It isn't jaws doing that, word is doing that.  Open word, hit alt+f, arrow up to options and hit enter.  Arrow down to proofing and hit tab.  All the options are there.  You can decide what is auto-corrected, or turn it off altogether under auto correct options.

Hello friends!

I am planning to move to a new PC and I have to questions.

  1. I am using an ILM license of JAWS and I misplaced the paper which has my license key. Is there a way I can activate JAWS in a new PC?
  2. I forgot how I migrate my JAWS settings files to the new machine. Will you please remind me?

Thank you so much!

Best

Since the JAWS update, opening email from this list often results in a blank page. I used to be able to manually update/refresh the screen. Now I get the message, “unavailable.” The only way I can read the message is to unload JAWS and reload it. Any ideas how to get around this? BTW, other emails open and read just fine.

You should be able to press alt + enter on it and turn off any protection, such as "read only".

Yeah, of course, it’s hateful to have to scroll through endless lists – all I can suggest is that you maybe try using the regular facebook site instead and see if you can get any better results with this.

And good luck getting any kind of answer from facebook support, especially regarding m.facebook.com – they don’t care about it at all and it is buggy and poorly maintained, I think.

I use to use Windows Live Mail RSS, but looking for alternative as Live Mail is an old program which may stop working in years to come.
I have also tried Thunderbird RSS, but it doesn’t seem to work on all RSS feeds. Outlook RSS on the other hand, downloads full article as attachment which is something not preferable.

Hi,

IF the issue is still not resolved I would recommend a uninstall of JAWS and then a re install.  Be sure to leave shared components if you have other Freedom Scientific products on your system.  I am guessing here, but sounds like something went awry with the JAWS install.  Sometimes even a repair cannot fix the issue.

My recommendation would be last resort as myself and others are not having the same issue.

Although I , know from personal experience, that just because others don’t have the issue does not make it any less real or problematic.

        Hi, All.

I don't know if I'm one of only a few who can no longer get Windows Media Player to add media information to CDs I want to rip. Research into how WMP does it and why mine no longer does it has so far failed. Might be that Microsoft no longer supports access to a music database. Anyway, I had started using Gold Wave, which is JAWS compatible. Well.... Gold Wave suddenly quit working about 2 weeks ago, with an error message informing me that my firewall may be blocking Gold Wave.

I turned off Windows Firewall--I don't know how it got turned on in the first place--but Gold Wave still cannot access the music database.

Meanwhile, I have a stack of new CDs I'd like to rip, and I'd like to have the media information rather than Track 1, Track 2, etcetera. Sorry for being long winded. My question is, can you recommend a reliably JFW accessible CD ripper I can use until I figure out what's wrong with Gold Wave? Or, can you direct me to a user group where I can tap into the experience of users who can help me solve my technical difficulty?

Thanks for your time,

I would not be without a software firewall, regardless of who provides it.

Sadly, in windows 10, Jaws is mostly useless in the Settings.

I think you may be able to use the touch cursor or the jaws cursor, but I just unload Jaws or put it into Speak on Demand and launch Narrator with control+windows+enter, do what I need to do in settings, then unload Narrator with the same hotkey.

Well, apparently AnyBurn doesn’t use a database, so it sounds like CD Ex is a better choice.

I just use iTunes for myself so I had not actually used AnyBurn for this.

Keep in mind that at least with Edge installing a site as an app isn't exactly the same as creating a shortcut to it.

If you install a site as an app and then open it, you don't have access to the address bar in Edge or the menus, you have your site and you can navigate it completely, but if you were to open Edge as well to whatever your home page is, you would see two completely separate entries in your taskbar, each site you install as an app shows up separately.

Recently, Jessica asked a question about creating a desktop shortcut for a website in Microsoft Edge. There is also a similar tool in Google Chrome. To use it,

1. Open Google Chrome.

2. Open the website for which you want to create a shortcut.

3. Tap the ALT key and arrow up to More Tools, and press ENTER.

4. Arrow up to Create Shortcut.

5. This will place a shortcut on the desktop.

6. It will also place an entry for the site in your Start Menu under Recently-added apps, and possibly in All Apps.

Be aware that, even if you delete the shortcut which was placed on the desktop for the website, this will not delete the entries in the Start menu. If you want to delete these,

1. Press Windows key plus R, and in the "run" dialog, type

%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

2. You can either delete the subfolder here called Chrome Apps, or you can open this folder and delete any stored websites individually.
