Hi,

You can use JAWS Key + H to get help with basic keyboard commands.

You can also find information on how to use Google Docs on the pass Webinar page on the Vispero/Freedom Scientific website.

Glenn / Lenny

Hi,
I've been trying to find a manual for my police scanner, a radio shack 2032.
I found this on Google Docs:
and it says to do control + alt + Z for screenreader accessibility, and I do that and it says screenreader mode, or something like that and that control + slash is supposed to give me keyboard commands, but that does not happen.
I'm not able to read anything other than the title of the page.
Does anyone have a clue how to use this, and/or, can please download it for me, PDF or other?
Thanks
Glenn

Hi,

Are there any users of Azzcardfile?
With Jaws 2021 I can not longer see text in a card when selecting it in

This is on win10.

Hi, Tom. Have you tried exiting JAWS, running Narrator, and trying to ALT
TAB between three or more programs? Does it work, or are you still
restricted to switching between only the last two programs? If you are
restricted using Narrator, it is a Windows problem, not a JAWS 2021 problem.
If, indeed, JAWS is what is restricting your view of the programs with ALT
TAB, I don't know what to tell you. I am using JAWS 2021, and I am not
having this problem.

One thing you might try is to use the command,

JAWS key plus SPACE, followed by Z

to put you into Alternate User Directory mode. This will cause all JAWS
configurations to become temporarily inactive until you perform the same
command,

JAWS key plus SPACE, followed by Z

again. This will help you to determine if it is something in your JAWS user
settings that is causing this restriction in switching between programs.

I have a slight problem. If I have more than 2 programs running and I try to
switch to the 3rd or 4th program with alt, tab I can only switch to the
first 2 programs that are running. Using insert F10 I can see all 4
running programs and switch to the one I want to use. Makes it difficult
when I am paying bills and have running the bank, Jaws and my bills paid
document. Every time I switch to see what and how much the net bill is I
have tuse insert F10 to switch to the bills paid document. Never was this
way till Jaws 2021. How do I get back to where I can alt tab to all the open
programs. Thanks Tom

Hi, Shirley.

I’m not having this problem but I did some time ago. Another lister, Debby Hill, suggested moving the cursor to the second character of the link, and it worked. It may be a workaround, but if it works for you, it should alleviate some frustration.

Since I installed the JAWS 2021 version, I have started having trouble opening links. At first I noticed it with Windows Mail, but now it happens on websites. Do any of you have the same issues? Is this something connected with the latest update? Or is it my computer? It’s getting frustrating.

I’m using a desktop with Windows 10 and the latest JAWS.

Can anyone help?

Tom,

Then this one is a case of, "search me?"   There are certain changes to Windows 10 and Edge both that can trigger something similar, and that's easy to reverse, under Windows 10.  I have no idea what may be going on under Windows 7 (and at this point barely remember many "under the hood" details of Windows 7, having been away from it entirely since 2015).

On web sites, it is more reliable to tab or use the next link command.

Tom,

I have this happen to me on rare occasions.  I have pretty much determined it occurs when my real memory gets a bit short.  If I re-boot it goes away.  Like I said, this is really rare for me, but if it occurred more often I probably would change my memory settings. In my case, I believe it occurs because of the way I set my real / virtual memory.

When it happens I use the Win key + tab to find the pgm I want.

What used to be Computer/My Computer has been "This PC" in File Explorer since the advent of Windows 8.  If you expand "This PC" in the folder tree view in File Explorer (formerly Windows Explorer) you'll see the list you're expecting to see.  The details regarding the exact type of drive are, of course, over in the file list area.

Try windowsKey+e for Explorer.

First letter navigation works here, so if you have drives that are named, you can jump to them with the first letter.

Otherwise, arrow down until you find the drive you want.

On my system, if I press o, I land on the C drive.  It is labeled OSC by default for me.

Hi, Stan. The JAWS feature for which you are searching is Mouse Echo. This is accomplished in the following way,

1. Press JAWS key plus SPACE, followed by the letter E.

Then perform one of the following commands.

The following commands are available in the Mouse Echo layer.
Toggle mouse echo On/Off = O.
Set mouse echo to character = C.
Set mouse echo to word = W.
Set mouse echo to line = L.
Set mouse echo to paragraph = P.

Richard: I should of focused my question better.

With J2020 and Magic running, as I pulled the mouse pointer over the text in a story panel, Jaws read the contents of that story panel. What enabled Jaws to read that text? There must be a way to enable Jaws to read the text with or without Magic.

I do not have an answer about the newspaper panels, but it sounds like Vispero has reached the point of requiring folks to use Fusion which is Jaws plus ZoomText, rather than continuing Magic support. Of course, you will have to ask Vispero to be sure.

So this my main problem. In the E edition of my local newspaper I could read the story panels only with Magic running and I would pull the mouse pointer to the story panel and jaws would read the contents of that story panel. I could read those story panels in no other way.

I feel certain there is a way to get Jaws to read these panels without Magic running. Any ideas?
