Re: Does TOAD for Oracle work with JAWS?
Jaffar Sidek <jaffar.sidek10@...>
Hi. I work with Oracle when I have to do Database Management
projects. Unfortunately the only way to access it is through the
CLI. I have no idea about access where Toad is concerned. I do
not think there is any accessible GUI clients to help us manage
databases and it's been like this since time imemorial. Cheers!

Does TOAD for Oracle work with JAWS?
Walker, Michael E
Hi,
Has anyone figured out how to get TOAD for Oracle to work with JAWS, for viewing database tables, views, and querying them?
Thank you, Mike

Re: Excel power query

I am also not aware of specific jaws tutorials for power query. If you are proficient with jaws, you should be able to get started with power query. I just dove in and started using it. If it seems kind of slow, be mindful of the queries that you write when you pull data. Only pull the data that you need. Write the SQL that gets the data that you need. Mike

Re: 2nd sound card for Jaws, retaining settings

I found just going into the sound card submenu in JAWS, and selecting the USB card, works fine for me. It is a mystery why it doesn’t work for you. I’ve been using a second soundcard for at least 7 months now with no problems.

Hi group,
I hope everyone is doing well. I have my Jaws 2020 going through a USB sound card. I have all other sounds going through my default sound card to external speakers. I am running into times when Jaws gets set back to the default sound card and the system sounds come through my headphones. Or all sounds come through the default card (external speakers) or through the headphones. Or Jaws goes through the default card and the system sounds through my headphones. How can I get Jaws and Windows 10 to retain my settings? I need to keep this setup for hosting Zoom meetings. I have downloaded System Volume View but haven’t installed it yet. Would working with this program to set profiles for different configurations be easier than working with the Win 10 settings?

Bill White <billwhite92701@...>
Hi, David. First off, I must tell you that I don't have Word 365. That said, though, I have seen this issue before. Do you have JAWS 20 on your system? Does Word 365 behave the same way with that screen reader, or another version of JAWS? Is your zoom level in Word set to 100%? Is your monitor's resolution set correctly?

Running Windows 10, version 2004, on a Dell OptiPlex 740, with Word 365 and JAWS 2021. When I navigate across text with left arrow or right arrow JAWS will sometimes say "blank" instead of what is under the cursor. The problem is intermittent but it occurs often enough that I can usually make it happen. I just noticed it this evening and I know it never occurred with JAWS 2020. I don't remember if I've done a lot of cursor navigation using Word and JAWS 2021 but I imagine that I must have done so. I'm not sure if this is due to a problematic Word update. I've unloaded and restarted JAWS but this did not fix the problem. Enhanced editor support is enabled in Settings Center using the Word configuration. Re: jaws dealer here in Canada
David Diamond
When I needed assistive devices, The CNIB said they would not help me unless I signed a contract with them to assess me, say what devices I needed, deal with them exclusively and the final was they had to train me. One of the things I needed was JAWS. I viewed that as extortion. For the sighted it would be the equivalent of not being allowed to look at merchandise in a store unless you contractually agreed to purchase it from that dealership/vender. IMO, I'd stay as far away from the CNIB as I could. It was their constantly trying to hit a home run with government agencies, as in insisting the client needed something a lot more then they really did. That was their undoing. If the client has no vision, they hardly need a computer with hi-tech video graphics.

What I don't understand is if they own all the distributors, what is there to work on? It seems to me a simple matter of leaving a file on a server somewhere, I don't understand the nature of the problem.

Good afternoon Sharon,

I personally have recently dealt with them at Optelec Canada back in this past October, who are located just outside Montreal to get a jaws upgrade to the latest version of jaws and found them to have really good customer service-they got back to me right away with what I thought was a really fair, comparable price. Here is their contact info: Optelec Canada Inc. | Groupe/Part of VFOTM 1812 boul. Marie-Victorin | Longueuil | QC J4G 1Y9 .................................................................................. Phone 800-665-3005 Fax 450-677-1462 CanadaSales@Vispero.com www.optelec.com Kindest regards, Hank

I did deal with Frontier computing in Toronto for many years. I wrote them in the summer though and there was no response. I understand they are somehow under CNIB. Does anyone have any recent experience with them or other vendors? I, too, would like to update my SMA before year end, but do not know of which vendors to consider and what a true price point is. My current licence is good until version 2018, can I just update my licence, or will I have to buy a whole new licence and copy of Jaws? Can I buy from Freedom Scientific, or do I have to buy from a Canadian dealer? I really hope someone can help me, as I've never done this before. Thanks Madison
