Step 5, tab to OK and press Enter to close Settings Center.

However, I noticed that the download from Sourceforge was spelled with a z not a c.  the one with the z is some Italian software that hasn’t been updated since 2013.

Hello,

Do any of you notice this behavior when using JAWS 2021? I’m writing a document, and sometimes, when I need to backspace, JAWS doesn’t repeat the character that’s been deleted through that method—the backspace key. It’s happened about three times now, and I have my key echo set to words. However, I don’t think this should have any problem, as for now in the currently typed message, the backspace works fine/as usual. This is the only bug I’ve found so far with the new JAWS.

I’ve had the same problem in the past. Problem was Word was in page view rather than draft mode. Switch to draft mode(ctrl, alt N) and you should be fine.

I have a truly crazy thing happening.

This happened in Jaws 2020 as well as 2021.

I have about a 9 page document with a simple list of the books we’ve read in our book group since 2008.

Each month’s book is on a separate line.

I just added the list from 2020.

When I then went back to review by arrowing up and down, it suddenly jumped from 2017 to the middle of a list I have at the end of other books that had been suggested.

But, if I select all, and copy into a text editor like Notetab Pro, everything is there as it should be.

Another odd thing is sometimes when arrowing up or down, when I hit a page break that is a “soft page break” meaning I did not put in a hard page break, I get the Windows error sounds and cannot arrow beyond that line into the next page.

I have to left arrow from the beginning of the line, or right arrow from the end of the line to get beyond that point.

I have the line spacing set to 1, I use Times New Roman 12 point font.

I’m not doing any fancy headings or font changes.

The window is maximized.

Any ideas what kind of Gremlin I have?

Immediately after installing JAWS 2021 this morning, I noticed that
speech at the beginning of words was being cut off when moving
around in dialog boxes, list views, et cetera. As you can well
imagine, the situation was intolerable and crazy-making . If this

is selected, JAWS will keep them awake by constantly playing

Note that the battery of your headphones/speakers could drain faster
if you turn this on.
This check box is cleared by default.”

Checking that checkbox will eliminate the speech cutoff. However,
the side effect is that some events will trigger a reduction in
speech volume, which can be troublesome if you’re only using a
laptop’s speakers. I compensated for this dip in volume by using
powered, wired external speakers.

Step 4, tab to the Apply button and press Enter or the space bar.
Step 5, tab to OK and press Enter to close Settings Center.

Note: The checkbox referenced in step 3 above is unchecked by
default in JAWS 2020 and Fusion 2020, and there is no speech cutoff.
So this is a bug which was apparently introduced in 2021 which needs
to be reported to Freedom Scientific.
