moderated I Cannot Join Zoom Meeting from my Outlook Calendar

Rick Miller

Dear Listers:

I am trying to join a Zoom meeting from my Outlook calendar.  After I schedule the meeting and paste it to my Outlook calendar, the hyperlink is there in the calendar appointment but when I try to activate the link using the Insert+F7 keystroke it is saying that no link is there and that I should press Insert+f5.  When I do this the hyperlink appears.  I tab to OK and hit the Enter key but that still does not solve the problem.  The version of Outlook I am using is Outlook 2010 but I do have a Zoom plug-in installed and so I am able to schedule a Zoom meeting from Outlook.  I am trying to insert on my Outlook calendar a weekly Zoom class at church.  I got the hyperlink to join the Zoom meeting from someone at church.  I scheduled the meeting and sent it to my own e-mail address, and on the invitation message whenever I hit the Enter key on the hyperlink to join I can join with no trouble, but after I paste it to my Outlook calendar and then try to join from the Appointment tab on the calendar the hyperlink doesn’t work.  Do any of you out there know how I can get the hyperlink on the calendar to working?

I hope it’s just a one-time thing, but based on mine, I wouldn’t be surprised if it continues. Clicking on that link works, but it doesn’t solve the issue.

Thanks Madison,

I went to the link in the Groups.io message and clicked on the link to unblock the account and that worked apparently, or I would not have gotten my test message or your reply.

But, if this persists, I will contact my ISP.

Later,

Your ISP is likely viewing certain messages as spam so they’re being blocked. In the bounce message there’s a link that you can click on to view the error messages that groups..io receives, send your ISP a list of the email address (s) that are in the error messages, and ask your ISP to check and see if groups.io is on any internet black lists, if it is then ask them to remove it from such lists, hopefully they’re willing to look into it for you!!! Good luck, hope you can get the problem fixed once and for all!!

Mike,

Already answered, on the TechTalk Group, here:
https://techtalk.groups.io/g/main/message/93487
<https://techtalk.groups.io/g/main/message/93487>

What follows is not aimed personally, but I have noticed
lately that there has been a huge uptick of crossposting from multiple
members in a number of groups, where they will copy and paste the same
question and post it in multiple groups within seconds of each other.
This is generally considered rude, particularly when there is a large
overlap between the participants in these groups (and that's true of
many of the blind-technology related groups).

Standard netiquette is to post in one, and only one,
group initially and wait some reasonable amount of time to see if the
question is answered.  Then, if and only if an answer was not
forthcoming, move on to another group to ask.  There are groups where
crossposting the first time will result in a suspension of posting
privileges for some period of time and a second will get you banned.

Hi All,

Running MS EDGE with the most current version of Windows 10 Pro and latest Jaws.

When I open Edge and then want to close it I have to press, Alt + F4, several times to close Edge completely

It seems like any little thing I do opens a new screen, tab or window.

How or what do I need to change so I have only my Homepage open when I open Edge?

And, when I press enter or shift + enter on a link, what setting needs to be changed so only 1 tab, screen or window opens?

I know how to go back and close screens, but like I mentioned, any little thing seems to open a new screen, tab or window.

Take care and stay safe.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers, Lakers & Rams!

Hello,
You could create an announce only list on one of the mailing list
providers groups.io, google groups etcetera and have people subscribe
to it. There are also means of making the list a private list with
some of these providers.
Then work with the mail client such as Outlook or other client to
schedule the email delivery. This would go out as long as you had the
client opened.
If this is not a workable solution there are probably email services
that will allow for scheduling an email for later sending.
One that comes to mind is later.io

This would be emails being sent out, not a discussion list.

It needs to be able to accommodate inclusion of images and YouTube links.

I send a daily email in this manner.

I need to be able to set the delivery time.

Is mailchimp screen reader friendly? Any guidance appreciated, for this or

Good evening Sharon,

To my knowledge MailChimp is not accessible. However, I’ve created a test mailing list on one of my domains and everything is settable from the CPanel. If that is something you would like to explore further, let me know and I’ll spin you up a sandbox to play in.

Where is this "not taking phone calls" message coming up?  When I dialed 800-936-5900 just now I get the standard greeting.

Since I have nothing I need to take up with Microsoft related to accessibility I wasn't about to start stepping through menus, so I realize this could occur further in to the process.

But no one should be surprised at limited availability of any given resource during this time.  Sometimes multiple calls until you luck out and someone's answering is happening all over the place these days.  And that's not a defense of Microsoft, just an observation regarding life in the time of Covid-19 and limited staffing.

Right now you may have troubles getting through to Microsoft’s disability answer desk. The last couple of days I’ve called them about an issue and once you get through their automated system and tell it that you want either Office or Windows, it says that they are unavailable to provide support at this time and it tells you to go to their website. This happened multiple times when I called in the last few days.

Agreed.  Making someone navigate a menu, any menu, when the terminus is, "We're not accepting calls, and won't be for the foreseeable future," is ridiculous, and bad customer service and public relations.

Hi
Unfortunately eLearning developers and accessibility don't always go hand in hand at the moment. I assume the online courses are Scorm compliant as most HR learning systems would require this for ensuring course completion and tracking etc. We just need to continue to encourage eLearning developers to take into account the needs of people with disability when crating the learning items. That has been my experience. Not sure if pausing the naration and using PictureSmart would help at all - I haven't tried that approach. Sorry I can't   provide any other practical solutions.
