Hi, Tom. Have you tried exiting JAWS, running Narrator, and trying to ALT TAB between three or more programs? Does it work, or are you still restricted to switching between only the last two programs? If you are restricted using Narrator, it is a Windows problem, not a JAWS 2021 problem. If, indeed, JAWS is what is restricting your view of the programs with ALT TAB, I don't know what to tell you. I am using JAWS 2021, and I am not having this problem.
One thing you might try is to use the command,
JAWS key plus SPACE, followed by Z
to put you into Alternate User Directory mode. This will cause all JAWS configurations to become temporarily inactive until you perform the same command,
JAWS key plus SPACE, followed by Z
again. This will help you to determine if it is something in your JAWS user settings that is causing this restriction in switching between programs.

I have a slight problem. If I have more than 2 programs running and I try to switch to the 3rd or 4th program with alt, tab I can only switch to the first 2 programs that are running. Using insert F10 I can see all 4 running programs and switch to the one I want to use. Makes it difficult when I am paying bills and have running the bank, Jaws and my bills paid document. Every time I switch to see what and how much the net bill is I have tuse insert F10 to switch to the bills paid document. Never was this way till Jaws 2021. How do I get back to where I can alt tab to all the open programs. Thanks Tom

Access to network licence via VPN
Jacob
Hi!
In the job we use network licences for JAWS and ZoomText. It works fine but if a client leave the building the licence is ofcourse lost. Does any one know if it's possible to get access to a licence if I install a VPN server on the PC that host the licence server? Then the clients can connect via VPN when they're out of range on our wifi to grab a licence. Also one more important question. If it's possible will it be legal then? The meaning is ofcourse only to give access to the licences for our own PC's. OZ0TE Jacob

The problem with going back to Jaws 18 or Jaws 2018 is that if he has a relatively new version of Windows 10 there could be other issues. The advice to upgrade Office is really the best here, Office 2010 has been long unsupported let alone Office 2007.

The other option is to try JAWS 18, or JAWS 19 as these versions of JAWS were written more closely to the date of the version of Excel you want to use. There have been significant changes to Outlook products to improve security and prevent rogue scripts from effecting your system, however this means that JAWS had to completely revanp their way they talk to Outlook products in the last few years.

How Can I Copy a Link inside Zoom Chat with JAWS?
Rick Miller
Dear Listers:
Every Sunday during an online Zoom meeting with people from church, the host puts a list of questions for us to consider when in breakout rooms. The questions are in Googledocs, and the link to the questions is always inside Zoom chat. I don’t know if there is a way that this list of questions in Googledocs can be copied from within the chat list and then opened up afterwards. Have any of you ever been faced with this problem, and what did you do about it?

Hi, Don. Here is what the option on Smart Reading says:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Select this check box to have JAWS read the entire text unit, such as a compound word, telephone number, date, time, or math equation, when using the Say Word command. Note: Cursor movement is controlled by the application. So, if Microsoft Word's cursor normally navigates the entire text unit as one word or number, then the text is read in the same way. Likewise, if an application, such as WordPad, navigates through each component of the text unit, then JAWS will read it the same way. This check box is selected by default. I do not have an answer about the newspaper panels, but it sounds like Vispero has reached the point of requiring folks to use Fusion which is Jaws plus ZoomText, rather than continuing Magic support. Of course, you will have to ask Vispero to be sure.

Hello John,

I am using the Outlook app Office365 version installed on my computer with JAWS2021 and it is working just fine using Focus40 braille display fifth generation. I also tried it on my work computer and same result. At this point, I think that there may be an issue with your locally installed copy of JAWS. Another way to test this is by first exiting Outlook pressing insert space followed by z this will place you in the JAWS default directory similar to how JAWS came from the factory. See if Outlook is still causing an issue with your braille display once you place JAWS in this mode this is a toggle so pressing insert space z will take you back to how JAWS had been configured before.

Re: Jaws and web tables
Cohn, Jonathan
Hello,
Are you attempting to get all information about a table in one shot? Perhaps you can give an example of a site you often visit that is public, and what you would like to review. JAWS has smart table navigation and a dedicated table navigation mode along with features to change the table header information, from what is defined in the table. So JAWS can be very powerful with tables especially if you use a braille display. Jonathan

Actually it’s working in the other apps I’ve tried including word – just not Outlook. And in fact it’s not just my Mantis, it’s my Focus 40. So it appears it might be something to do with settings. I’ve checked Structured mode is on and Braille Sleep is not enabled. It’s the same in Bluetooth and in the USB connection. I’ve loaded the Outlook specific settings with Insert 6 and all looks okay as far as I can tell.

Have you checked there? Also, I’m wondering if the Narrator braille is blocking your access to braille.
