Using Jaws (latest version) E-trade's site is pretty accessible.?? e-trade's customer service stinks however!?? Your hold time on the phone is excessive.?? I use Jaws and from time to time want to get stock quotes.?? The phone system bounces between voice commands and touch tone.?? You have to guess.?? Stock quotes are also delayed.?? I e-mailled them 6 times about this issue alone and wrote print letters to them 3 times....no response and they never fixed the problem.?? E-trade was sued by the blind years ago for failing to make things accessible to the blind, but apparently they don't care.?? This is just part of the reason why I moved my account to Fidelity....much, much much better!!!

I endorse George???s recommendation of Schwab. Some years ago, they did considerable work on accessibility with me and another JAWS user, and they remain responsive.

Another JAWS user is an advocate of Fidelity. As a broker himself, he has some influence over Fidelity???s practices.

You may know that e-Trade is in the process of being purchased by Morgan Stanley. I???m not sure how much priority accessibility will receive during a pending acquisition.

I???ve had accessibility issues with Vanguard in the past, but I haven???t been on that website for a long time.

Hello,

If you are trying to access a Zoom meeting via an e-mail invitation,
you want to select/hit enter on a link that would read as "Join A Zoom Meeting"
or you see a web address that begins with "https".

Both instances, JAWS would say "link".

You can also copy the 9 to 10 digits number and paste it into the Zoom
application by opening Zoom, click Join a Meeting, and in the edit
field paste that room ID.

Lol…yeah, meanwhile it seems like most NVDA users don’t have these problems..I wonder why that is? Coincidence? Like I said though, Firefox 8 seems stable at the moment on my desktop here, which at least is running JAWS still half the time or more (it’s an older version, too…)

I spoke with someone at Freedom Scientific (or whatever they call it now) and she said they are well aware of Firefox crashing. She didn’t go into details but I gathered they don’t think it is a JAWS problem but rather something with Firefox. But again, she didn’t say that in so many words.

I hope this isn’t straying off topic, but Brian recommended uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller. I agree with him , whenever I uninstall anything from my PC I always use a third party uninstaller to ensure it removes all traces of the program as the windows installer often leaves behind  a lot of unneeded files. I personally use Geek uninstaller (which is free). I’ve used Revo Uninstaller in the past, and although it was accessible I found it wasn’t the easiest to navigate with a screen reader, which is why I use geek, it works well with jaws and is really simple to use, when it opens you are in an edit field where you can type the name of the program you want to uninstall or press escape for a full list of programs currently installed on your machine. I do have to confess though I haven’t used Revo Uninstaller for a long time, so it’s possible they might have improved accessibility since I last used it.
