It is enabled by default. There is a way to find out, which will involve opening a list of Windows services and seeing if Windows Update service is active. But for everyday consumers, don't worry about automatic updates. Cheers, Joseph

Re: Any thoughts on getting latest version of Firefox (78.0.1) to work better with older JFW (2018)?
According to Eric Damery and Glen Gordon in today's NFB meeting on JAWS, Mozilla is aware of this issue which was caused inadvertently by them in the Firefox 78.x update and it should be fixed when version 79 is released on the 28th of this month.

I'm thinking 78.0.2 is crashing less than 78.0.1 but still definitely not good! I'm using Chrome a lot more now, or else using Firefox with NVDA. I tried Jaws 2019 and 2020 and they both crash often with latest Firefox. On 7/12/2020 8:42 AM, Richard Turner wrote:

Today, I plugged in my camera for a Zoom meeting. Jaws stopped speaking through sound blaster and tried speaking through the speaker built in to my camera. It was too quiet to hear, but fortunately, narrator was loud enough to hear through the small camera speaker. I had to go to windows 10 sound settings and switch the focus back to the sound blaster card, and all audio came through fine. I still have the sound blaster card checked in Jaws, which should mean that all Jaws audio comes through it, even when a different audio output is selected in windows 10 settings. I would like to figure out how to make this work properly. I have my sound blaster card selected in Jaws, but when I go to sound settings in windows and change to a different sound card, I lose Jaws speech. I thought if I specifically selected the sound blaster card in Jaws, and not the windows default sound, Jaws would always speak through the sound blaster card, regardless of selection in windows 10 sound settings. I am trying to route Jaws to the sound blaster card and other sounds to the built in realtek sound card. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, when I plug in any new sound output device, such as a camera, windows 10 makes this the active sound output device, effectively turning off Jaws speech. Randy Meyer .

Hi, Region subcategory does not let you change date – rather, it controls how certain things are displayed depending on where you live (commonly called a “locale”). To change date and time manually (and I’ll introduce you to shorthands):
Try pressing JAWS Key+F12 (or twice) to make sure what you set is kept. If it didn’t, as folks noted, this is a hardware issue. Cheers, Joseph

Windows+I. Try: 1. Open Settings (Windows+I). 2. Go to "Time and Language". 3. Select Date and Time (first subcategory). 4. Select "Sync now". This will synchronize your clock according to what a time server says (default is time.windows.com). If this works, your clock will be set to the correct time unless the hardware clock refuses to honor what Windows says. I'm going to forward this to an actual Windows 10 forum in hopes that folks over there can provide guidance. Cheers, Joseph
