Hi,

I want to create multiple desktops in Windows 10.  When I press control+windows+d I am put in a new desktop.  However, I cannot figure out how to move between desktops.  I tried control+windows+left or right arrow without success.  Any help is appreciated.

The next door app is updated weekly or bi-weekly. So hopefully, accessibility for the website & the app will be fixed soon. i've been using the next door app for 2 years. There has been only 3 times, in which accessibility was slightly broken.

Hello Group,

For a number of years, I have been a member of the Nextdoor.com neighborhood site, specific to my immediate neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods.

Until recently, I have been able to post messages to the site which I attempted to do e arlier this morning. However, as soon as I opened the message link, and tabbed to the subject field, Jaws stopped speaking. Nonetheless, I tabbed to the message body field and began composing a message. Again, JAWS was silent, so I could not read the content of what I was writing.

I have been using Google Chrome for a couple of months. Could this be a Google issue, or do I need to do a JAWS repair, try a different browser or is Nextdoor no longer accessible as it has been, necessitating bringing this to their attention.

I would guess that some of the US members have and do use this site.

Any help is appreciated.

I am using fusion 2020. I have a PDF I need to fill out for work. There is a fill and sign button on the right, and that allowed me to put a cursor in the fields on the PDF. I can tell that because I use the magnification part effusion. However, jaws will not allow me to fill anything out. Any idea of how I can go about filling out this form?

Thanks very much,

I don't believe Greg is losing focus from the program, but rather from within the program.

I only mean to suggest that this line of thinking probably won't lead to a solution. Limited help, I know.

in which case, the only way to regain focus is to either hold down alt and press tab until the program is spoken, and release the alt and tab keys, or press insert+f10, arrow to the program in question and press enter. the former is sort of a toggle, cycling thru what's running.

The lost focus setting determines whether JAWS announces that focus has been lost. It doesn't fix the problem.

Mike,

I vaguely remember some unnamed keystroke that one could use if Jaws has lost focus; that keystroke rotored through various settings.

As the result of another reply, I have tried using Firefox, but unless I can modify settings, Firefox was painfully slow in responding.  I haven't tried Edge yet, and Chrome is the browser which is having difficulties with the website.

Hi everyone,

I have a website-based question; I am using Windows 10 and Jaws 2020.

I am the primary admin for a Eucharistic adoration ministry in my parish, and that ministry uses a web-based application called We Adore Him to control adorer scheduling.  I have successfully used the software since August 2018 and, after being shut down by COVID-19 since mid-March, we are preparing to open the chapel again.  As a result, I have been assisting adorers to choose an hour in the weekly calendar.
All went well until Wednesday, October 21, when the weekly calendar suddenly would not display when I arrowed to it; it now displays the hour at midnight, tells me that one slot is available, and when I arrow down in order to go to a particular hour of the day, I am at the bottom of the screen.

I am using the Jaws cursor which appears for all websites, and I have checked to be sure that my screen is maximized and in full-screen mode in Chrome.  A sighted tech-savvy friend has assisted me via Zoom and screen-share, and she tells me that the full schedule, showing adorers signed up for this or that hour--is showing on the screen.  I have contacted On Fire Media to ask them if they have been testing and that might be the reason for my issue, but they have not.  They are aware of Jaws and have a demo copy to use.  I can navigate the screen in My Dashboard if I want to update the settings in my account, but whenever I choose "Schedule", choose the particular week, I only see the first entry.

I honestly don't know if this is a Jaws focus issue or something entirely different.  Can you please remind me of the keystrokes for the rotor which a user can look at in the case of a focus issue?  Or, alternatively, do you have other suggestions?

I have tried everything I can think of.

Thank you for any ideas or suggestions,

Greg Daniel

Greg,

The lost focus setting determines whether JAWS announces that focus has been lost. It doesn’t fix the problem.

Mike,

I vaguely remember some unnamed keystroke that one could use if Jaws has lost focus; that keystroke rotored through various settings.

As the result of another reply, I have tried using Firefox, but unless I can modify settings, Firefox was painfully slow in responding.  I haven’t tried Edge yet, and Chrome is the browser which is having difficulties with the website.

I'm not sure what you mean about Rotor keystrokes.  The only rotor navigation I'm aware of is on an iPhone.  Have you tried using the Touch cursor?

Subject: A website question which may involve Jaws focus

4:20 AM 10/23/2020

Greg Daniel

Hello Bonnie,

First thing I would try is to turn off the jaws cursor with insert + z.

Second option I would test is see if the .pdf can be opened in MS Word, make the changes and then save as .pdf.

I think the latest and greatest versions of Word support .pdf out of the box.  If I am wrong, certain someone on this list will correct me.

Thanks, Abraham

Hello group,

I am using fusion 2020. I have a PDF I need to fill out for work. There is a fill and sign button on the right, and that allowed me to put a cursor in the fields on the PDF. I can tell that because I use the magnification part effusion. However, jaws will not allow me to fill anything out. Any idea of how I can go about filling out this form?

Thanks very much,

moderated Any JAWS 2020 Scripts for Thunderbird 78.4?

Kenneth Washington <kwashingtonbox@...>

    Hello,

I'm curious if there are any JAWS scripts available for the latest build of Thunderbird mail client (V78.4?)

I just want a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow) for reading the message window pain, as I'm arrowing down the list of email subjects.

Opening each individual message just to have JAWS read the contents seems somewhat tedious. Being able to read the review message window pain beforehand allows you to know what the contents is before opening the email.

Are there any such scripts available to do this in JAWS20? If not, can someone point me to an JAWS script development resource, so I can learn to create one myself?

Thanks for any help.

could Greg be looking for insert+z which toggles the virtual cursor on and off?

Hi Greg,
I think a less confusing word to use in place of, Rotor, would be,
Toggle.  There are several keystrokes that toggle through settings, but
a focus toggling keystroke just isn't coming to mind at the moment.
Hopefully someone will come through with it.

I’d be curious how well your version works with JAWS, if you wouldn’t mind sharing. It’s been a few years since I used it, and at the time, it was… less than useful.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for your comments, this has now been resolved.

My employer have their own software centre, it's basically an app store of apps that have been tested and approved for employees to use as many who work in corporate environments probably know. I had downloaded PT from our software centre and that is the version I was trying to use, however that is packaged as a virtualised app. I strongly suspect this is why JAWS could not interact with it.

I have now downloaded the official build from Cisco on the same system and it is now working great.
