Thanks Richard. Until you and Ann responded, I didn’t know that. Sometimes I tune out information when I don’t have the need to use it—then suddenly I do need it. I may have accidentally pressed “names” at some point by mistake.

Thanks again.

A further note on how this happens; if you press control+o to open a document and shift+tab to get to your files, the first button you land on is Name…. If you accidentally press space or enter on that button, you will reverse the order of the files.

Hi,

Go to the documents folder.

If a file is selected, press ctrl+Spacebar to deselect it.

Now press Shift+F10 to open the context menu.

Choose how you want to sort the files.

Thanks,

Hi,

Go to the documents folder.

If a file is selected, press ctrl+Spacebar to deselect it.

Now press Shift+F10 to open the context menu.

Choose how you want to sort the files.

Thanks,

Everything was fine last night when I shut down. Today, poof! They’re in reverse alphabetic order.

Thanks for any help.

Press insert+6 on the number row to open the settings center while on a web page for that browser's settings, or press control+shift+d for the default settings.
Type sound in the search box and arrow down. You should hear:
1 of 9 Search Results
There are options that have to do with forms mode sounds that you can deselect, or select different sounds....

I am running Jaws 2021 on a win 10 system. I have forms mode set to manual. When I arrow down a web page Jaws makes a sound when I land on a link and other controls. Is there a way to stop this?

Like Mario, I have typically had mine on Manual for the same reasons. So many sites have search boxes and newsletter sign-up boxes and such and I want to just breeze by them without Forms mode triggering as I'm exploring. It's good every once in a while to change a setting, though, and see if my opinion on it has changed.

I have forms mode set to manual. it is just as easy to type e to navigate to an edit field and see if it's the one that's needed. I don't like the automatic setting for forms mode especially when just reviewing what's on a web page. semi automatic is ok but I still prefer manual.

When it comes to forms mode, what are your preferences for settings:
manual, automatic, semi-automatic? And any particular reasons for your preference? Mine is set to automatic but I'm now wondering if there might be something better. I'd like to hear others have to say, while I experiment.

Weird.  I've never had anything untoward happen with using the control key for silence in excel.  Navigation seems quite fast for me in excel, you may be suffering from an old computer.

is anyway to disable CTRL shortcut for showing toolbar?
 I'm using excel 2016.

another point, more than friend of mine noticed ms-excel (all versions) navigation slow with jaws 2019 and above on windows10, any solution for this matter?
