An easy way is when you are in the list of documents, tab once. It will say 'name, split button'. Press enter and the docs will turn themselves right-side-up again. Do it a second time and the list will flip over the other way.

You are probably right, that extra verbiage is annoying, but Jaws does say what you want after the unnecessary chatter about alert messages and chats …if you keep listening.

What are you expecting to hear with insert+tab? The Jaws help says that command “JAWSKey+Tab Says the current window and the associated prompt label.”
I’m guessing that is the associated prompt.

A further note on how this happens; if you press control+o to open a document and shift+tab to get to your files, the first button you land on is Name…. If you accidentally press space or enter on that button, you will reverse the order of the files.

Like Mario, I have typically had mine on Manual for the same reasons. So many sites have search boxes and newsletter sign-up boxes and such and I want to just breeze by them without Forms mode triggering as I'm exploring. It's good every once in a while to change a setting, though, and see if my opinion on it has changed.

1. Put the words virtual ribbon into the search box. 2. When you see Virtual Ribbon, press the TAB key, and you will hear the following if you use the up and down arrows to read, Select this check box to turn on the Virtual Ribbon Menu. When it is on, the Ribbon is organized and navigated using a traditional menu and submenu format. This is true for any application that uses Ribbon menus. This makes it easy to navigate using ARROW keys or first letter navigation. This option is only available when Default settings are selected in the Application combo box.
