Hello to everyone,
This morning I was listening to an archived program on a website, using Chrome. Are there specific commands to move back and forwards within audio/video files, (also Pause and Stop) using Chrome?

Calendar.google.com should take you directly there.

Hello, I’m using recent versions of windows10 and Jaws2020. There are many times I will arrow down the page and a line of text or a few lines are repeated. Does anyone else encounter this issue? It happens using Google Chrome and FireFox. Thanks, Kevin

shift f10 seems like a lot of extra steps. A page can have lots of links and I was hoping there might be a setting in jaws that would say a link is external. It would give quick cues when navigating through a page quickly. I know it will say same page link for links that go to a spot on the page. Maybe jaws just does not have that feature

Enabling Calendar Notifications using Google Docs
Rick Miller
Dear Listers:
I am learning how to use Google Calendar. I have learned to create an event and have learned to edit one and set notifications for one, but, for example, if I set a notification for two days in advance of the event, the notification never pops up. Somebody from Vispero Support got in touch with me and suggested I enable accessability using Google Docs. I got into Google Docs by first going to my home page using Google Chrome, which is my default Internet browser. After I bring up my home page I try getting into Google Docs by first going to the address bar using the Control+L key combination and then entering docs.google.com. The technician at Freedom Scientific told me that accessibility would be in the Tools menu which, according to him, I would activate using the key combination Alt+Shift+T. I have tried this, but instead of the tools menu popping up I see a list of recently viewed documents. I have also found myself in a menu asking you to either reload a document or do other things. I have tried to seek help from many people but have gotten nowhere, and if I discover I cannot access the Tools menu I might just give up on Google Calendar and go back to using Outlook calendar instead. Can one of you please reach out, even if tomorrow is Sunday and even if it is the weekend?

Re: Outlook Address book
Vaughn,
Just so we are both crystal clear, what are you referring to when you say Outlook? Certain things suggest the standalone email client while others suggest Outlook.com. You also say a couple of things that seem like they refer to the Windows 10 Mail App, which is different from either any Outlook client or Outlook.com. Can you identify what Outlook you're using, including version, e.g., Outlook 2016/2019/365, if it's the client or Outlook.com? Is the Windows 10 Mail App in the mix somewhere? I have to know where to look, precisely, in order to give you the answers you seek, if I can do so. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

Re: Outlook Address book
Vaughn Brown
Hello, Brian,
Thank you. I explored Outlook and think I can better explain my goal.
Keep in mind that I am speaking of Win. 10. Apps are similarly named in Windows and Apple devices.
I noticed that Mail has somehow downloaded my contacts. I have an account in Mail for 2 Gmail accounts and an .edu account. I am able to comfortably switch between accounts and able to use address books from each one.
In Outlook the setup is similar regarding accounts. I am receiving emails for each account. Figuring that my university account was the default I ended up removing “my outlook data 1” and defaulting that data to my personal Gmail account. What it looks like a list of address books but no substance. I am truly perplexed as the Mail app automatically downloaded my contacts whereas Outlook did not.
I realized that MS Exchange is for school and work. I also wonder if my Windows 10 being an academic version has anything to do with the settings. It seems to be influencing other computer settings. But I personally purchased Office 365. And registered my personal email for that 365 account.
I read and attempted the whole webmail for Gmail and export my contacts but during the process I realized that this didn’t feel right.
Pardon for the long email but I wanted to be clear. I prefer Outlook as I find it more accessible.
Look forward to your response.
Kindly,
Vaughn

My guess is that this is controlled by which account is set as your primary/default account if you have multiple accounts set up in Outlook. Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

Kandace,
You didn't mention what version of Excel you're using but if you have a Bookshare subscription, you might also look at its website. The book Excel 2010 for Dummies by Greg Harvey is very well done and has at least one chapter on pivot tables. I expect he might have updated the book for later versions of Excel.

Beta and Eloquence
Morey Worthington
Hi all.
This might be my imagination, which is strange, lol, After installing the 2021 Beta, the voice Characteristics of Eloquence, Reed, . The voice sound very gravely and hollow. I have gone into the Voice settings and was trying to find the Pitch setting, but nothing in there, meaning no settings to change the pitch exists. The rate setting is there but nothing else. Any thoughts on why this happened, or did it just happen to me? Thanks -- Morey Worthington

Re: my computer shuts down while I am in outlook 2019.
Dan Longmore
Jim It is possible that Outlook has become corrupted however I suspect that something more is going on behind the scenes. You can do some testing: Does the issue occur if you boot up and just have JAWS running? Does the issue occur with JAWS and another program and not OutLook? May want to run a scan to rule out malware or virus.

Hi all, When I first boot up my computer in the morning, and if I go to my email right away, the computer stays running for awhile and then for no good reason, shuts down. I have to reboot it again, to get it started. It may shut down again, if I stay in outlook, but it usually stays running after one or two reboots. What could cause this? I am running jaws 2021 beta on a windows ten computer. Jim

No, suggestion was not my point. Just making a point that what is easier for some may not be for others and for me the use of the right mouse keystroke is helpful at times in addition to the application key. One size does not fit all especially in the world of assistive technology.
