Re: Downloading Jaws
Mike B
Hi Les,
You could check your Security settings, but no matter which
setting I used to download the Jaws file I didn't get any of my downloads
blocked. When you get a blocked download I believe that if you tab you'll
find a More actions option that can be opened and I believe you'll have an
option that you can press enter on to download anyways if for any download that
Chrome is identifying as possibly being bad. Below are steps to check your
download and other security settings.
Open Chrome and press, Alt + F, to open the menu and up arrow
to Settings and press enter.
Down arrow to, Privacy and Security, press enter.
Tab to, Security link, press enter.
Tab to a group of 3 radio buttons, it's about 3 tabs after
pressing enter on, Security link. These 3 radio buttons are, 1. Enhanced,
2. Standard and 3. No protection.
As you up / down arrow on these 3 radio button Jaws will read you a description of each of them. These are your protection settings for downloads and much more. If you change a setting it takes place immediately, but
personally I would close and restart Chrome to make sure.
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go
dodgers!

Subject: Downloading Jaws Hi All, I wished to download the latest version of Jaws2020 this morning using Chrome. It didn’t finish the download, and I saw a file starting with the word unconfirmed in my downloads folder. Eventually, I tried the same download with Microsoft Edge and was able to complete the download as expected. So I uninstalled and re-installed Chrome. I tried the download again using Chrome and could not complete the download. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Best Regards,

I also think iOS is just more intuitive and even after all these years when both platforms have matured, iOS is in my view more polished and easier to use. There is a load of material about iOS and iPhones out there, www.Applevis.com is just one example, Apple has an accessibility support line as well as email address and if you call their support and need help they can even connect to your phone and see what you are doing. There are email lists for both Android and iOS, the Viphone list is one I have been on for the last 10 years or so since I started using an iPhone. If you really want to use a keyboard you can actually get Apple's camera connection cable and use it to connect a USB keyboard, but in my opinion a Bluetooth keyboard makes much more sense with a mobile device and there are lots of great options out there from Logitech as well as others. As for price any high-end Android phone nowadays costs just as much as the high-end iPhones, yes, you can probably pick up a cheap Android phone for $200 or so, but then again the new iPhone SE 2 which was recently released also is not that expensive and from all I heard on the Viphone list as well as in general it's fantastic phone. I guess it all depends on what you plan to do with the phone, for me being able to transfer information from my PC to the phone by copying and pasting is not very important, I have an Apple Music subscription so I never store mucis on the device any more, I do just about all my audio book listening on Audible and the odd book I have in MP3 I can easily transfer to Voice Dream Reader via Dropbox. I consider to be a pretty profficient user of my iPhone, but I absolutely don't believe in being able to replace a computer with my iPhone, I don't compose long texts on my phone, if I have to type a longer email or want to have an on-going text chat on Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or other app I do use my Bluetooth keyboard. I have a Logitech K780 which I use via its USB dongle as my primary keyboard for my laptop and if I want to use it wih my iPhone all I have to do is press FN+F2 and it switches over, when I'm done I press F1 and I'm back on my PC.
Best regards, Sieghard

I have both, and in terms of ease of use with regard to the gestures, it is my opinion that the iPhone is much easier to operate. On the other hand, with Android, I can have Eloquence for the voice, and I can simply copy and paste to and from my computer to the Android phone. With Android, you can get a USB adapter and plug in a desktop keyboard or anything USB, you can't do that with IOS. hi folks,
i know that this is not the forum for this question, but maybe one of you good people might have some ideas as to where i should go. currently, i have an old nokia phone about 300 years of age. i have decided to take the great leap into the unknown and start using a modern tap screen phone. i have a samsung android phone with talkback on it, but it is proving to be somewhat of a trouble. i would say, that it is just because i am new to it, but web sites offering training tips seem to be non existent. also, the braille keyboard seems to be a bit of a pain. i also dont want to have to attach a keyboard to it, as this defeats the purpose of having a phone you can carry around with you. on the other hand, i have heard, that apple's voice over is much better. again, training seems to be the problem. i should be able to get my hands on an ifone. any thoughts? anyone prefer one over the other? cheers, pat

Hello everyone,
I have a client who wishes to use some dictation software with JAWS. We have tried the new Dictate add-in with Word and JAWS. It works reasonably well, but seems to lack some of the “bells and whistles” like literal numbers or word and correction. But for get thoughts on a page and going back and “cleaning up, it is a good choice.
I get very mixed reviews on Dragon Naturally speaking and JAWS. I read everything from it works well to they don’t play nice together and it is difficult to set up.
Wondering about experiences anyone may have had trying to use Dragon with JAWS. My person is running JAWS 2020, and Office 365 on a Windows 10 computer. If it does work what do we have to do to make it so? Also a question of a headset mic vs tabletop. My client doesn’t care for headsets, but if a must have, a recommendation for a reasonably priced one.
Thanks

The best combination, allowing for power and accuracy, is Dragon 15.3, JAWS and J-Dictate from Hartgen Consultancy. Without J-Dictate, you don’t have good access to the correction procedures and to the echoing of dictating text.

If you have your inbox sorted so that that newest is on top, you can move to the first message by a given person, Then, hit the application key while you are still in the inbox. Hit F to jump to the “Find related” menu option. A submenu will open and the first option, on which you’ll already have focus, is called messages in this conversation. It will display all the related messages with the same subject line and you can delete the older ones and/or read just the top message you need. You may need to use F6 or Control Tab to bring focus to the list of messages.

I'm happy to give any tips. - James On 7/30/20, John Covici <covici@ccs.covici.com> wrote: You might want to update to Jaws 2020, but zoom is quite accessible.

If anyone has a set of instructions or tips for inviting people to a Zoom meeting, hosting a Zoom meeting, etc., please post to the list. I have been somewhat successful with these processes, based on what I've been able to figure out so far with a bit of trial and error, but a nice clear set of instructions would help. I'm sure that I, and others, would benefit from this. Thanks! Tom Behler

It depends on what you want to do, but general meeting access with Zoom is actually quite easy. If you are sent a meeting link, it's easy to join a meeting and participate. You first have to download and install the Zoom app. A list of most-used Zoom key strokes can be obtained via Alt H--the help menu. I hope this helps at least a little. Tom Behler

Hello, I am a jaws18 user using the latest 2004 release of Win10. I have never used zoom, so i am wondering how easy is it to use zoom with jaws to join and be part of scheduled meetings? Any help with this would be so very much appreciated. Much, much thanks in advance for any possible help with this. Kindest regards, Hank From: Joseph Hudson Sent: Wednesday, July 29, 2020 5:59 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: How long is a Zoom meeting available? Hello, after using a personal meeting ID they're always using the same link. If you schedule them under separate meeting nights which the system creates for you then no. And those links are available as long as you want them for. If you're using a meeting ID that you let the system create for you. And if you want them to convene with the same link, just scheduled a meeting for three hours. And I'm for sure you'll be good to go. joseph hudson Email FaceTime and iMessage jhud7789@twc.com Office phone/what's up messenger 254-300-7667 Emergency sell 254-813-2461 https://www.facebook.com/joseph.hudson.9404 https://twitter.com/josephhudson89 On Jul 29, 2020, at 3:54 PM, Ann Byrne <annakb@sbcglobal.net> wrote:
