I also experience my cursor jumping in a word document for example, or in the midst of composing an email. I will go back to proof the document only to find the cursor jumped and I am writing in the midst of an earlier paragraph.

It has been going onin Jaws 19 and 20. I am using office 365.

Please remind me how to set a temporary place marker using googlechrome.

With much thanks.

I have been frustrated by this, too, especially if I’m trying to capture bits of information from  the site.  Like another suggested, I have started using setting a temporary placemarker with Control Windows K.  Then, when you come back to the webpage, hit the K key and you’ll jump to the placemarker.

How do I stop the cursor on a web page from jumping back to the top of the page when I’ve left the page and returned to it, only to find myself at the top and having to find my place again?

You should first of all check that you are set to copy with the Virtual cursor in Jaws. Press Jaws V in your web browser and type copy in the search field.
Make sure that the copy is not for all formats etc but for virtual cursor.

Otherwise it  is possible that the web site you are on does not want you to copy text directly and is blocking copy. The only way around this I am aware of is to use Speech history.
Jaws plus space then H for history.
Here you can copy whatever Jaws has been reading.

Does anyone have suggestions?

moderated Go to particular slide in PowerPoint

Van Lant, Robin

Hello,

Has anyone found a way to jump to a particular slide in PowerPoint?  Control G works while in Presentation view, but does not seem to work when creating a deck.  The best way I’ve found currently is to go into slide sorter view and arrow down, but I’d love a way to jump ahead if I know the slide number.  The current thing I’ve been working on has me needing to jump back and forth from a slide I’m adding or editing to the table of contents slide.

Control M is the shortcut to mute and unmute. I'll see what else I can find. You cannot just go into a room without an invitation, but you can do as I have done and ask someone to set up a practice meting where the whole point is for you to log in with your friend and practice moving around. Frankly, I haven't figured out all the features such as chat, whiteboarding and so on. I do the basics such as share my screen. In the version I use, I find it easiest to use the menus at the top that work like an old-school menu system.

A meeting organizer may choose to mute all participants at once to block background noise. Then each person who wants to speak needs to unmute or the host can unmute you. As I noted, Control M is the toggle. If you are listening to the meting via a phone and not via the computer speakers, hitting *6 will mute or unmute your phone line.

Hope that helps to get you started.

That has nothing to do with the behavior of the Reset function (Settings, Update & Security, Recovery Pane, Reset this PC section, Get Started button).  It's a part of Windows 10, whether that's what came with the computer or not.

Depending on which version of Windows 10 you're running there can be certain differences below the level that the user deals with, but that's not relevant to it being accessible with Narrator once Reset is far enough along (which isn't far) to allow Narrator to be invoked.

You will enjoy a much more accessible reading experience if you

download the Kindle for PC program, which works very well with Jaws.

There is no cost for the program.

The web experience is quite dismal, but Kindle for PC works well.
