Dear David:
If that is the case, I think that updating the tutorial would be a great idea.

Hello rick! There is now a Windows command that will maximize any window you are in! Now, just open chrome, and make sure your focus is in the chrome window. Now, simply hold down the windows key and tap the up arrow key, and chrome will be maximized right then and there. That Windows command is there it was added after I wrote that tutorial! I should update that tutorial to be more compatible with the latest versions of Windows 10. I do believe you have to be using Windows 10, however! David Moore

A Direct Question for David Moore
Rick Miller
Dear David:
I am reviewing the tutorial you put together about the Chrome browser a little over a year ago. I am trying to be sure Chrome is maximized. In the tutorial, you said to go to the Chrome shortcut on your desktop, hit Alt+Enter to get to the Properties page, be sure you are on the Shortcut tab, then tab once to see if Chrome is maximized. When I go to the Shortcut tab and hit the tab key, instead of saying whether or not Chrome is maximized it says, “Target,” and then speaks the location of Chrome on my computer. It doesn’t say anything at all about maximization. I am now using Windows 10 and the JAWS Beta release.

Using Google Calendar with JAWS
Rick Miller
Dear Listers:
Recently I listened to a Freedom Scientific archived webinar from last year that talked about using JAWS with Google Calendar. I have decided I want to try to learn to use Google Calendar but every time I go to calendar.google.com JAWS starts speaking to me in a foreign language. When I called Freedom Scientific Technical Support they told me several other people had had the same problem and said it had something to do with Google settings. I went to my Google account, signed in using Facebook, found Settings, and when I checked to see what language was the default language it showed English United States, which is just the language setting I thought I had. Then after discovering that the default language was the correct one I got out of my Google account and opened up Google Chrome, which is my Internet browser, hit the Alt+L keystroke to open up the addressbar, entered calendar.google.com, and hit the Enter key. When the page loaded, here is what was on it:

Hello Guys,
I tried Mike's 4-step procedure and it worked! I'm now able to listen to radio stations using the Chrome browser. I've noted the rest of the replies here, so I can get more good ideas of working with Adblocker. Thanks to all, Paul

Re: How to disable "Add Blocker" in Google Chrom
There is no statement from the original poster that there is any ad blocker, hence my comment. Regardless of which one he may have installed, I'd give the following advice:
1. Ignore the demand it be turned off and try what you're trying to do anyway. Very often these warnings are given solely because there is a desire to serve up ads, not because the function will not work when an ad blocker is on. It's always worth trying. 2. As someone already mentioned, you can go to the Chrome Extensions page, ALT+F,L,E [Menu, More Tools option, Extensions], locate your ad block extension and either toggle it off (most likely) or remove it entirely (not a good idea). 3. If you find you do need to have the Ad Blocker disabled, then I'd take the effort to actually have it turn itself off for the site where you need it to be turned off without being disabled entirely. I no longer use AdBlock Plus, so cannot tell you the exact steps to do this under that extension. I went to uBlock Origin in all browsers that don't have ad-blocking built in quite a while back. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

Have you installed an ad-blocking extension in Chrome? If not, there's nothing to be done, as Chrome (and most browsers, for that matter) do not have an ad-blocker built-in.

Hi again Paul,
Disregard steps 5 and 6. This isn't the correct way to change the AdBlock Plus settings and I can't figure out how to do it as of yet. Take care and stay safe. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go dodgers, Lakers & Rams! Main's Law: For every action there is an equal and opposite government program.

Try the following:
1. Open the menues with, Alt + F, and up arrow to, submenu
More Tools, and press enter.
2. Down arrow to, Extensions, and press enter.
3. Down arrow to find this AdBlocker extension and when you
find it down arrow to the, Details button, and press the
spacebar. Now tab 1 time to, Extension Enabled Toggle button
Pressed.
4. Press the spacebar so that Jaws reports, Extension Enabled Toggle button Not Pressed.
You might have to tab and shift tab back to it and if Jaws doesn't report,
Pressed, it's off.
5. If you tab 2 more times you'll
find a list of 3 Ad Block settings that you use your up and
down arrow keys to change. These options are, On click clickable, On
specific sites clickable and On all sites
6. After making any setting changes
they should take place immediately, but closing and restarting Chrome is good to
do just to make sure.
Take care and stay safe. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go

Re: Outlook issues
kevin meyers
Richard, Thanks for how to turn off the showing for group view in Outlook. For the day view showing up 99% of the time on events in the calendar, I changed view from day to week. Then all appointments in the week will not say day view. When I get to the next week it does say week view. I guess for now I will deal with it one time a week rather than 99% of the time on of the events.
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Richard Turner
As for the calendar issue, I have the same issue and it is a pain.
As for the showing in groups, here is the setting and the hotkey to turn it off. Show in Groups It is a toggle, so each time you do that it switches to the opposite setting.

From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of kevin meyers
Hello,
I’m using the most recent versions of Outlook2016 and Jaws2020. When I’m in the calendar, I use to be able to tab to get from one event to the other. For some reason it now says “day view” and then the appointment. There are day there are no events and Jaws still reads “day view and the time is from the day I’m on to the next day.
Is there a way for this not to happen and just the event is read and days that don’t have anything are skipped?
I added another email address. When I move to the address inbox it says “group by expanded date yesterday”. I have to arrow down twice before any emails appear. The other email address that are setup in Outlook don’t do this. What can I do so the group view doesn’t show up?
Thanks,
Kevin
