I agree, it is silly to offer a trial without all functions being available.

Hi Richard,
Thanks so much for the info.
I tried this, and jaws tells me that picture smart is not available in trial versions. I have jaws 2020, latest version. There does not seem to be any mention on freedom scientific’s web site about why this would not be available. Surely, the point of a trial, is to try out all the functions!!!
Any ideas?

Acquire and describe an image from a Scanner or Freedom Scientific Camera such as PEARL, using the letter A. From Windows Explorer, you can describe any image file using the letter F. From the computer screen or application, you can describe a Control with the letter C. An image on the clipboard can be described using the letter B. An image can be described by saving it to the "PictureSmart" directory in your User's "Pictures" folder

Hi,
This goes back to something i posted here before. I have a buffalo link station ls440 nas device. Whenever you need to shut it down, you are asked for a 4 digit number. This is displayed on the screen as four images. However, the alt attribute for each of these numbers is “number_1” “number_2” etc. This alt attribute is assigned when the confirmation number is asked for. So, if you try to shut it down you could get a number like 1234. The next time it could be 4321. However, the alt attribute always remains at “number_1” “number_2” etc. Therefore, you don’t know what number is actually displayed. Tried custom label, graphics labeller, hight and width of graphics, show hide tagged etc. Nothing works. However, by examining the element in my browser, i have determined, that the actual image file is the actual number. e.g. if the first number being displayed on screen is the number 6: the img tag will be: <img alt=”number_1” src=”num6.jpg”> So, if i could force jaws to read the actual name of the file, it would indicate to me what the four numbers actually are. I have tried every setting i can find both in the default application settings and the browser specific settings in relation to graphics. Nothing works!! This is the same for jaws 2018 and 2020. Jaws has a scripting language. Has anyone ever used this to force something? I have programming experience, but i haven’t had the need to script anything for jaws yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. What i cannot understand, is why jaws wont assign a custom label to it. Afterall, its just an image tag!!

List Rules - Sat, 08/01/2020
#cal-notice
main@jfw.groups.io Calendar <noreply@...>
List Rules When: Description: http://groups.io/g/jfw/wiki/List-Policies
**List Policies** 1: Keep it clean. We're a family list, and there are people here who probably don't want to hear everything *exactly* that's running through your head. If you wouldn't see it on TV, it doesn't belong in a post to the list. If you're not sure, email the administration before you post it to the list. Otherwise, you stand to see your posts moderated. 2: Stay on topic. We're a JFW-oriented list. That said, anything related to JFW, its functionality with programs etc is acceptable. If it doesn't have to do with JFW, it doesn't belong on the list. This includes, but isn't limited to, talk of other screen readers such as Window Eyes. 3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject. 4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind. 5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration. 6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently. As always, if there are problems or questions with regards these policies, don't hesitate to send them off-list to jfw+owner@groups.io James,

In Edge and I think Chrome with most if not all executable files you are being blocked from completing a download unless you tab around to the Keep button in the download bar alongside the warning that this type of file can harm your computer. It used to be enough that you hit the keep button and then the keep anyway button after the further warning message. Now annoyingly on my version of Edge anyway you now have to complete 3 steps. First of all hit the keep button. Then when the next message warning comes up hit the show more info button and finally hit the keep anyway button after yet another warning screen. . You may have to keep tabbing around to find these buttons. I suspect that Microsoft are doing this because they want to channel users to their Store app in the same way Apple does. I am going to go off to see if I can disable this level of nagging obstruction, making you hit a keep button after a warning is fair enough but 3 confirmations now is over the top. David G.

Hi All, I wished to download the latest version of Jaws2020 this morning using Chrome. It didn’t finish the download, and I saw a file starting with the word unconfirmed in my downloads folder. Eventually, I tried the same download with Microsoft Edge and was able to complete the download as expected. So I uninstalled and re-installed Chrome. I tried the download again using Chrome and could not complete the download. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Best Regards,

Yes, I had to do that the other night to look at a site I was interested in. Even after you download the cookie, in Chrome, you have to at least whitelist their site because the security settings won't otherwise allow it to work. I do get their point that audio captchas still leave people out that can't hear or see, but having to save an email message around to get one of these whenever you encounter it is madness anyways.

https://www.cloudwards.net/what-is-cloudflare/ Cloudflare was created in 2009 by former members of Project Honey Pot, a web-based, open source architecture that allows websites to collect information from IP addresses harvesting email addresses. Project Honey Pot was intended as a way to fight spam email and fraud. In 2010, Project Honey Pot gave way to Cloudflare, and it was officially announced at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference that year. Cloudflare was born out of the desire to not only track the malicious behavior of cybercrime — as is the case with the Project Honey Pot network — but to stop or prevent it altogether. Its vision was to secure websites against threats, but to do so without adding undo latency. As such, it began experimenting with ways to lower latency in its system by adding advanced caching processes and removing bad traffic, such as bots, from customers’ websites. You can learn more about the dangers of bots in our what is a botnet guide. That gave way to Cloudflare’s vision of building a better internet. It started to offer CDN services, its proprietary Railgun network optimizer and more products aimed at security, reducing page loading times and enhancing user experience.

Support at checkpeople.com didn’t seem to know about hCaptcha.

Example if 2 of the participants are making fun of the host via text messages, cannot he or she see it. Not that I’d do it. However, a person who frequently hosts zoom meetings told me that the host can see or in this case, hear, any texts that are being sent.
