Van Lant, Robin

Chris was close. He wrote backspace, but he should have written back-slash.  I just did it for the first time and got it working with both a column of numbers and with a column of two-letter state abbreviations.

to summarize,

1, hit control shift down arrow.; this selects all the contents of the column from where you are to the next blank cell in the column.

2. Now hit Control Shift backslash   Excel move focus to the next different value.  Note that the cells below this are still selected.

Really cool trick, Chris.  Thank you for sharing  I’m sure I will find this valuable.

I have the keystroke that you are needing.

Ok, hold down the control and shift. Do not let go of theese 2 keys. Now while holding down these keys, hit down arrow, do not hold down the down arrow, just press it. wait a second, then hit the backspace key. The backspace key is normally above the enter key.

Each time you press the backspace key, it will jump to the next different value in the column.

I have tested this and it does work.

If you remember what that sell value was, after you sort it, could you then do a find with control F and type in that value? Or copy that sells value to your clipboard and then do your control F and paste the amount in the find field.

Not sure why.

As a test, I took a blank worksheefft, put the same number in about 5 cells down, put a different number in the next 5 cells, and so on for about 20 or 30 cells.
I did not change any of the cell formats or anything.

Now you do have to be in your list of numbers.
But it worked for me multiple times.

I even made a new list with only 2 of each number to see if that made a difference, and it still worked.

I am running Excel 2016.

I see what you’re trying to do. I don’t know of a command that will get you to the next value, but I wonder if there is something with filtering that will tell you the next number or value. Then doing a search for that or filtering to the next value.

I will let you know if anything else comes to mind.

Sorry, but still trying to figure out exactly what you are asking to do in Excel.

If you have one or multiple rows that you are switching between, then you could look into using Monitor cells. You can designate up to 10 cells as monitor cells. After designating a cell as a monitor cell, you then can have Jaws say what is in that cell no matter where you are on the worksheet, and you can also choose to move to one or multiple monitor cells if you want. All Jaws keystrokes dealing with monitor cells can be accessed by pressing Jaws key + the letter H.

If you are wanting to just return to the previous cell that you were at, there is not a particular keystroke for this. You can use f5 or control + G to bring up the Go to dialog box. You can then type in the cell you want to move to, or tab once for a list of prior cells to move to.

Hopefully this was of some help.

Chris

While composing E mail messages in Windows Live Mail Jaws will not back space or delete and the only way I have found to cure this is to unload Jaws and restart it.  Using the latest version of Jaws and the latest version of WLM the one with the ribbon menus. This doesn’t happen all the time but often enough to be irritating. It is not happening on this particular message.  Tom

Dr. James Dobson told this true story about a missionary in the jungle. One day the missionary entered his hut, and a gigantic snake, one of those that can swallow a whole pig, was inside. He went out to his truck and got his revolver. He only had one shell. He went in and carefully aimed at the head of that monstrous snake and pulled the trigger. The snake was mortally wounded, but he didn???t die right away. He began to writhe and thrash around, his tail going this way and that! He literally tore up everything in that hut as he was dying.

Jesus at Calvary put a bullet right in Satan???s head. And what we???re seeing today in our society,  are the death throes of one who has been mortally wounded by the cross of Jesus Christ.   satan knows his time is short and he is doing all he can to take millions to hell.  It's time for Christians to 'wake up' and start sharing the glorious Gospel of Christ!  (1 John 5:11-13)

If they are coming via the chat window, you would have to write that information down as quickly as possible, I don't know of any other way to get the link.

Hello Milton,
Thank you for your reply. To clarify, these links are not coming in an email or as a Zoom invitation on a calendar, these links are being provided during the Zoom meeting when I am already on Zoom.

Hello,

If you are trying to access a Zoom meeting via an e-mail invitation,
you want to select/hit enter on a link that would read as "Join A Zoom Meeting"
or you see a web address that begins with "https".

Both instances, JAWS would say "link".

You can also copy the 9 to 10 digits number and paste it into the Zoom
application by opening Zoom, click Join a Meeting, and in the edit
field paste that room ID.

Paul,

Thank you for this tip. I downloaded the file and experimented.

I noted in one case where I thought I’d delete a program, it offered, instead, to update it. No removal option. I went through the update process and decided not to remove for now. In another instance, it did remove an unwanted program.

Query: the Geek.exe file doesn’t create a recognized program or a desktop icon, or did I miss a step?

Hi,

I hope this isn’t straying off topic, but Brian recommended uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller. I agree with him , whenever I uninstall anything from my PC I always use a third party uninstaller to ensure it removes all traces of the program as the windows installer often leaves behind  a lot of unneeded files. I personally use Geek uninstaller (which is free). I’ve used Revo Uninstaller in the past, and although it was accessible I found it wasn’t the easiest to navigate with a screen reader, which is why I use geek, it works well with jaws and is really simple to use, when it opens you are in an edit field where you can type the name of the program you want to uninstall or press escape for a full list of programs currently installed on your machine. I do have to confess though I haven’t used Revo Uninstaller for a long time, so it’s possible they might have improved accessibility since I last used it.

I've never had this happen with the Google Chrome browser, nor seen it reported elsewhere.   If you've done a complete uninstall and reinstall, and that has not fixed the issue, the only thing I could recommend is using something like Revo Uninstaller, after having done the regular uninstall for Chrome, then trying to install again.

These days, there are so many Chromium-based browsers that if you like Chrome you can transition to virtually any of them without even noticing you have.  New Edge and Brave are both good options, and there are others.
