Hey Allen, That did fix it. Sounds backwards to what I was trying to do, but it works now. Thanks

Re: looking for the keystrokes to insert a heading on a website using JAWS 2020
I'm confused because it is the website editor (whether something online or standalone) that would determine what the keystroke is to take any specific action in that software.

looking for the keystrokes to insert a heading on a website using JAWS 2020
Dacia Cole
Hi,
I am having to edit a website I'm one of the administrators on and I am fairly new to this. I am wanting to create headings for various parts of the website. I know I have to type what I want the heading to say first then how do I go about making it a heading using the keyboard? What keystrokes do I use to make this happen? I'm using a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1 and JAWS 2020. Does it matter which browser I'm using to edit the website? Are the keystrokes the same no matter which browser I use? thanks, Dacia

Re: how to stop JAWS from speaking indentations
Richard Turner <richardturner42@...>
Try Insert+6 on the number row. Control+shift+d for default all applications, then search for indentation.

I made some progress. CAPS + V to bring up quick settings. Then search for indentation. There is a setting for it to ignore indentation. However, it has to be configured for each application, it seems. I'm not sure why.

how to stop JAWS from speaking indentations
Mark
I've been tweaking my Speech and Sound Schemes and I'm not sure if I messed something up. It now seems to describe if it is left, right, centred, etc. justified. I don't ever remember this being spoken before. I did change the Voice Aliases associated with the indentation rules in my new scheme, but even when I try an pre-configured scheme, I'm still hearing the indentation description. Any ideas about how I can turn that bit of description off?

Re: Accessing jaws menu in laptop layout
David Kingsbury
Hi Daniel,
There are a few commands for which the Insert and Caps Lock keys are not substitutable in laptop mode. Insert J to get to the JAWS menus is one of them, so you must hit Insert J, not Caps Lock J. Other keystrokes where you must use the Insert key are Insert W to get Windows keystroke help and Insert H to get JAWS keystroke help.

Hello,

Are you running the Public Beta of JAWS 2021? Or, JAWS 2020? And/or, did you purchase the Pro Scripts from Brian Hartgen? My guess is that that is the Zoom Scripts. I can not fully answer that question as I'm using the Pro Scripts from Brian Hartgen and I get a different result. Answer my questions and maybe someone else will answer. As I understand it, Brian Hartgen provided Freedom Scientific/Vispero in the 2019 with the free scripts for Zoom. If you are running an earlier version of JAWS before 2019, you can get those free scripts from Hartgen.org. Milton

Hi Daniel,

This is one I learned from this list just a couple of days ago. The keystroke is Control + shift + caps lock to get to the menus from the JAWS laptop layout. I also have a JAWS shortcut on my desktop, and if you just press enter on that you get into the menus. I also put JAWS in the tray, so I know this works. I hope this helps. Take care and stay safe! When I use the keyboard shortcut of jaws key (capslock in this case)+j, the only thing that's announced is blank. Interestingly, when I plug in a keyboard that has an insert key and use that instead of capslock it works perfectly. Does anyone know if the key to access the jaws menu from system tray is different in laptop layout? Jaws help doesn't seem to have the answer. Thanks, Daniel

Try moving down column A. Then using insert up arrow to read each line. Some of the smaller spreadsheets make it easier to understand that way.
