I'm surprised no one has mentioned the five new Japanese voices that have always been part of the 3.0 SAPI version. There are enough voices to make male and female voice profiles for PC and JAWs Cursors, Keyboard and Tutor&Message.
Does that mean we'll get the Farsi voice, Stephanie UK English and Damian U.S. English by the 2021 release?

Thanks for the point about Excel. That is a significant bug out of the way.

And, thanks for a good laugh about being older than 25 and still working pretty well. Great line!

Two notes on the beta:

1. Eudora works well with it! FS says they nno longer support Eudora, and I have to install the old scripts to make it work. But with 2020, the graphics for items like 'read" and "unread" absolutely did not work. With 2021, I had to build the .JGF file, but it works! I realize that using a 25-year-old email program is pretty retro, but I am delighted that it still works! I'm older than 25, and I still work pretty well.

2. In Excel, When typing data into a cell and then tabbing, neither JAWS nor NVDA would read the first character typed. So if you entered 4321, JAWS would say 321. With 2021, JAWS speaks all four characters.

First off do you want a mechanical or standard keyboard? I have both. The mechanical one I have is  a little light on the touch. I'd like it to be stiffer my standard Logitech keyboard isNice but Nice bud I would use The mechanical one more if the keys were a little stiffer.
G skill mechanical keyboards are nice just make sure you get the stiffer keys. And of course logitech K-series are excellent. Both brands of keyboards have ones that do both Bluetooth and wireless with a little dongle.

With your Zoom client open, Tab to the tab list and go to the Home tab.  Tab to the Share Options button dropdown and hit Space.  Down arrow to the Share Computer Sound check box and hit Space to check it.  Now, what ever you hear from your computer will also be recorded and heard by your meeting participants.  You may want to do a test to check the levels, as JAWS may be too loud.  HTH

Tim,

I don't use the Amazon Echo series devices, but a dear friend of mine does, and she relies upon them.  Amazon Alexa is pretty intuitive, but I would do a web search on "Alexa commands,"  "What can I ask Alexa?," and related searches.  You will find myriad tutorials related to Alexa, and if you add "accessibility" to the search terms there are those targeted at those who are blind or visually-impaired.

Setup is done through the Amazon Alexa app available for Android or iOS or through your Amazon account, but I cannot remember the step-by-step instructions for either method.

Then try another external keyboard that's known to be good, and you'll have your answer.   My guess is that you're experiencing keyboard failure which, while it takes a lot longer to occur with conventional keyboards than laptop built-in keyboards, can and does occur.

Kevin,

That’s probably a good plan.  I have Outlook set not to download images, as a safety precaution. I need to figure out how to download them when I want them.  If I forward a message to my husband, even if Outlook asks me if I want to download external content before sending the message and I say “yes”, my husband often tells me the images aren’t there.  This is a pain, as I’m usually forwarding him a messages so that he can read the images for me and help me with a complicated email or website.

Surprisingly, the QR code in the Amazon message was there, even though Outlook is set to not download images. It must be coded in some other way.

Kevin,

Did you end up resolving the Amazon return issue?  I just did an Amazon return, but I selected the option to return the item to Kohl’s.  Amazon sent me an email with the QR code in it.  The QR code is right below the words “Return Code”, but JAWS did not acknowledge it in any way. I tried moving by graphic with G, but that didn’t work. Arrowing through the lines of the email doesn’t pick it up, but I have enough vision to see it.

When I read the same email on my iPhone. Voiceover does not pick up the image if I flick through the lines, but if I run my finger down the email, I heard Voiceover say “Image” just below the “Return Code” and that is the QR code.   The return person at Kohl’s just needed to enlarge the QR code ,but I did not need to do anything with the QR code myself.

Hello, I’m using windows10, Outlook 2016 and the most recent version of Jaws2020. When an item is returned to Amazon and email is sent with a QR code. Jaws doesn’t recognize the code. In the past I would print out the email and or forward it to my IPhone. This recent return the code doesn’t show up when I print it. Also it doesn’t appear in the email I forwarded to my IPhone. Is there something in Outlook that could be causing the code to disappear? I should say that when I look at the email on my IPhone, it says image removed by sender. I didn’t remove anything. Any thoughts? Cheers, Kevin
