update time
Stan Holdeman
Hi All: At 11 AM I started installation of the latest Windows 10 update. It took 7 hours! Isn’t that unusually long? Have others had such a long installation?
Fortunately all seems to be working well.

Re: upgrading Jaws
blind kisses
Hi there, I am also in Canada, and recently had to deal with this issue. You do not have to buy a new version of jaws you can upgrade. It is cheaper to upgrade then to buy the new version. If you are on jaws 18 and want to upgrade to jaws 21 and you bypass the upgrades to jaws 19 and jaws 20 then yes you will have to purchase A whole new version which costs $1030 Canadian. If you want to upgrade you can upgrade to 2019 2020, 2021, and have a license for 2022 to upgrade for $480 Canadian plus taxes if you are not registered with the CNIB. If you’re registered with CNIB you will not have to pay taxes. You cannot purchase from Freedom Scientific there is a Canadian number. Their telephone number is 1 (800) 665-3005 God the father chose her God the sun dwelt in her God the spirit overshadowed her Most holy mother of God save us through your intercessions @FiogkosZoe Love Isn't butterflies in your stomach, love is the heart beat you feel when he's late

Can someone help?

I was wondering why in the JAWS 2020 and 2021 version the screen reader is announcing "to activate press enter" on buttons. It was spacebar for years and just curious for the change?

Jaws is not currently used in any hand-held devices I know of. Iphones use VoiceOver, Android devices use Talkback or Voice Assistant.
I know some stores use Android based devices for tracking their inventory that can have the Voice Assistant or Talkback enabled. Some did use iPod Touches for this so VoiceOver was used.
Are there specific devices you are asking about?

Hello all,
A quick question. Is JAWS able to be used with devices other than windows based computers? Do they embed this software into hand-held devices?
If not, I hope I’m not out of context and pardon if so. What TTS software is embedded into electronical hand held devices or capable of being?
Thanks all,

The Digital signature market seems to have come about because of all the remote transactions, even pre-Covid.
Personally, I would go with a scan of my signature.

A scanned signature is not the same thing as a digital signature.
Just like many organizations will accept, say, a FAX copy of an original document with signature, they'll also accept anything else that produces what looks like the originator's actual signature when printed. When I submit billing sheets to the Virginia DBVI they all have a scanned copy of my signature inserted on the signature line, in Excel, in that case. Digital signatures are a thing of their own. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide

Leo
hello, I'm sorry if
my question is beyond stupidity, but is it a scanned signature
the same as digital signature? it's because as far as I
remember, someone explained to me how to add a signature in
word, but I never got luck because whenever I tried it out, MS
word redirected me to some websites to make some payment or
something like that... Leo “Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” ― haruki murakami, On 12/4/2020 4:47 PM, Brian Vogel

Re: facebook

Some like all that fluff that you get with the regular website. I also am now using edge as my web browser to access Facebook with JAWS 21. I bounced around between Firefox and Google for a while because one would not read out info or would skip over info such as the groups I'm on. So, perhaps you could use the link provided by Anne and use Edge as your browser. It works so well now, I don't need to use another.

It depends on what sort of functionality you want with facebook.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Mbasic.facebook.com is a very neutered version of facebook with minimal use of the features of the platform. That's actually ok with me. But it's really up to you. The standard site is perfectly usable with screen-readers, but it can be a bit overwhelming, with a lot of dynamic content and so on.
