Re: technology for the blind jobs

Brandon Keith Biggs <brandonboy13@...>

Hello,
If you Google assistive technology jobs you come up with lots of jobs.
https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Assistive+Technology+Jobs+&oq=Assistive+Technology+Jobs+&aq=f&aqi=g4g-v6&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=18963l19565l0l22661l2l2l0l0l0l0l118l210l1.1l2l0

I would probably look for training before you start teaching people though. That way you can talk to other professionals, see what the different jobs are and see if that is something you really would like to do.
If I were you I'd get my hands on every piece of technology I could so you can know what's out there. For some reason TVIs and much of the blind community uses Pack mates or Braille Notes so those are kind of a cliché. I would learn about all the other note takers and software's so you can show people that the minority software is often much better than the heavily advertised devices.

As for Jaws Tandem, explore the menu and see what pops up. It's under Utility's in the menu bar. It tells you everything. But basically you get a code from the tandem center and tell your target the code so they can write it into the box that allows access to their computer.
Thanks,

Brandon Keith Biggs

How do you use Jaws Tandum? How does Jaws Tandum work? I am not
looking to tutor people but I was writing to find out what jobs there
would be as a Jaws tester and to learn more about the assistive
technology field. Are there many jobs with assistive technology, and
whhat jobs are there in assistive technology?

Still, there's nothing stopping anybody here from tutoring people

well, there's always tech support.

You can read all about Jaws Tandom in Jaws Help. there's a whole section devoted to it.

You could sell assistive tech, train people to use it, whatever.
Can I ask how old you are?

Re: Speech settings in Miranda

Anders Boholdt-Petersen

Hi everyone,

I am also interested how I can adjust a setting in Miranda or alternative in
the scripts to Miranda (found the scripts on
http://www.blind-geek-zone.net/data/miranda%20jaws%20scripts%20setup.exe
), so JAWS can read when a person log on and off from different social
networks such as MSN, Facebook etc.

I have tried to write the developer of the scripts to Miranda (Jim Grimsby
Jr.), but unfortunately the developer have not wrote back to me.

Have any persons tried to write Freedom Scientific and asked them about
continued developing of the scripts?

Very thanks.

Help with betatesting of JavaRa regarding accessibility for screen readers

Anders Boholdt-Petersen

Hi everyone

In connection with I have used a programme called JavaRa when I will made a
completely clean up after I hae uninstalled the Java Runtime Environment
from Oracle, I have written with the developer Shane Gowland about the
accessibility in the programme for screen readers.

At the time, Shane working on a new version of JavaRa there should remove
more things after the Java Runtime Environment automatically, and add some
new features to JavaRa.

Therefore Shane is very interested to hear from people there using screen
readers regarding the accessibility on the new version of JavaRa, what could
be better?

You can see more about JavaRa here:
http://singularlabs.com/software/javara/javara-download/
.

The new version is JavaRa version 2.0 Beta, and it is this version where
Shane is interested to hear from persons there using screen readers.

If you have comment about the accessibility, please send these directly to
Shane on the e-mail-address shane@....

Very thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,
Anders

According to some "research" done by Microsoft in the last year, 64 bit Windows 7 is "more secure".

I don't recall the details, but for instance, all 64 but drivers must be signed.

The discussion of 32-bst versus 64-bit can be summarized in two
