have created an accessible database
management gui driven app and not the other major players like
Oracle or the open source alternatives like MYSQL or PostGreSql.

Re: Does TOAD for Oracle work with JAWS?
Walker, Michael E
Hi Pam,
Yes, I remember you and I talking about sqlplus this past summer. My team is using TOAD to access Oracle for now though, but I am prepared, if I have to fall back on sqlplus.

I use sqlplus from the command line directly on the database server or the command prompt on my PC to access the oracle databases that I manage. I have been curious about TOAD, but a license for it is needed at my company so I haven’t gotten hold of it yet.

Actually, the only nearly accessible gui driven database management app that I know of is mssql studio, from Microsoft, but I personally don't use it, so I can't really comment. I also know that Eclipse has some database management related Plugins, but I don't use them either. I have reached the stage of being so comfortable with managing databases with the command line that It really doesn't bother me one way or the other. But it would be good if someone comes up with an accessible gui driven database management application though. Cheers! On 9/12/2020 2:58 am, Don Mauck wrote:

Jaffar,
SQL Server Management Studio is very accessible. I use it all the time.

Hi. I work with Oracle when I have to do Database Management projects. Unfortunately the only way to access it is through the CLI. I have no idea about access where Toad is concerned. I do not think there is any accessible GUI clients to help us manage databases and it's been like this since time imemorial. Cheers! On 8/12/2020 10:07 pm, Walker, Michael E wrote:

I am using a similar setup to yours. Mine was a bit unstable at first but, cross my fingers, it has been stable for a couple of years. On the other hand, we tried a separarte USB card in my wife's desktop and it never functioned successfully. There are too many variables to get a handle on. Good luck. Yeah this definitely is not normal behavior. You might want to try reinstalling the sound car drivers and the USB sound card. It’s a basic question but have you tried restarting your computer?

Hi group,
I hope everyone is doing well. I have my Jaws 2020 going through a USB sound card. I have all other sounds going through my default sound card to external speakers. I am running into times when Jaws gets set back to the default sound card and the system sounds come through my headphones. Or all sounds come through the default card (external speakers) or through the headphones. Or Jaws goes through the default card and the system sounds through my headphones. How can I get Jaws and Windows 10 to retain my settings? I need to keep this setup for hosting Zoom meetings. I have downloaded System Volume View but haven’t installed it yet. Would working with this program to set profiles for different configurations be easier than working with the Win 10 settings?
Thanks for reading, Norma
