I think it still can – speech on demand and no speech can be set to be the “off” state of the toggle. There is a setting for it in settings centre. I use no-speech a lot since I mostly use a braille display.

open the game then press insert plus space then s to toggle speech to on demand. this will silence Jaws during the game. they have changed this since I used it last and I think it will talk if you do a jaws specific key combo. In the past it just silenced Jaws totally

OK, Just open the start menu and go to the programs and press
shifgt plus F10 and then arrow to send to then arrow to send to
desktop. This will place a shortcut on the desktop without messing
around in files. If as sometimes happens in wildows 10 you dont
get the option to send to then you will have to click open
location then at that point copy and paste the shortcut to the
desktop.

Sorry forgot to say I have never had to use a PC to setup an

Yes, 2 of the most useful tools are mostly useless for us... I really dont understand why it is so hard to make Favorites and History easy to use. first letter navigation and a file tree is all it would take. Not multiple list boxes that dont work unless you do 2 or 3 work arounds and jumping from box to box is stupid.

I had know problem setting mine up. The speaker will give you a network setting from Amazon. You need to open that connection, then change it there to your network name. It will be numbers, but can’t remember the numbers off hand. This must be done from the computer.

Re: Edge browser and favorites

Klaus: Sorry, but I may be responding way too late for this to be of use to you, but here goes:
I understand where you’re coming from, and I have my own method for maintaining my favorites as a navigable folder structure on my desktop—‘cause that’s precisely where I want them and nowhere else if I can help it:
Say I find something with Chrome, and I want it in my trusty old favorites structure. I hit alt-d to go to the address bar. Control-c to copy. Now, I fire up my little old, out-of-date Internet Explorer. Most of the times, it will still open. I hit control-o to open. Paste in my URL; hit enter. Again, more often than not, The website opens. I don’t care if it opens sluggishly, as long as it opens. Now, I use the same old IE command to add to favorites. There you go. Yes, it’s cumbersome, but I just can’t get to feeling at home in that Chrome favorites management deal. My default browser is, for the time being, Google Chrome, and that’s how the URL will open. It’s just that I have my comfortable structure with logically organized links in folders, or in second-level subfolders under first-level parent folders. It’s part of my organizational file system, and it’s so established that I just want to keep it that way, no matter how crazy it may seem.
Cheers,
Gudrun

Hello Brian,
tried the approach via the favorites manager - still quite cumbersome. It seems to me that longterm maintaining the IE favorites file on the desktop is much more efficient: I will still save the favorite in the Edge Browser with Control + d Additionally however - and this is certainly more work 1. Go with control + l and copy the web address of the page in Edce 2. Open the IE favorites on the desktop 3. create new shortcut with the application menue. After this I have the convienience of handling all subsequent accesses with keyboard searches etc from the desktop file. Klaus

Tom, Find the location of the actual programme on your computer (not the shortcut), and see if that runs Will probably be installed in c:\program files or c:\program files (x86) If you examine the file properties of the short-cut (alt-enter on the shortcut) it will tell you where the programme location and executable filename is. If you use the “run” command you should just be able to type in that name and if the programme doesn’t run still – you know the problem isn’t with the shortcut.

You are creating a shortcut to a shortcut.
Follow your steps through number 3.
Copy the shortcut, CTRL-C.
Focus on the Desktop, WINDOWS KEY-D.
Paste the shortcut, CTRL-V.
That should fix your issue.

Problem with Outlook 2016 calendar
kevin meyers
Hello, I use the most recent versions of windows10 and Jaws2020. I’m using outlook 2016. For about a week somelthing happen to my calendar. I use to be able to tab from one appointment to the next. Now when I tab jaws says day view and a bunch of other text. Sometimes it will read the appointment at the end of the line. Some appointments on the calendar start with the text related to the appointment. I talked with Microsoft Accessibility and got no where. Any thoughts of what might be creating the problem? I should say I did a easy repair and that didn’t help. Now what? Kevin

I'm not familiar with Google Docs. But maybe try ctrl-s inside the PDF itself to save it locally. You could also try context menu options on a relevant link, there should be a save link option in your browser.

I know that the pdf can be opened in Google docs but I would prefer to be able to download the pdf since there is mathematical content I need to email out and I want it displayed correctly. Re: Jaws and Windows10 info pages

For what it is worth, Jaws 2020 August release for me is mostly useless in those windows. However, I just tried it with the Jaws 2021 beta and everything reads fine. With Jaws 2020 if you use the Touch cursor things read, but how to activate something is a mystery to me. I usually turn off Jaws and launch Narrator when I am in Windows settings since it reads fine.

Jaws and Windows10 info pages
Phil Cox
Hello All
I have had to replace my C-drive and therefore had to reinstall Jaws. I think I used to be able to read Windows 10 info such as the Action Center and there was a edit box displayed when you went to settings using the Windows-key + I command with Jaws 2020. But I can only read them with Jaws cursor now and the left and right mouse click do not always work. Is everybody else reading these pages OK?
If so, does anybody know what Jaws setting I need to change to allow reading of these pages again? TIA
Phil
