Hi, Hank. You must still do the same thing, like back in the days of DOS. You must go to Command Prompt, change to the directory, and perform the delete  *. and the 3 letters corresponding to the extension you particularly want to delete.

Hello,

In Win10 when you are wanting to get rid of some particular files all with the same extension in a folder, but not the other files with different extensions in that same folder, is there a way to tell Win10 to in that particular folder to only delete all the files that have that same extension that you want to delete?

Llike in the old days, when we were still using dos and in dos to delete only all the files with a particular same extension in a directory, the dos command once you were located in that particular directory was the dos command delete  *. and the 3 letters corresponding to the extension you particularly wanted to delete.

If maybe someone can help me with this, this would be so very much appreciated. Much, much thanks in advance for any help with this.

All the best,

moderated Reading PDF Documents with Line Numbers

In my work, I frequently have to read transcripts of proceeding where each of the lines is numbered. When I open a transcript like this in Adobe, frequently all of the line numbers will be at the top of the page and I have to keep arrowing down to get to the text. I know this is a unique problem, but is there anything JAWS can do that will help with this? Right now it takes me longer to read these documents than it should.

What version of Itunes do you use? I’m using the most recent version. I’m unable to create a playlist with songs I have outside of Itunes. Do you know how to create the playlists?

Thanks,

Hello group,

There are occasions when I need to contact Apple tech support, as all of my playlists are stored in iTunes on my PC.

As a longtime IE user until recently, after setting up a screen-sharing session through the Ara.apple.com site, I would just press Control N to run the app to connect with a support person.

Now, using Chrome, when attempting to connect with tech support, I receive an error message that I need permission to open third-party apps and that the app is not approved by Microsoft. There is a tab to change permissions, though pressing enter does not change the permission status.

I have tried briefly using Brave. However, after downloading it, and then opening it up, there is a lot of nonsense about earning rewards points and I haven’t taken the time to see how I can change this when it opens.

For those of us who are not blessed with technological acumen, it is a good thing that this lists is in existence.

Best to all,  Justin

Hi Marilyn,

Answers are below the questions:

1: When I’m typing, sometimes I hear “spelling error” and then “out of spelling error.” I do not want to hear these announcements.

A: Open the Settings Center with, Insert + 6, on the number row, now press, control, shift + D, to open default all applications.

Down arrow to, Text processing closed arrow to open.

Down arrow to, Proofing closed, right arrow to open.

Down arrow 1 time to, Detect spelling while navigating..., now press the spacebar until Jaws reports, Off.

Tab to,apply, press the spacebar, tab to, Okay, press enter to save / close.

2: Before, I would hear a ding when moving the cursor either to the very top or bottom of the document. Now all I hear is blank, blank, blank… and I am not sure when I’m at the top or bottom. I want the sounds back.

A: While in the application press, Insert + V , to open quick settings.

Down arrow to find, Top and bottom edg alert with..., press the spacebar until Jaws reports, alert with sound, now tab to, Okay, press enter to save / close.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi Al & Adrian,

When I think to use the, Control, Shift + G , keystroke instead of the, Insert + Pagedown , keystroke and get that save dialogue I tab 1 time to the, don't save button, and press the spacebar.  This closes the document with no problems or changes to the document.

I’m not Mike, needless to say, but your post made me curious. I confirmed that with Word 2016, I have the same experience using shift-control-g. that is, when performing no other operation on a document, after using that command I need to save changes in order to close the document.

My only thought is that the same thing happens when the only operation I perform on a Word document is to copy some text. I haven’t changed it at all, and yet here to,, I must save changes in order to close the document.

In either case, whatever change the program perceives has occurred, I think you can be confident it isn’t one that affects the text or format in any way.

Thank you very much for those GREAT key strokes.  For years I’ve been using the insert and the down arrow keys and I like this new system.

I just tried it on an existing Word document and it worked with lots of info, but when I tried to exit my document, JAWS asked me if I wanted to save changes.  Other than opening the existing document and using Control, Shift and the letter G, I did not change my original document.  Are the Control, Shift and the letter G adding something to my document?  I experimented with the same document and used Insert and the down arrow keys and JAWS did not tell me if I wanted to save the document.  It just exited my document.  Am I doing something wrong when I open up my document and using your commands?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Oh, by the way, I am using JAWS 15, Windows 7 and Word 2010.

I hate to keep bringing this up, but yet another thing freedom scientific
didn't bother to test with jaws 2020.
I am still running jaws 2018.
What whith their new "grace period" authorization not working properly in
windows 10, no support for edge, poor support for large company apps such as
Netflix, it doesn't surprise me that they didn't test their Braille drivers
as well.
I can also tell you, that in my experience you were lucky to get support
directly from freedom scientific.
I am in Ireland. Every time i look for support, all i get is redirected to
sight and sound in the u.k.
90% of the time, they don't know how to fix problems either.
Narrator is not new!!
This should be part of their basic testing.
Yet another reason why i wont upgrade.
Once jaws2018 is no longer effective, i would imagine, that i will be saying
good bye to you good helpful and pleasant people, as i will not upgrade to a
lemon!!
Sorry for ranting, but i am extremely tired of 2020 version and all of its
wonderful problems that we pay for.

Well I hate to tell you this but sadly you will have to replace the rail drivers in jaws for any displays that you used with narrator because the narrator will have erased those drivers and put in their drivers

I had a similar issue with a Focus display. The support person at FS had to enable Braille support in Narrator, change the output to focus; then turn off support in Narrator.

Hi Mike,

Another keystroke that will give a little more than the word count is Control, Shift + G.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Alan,

FYI, yes JAWS key+pagedown/3 still usually works with Word 2016. However,
sometimes it fails, in which case Mike B's instructions explain how to
return the status line to showing these items, or not, as you choose.

Alison,

I'm running Word 2010 on a Windows 7 computer and I use JAWS key plus
PageDown key which reads the status line which reports Page number, line
number, and word count. I don't know if this works in newer versions of
Office but it works well on my system.

Until recently, pressing Jaws key 3 has told me the number of words in my MS
Word document. It now tells me the number of characters and which line I am
on but I am having to press function key 6 in order to get a word count. Is
there a way I can amend this?

I found a keystroke jaws+alt+s where I can change the scheme to read the
colors -- I don't know why it did not work when I tried to do it from the
settings center, but it seems to work fairly well, only problem is that Jaws
goes silent sometimes for 15-20 seconds after I hit jaws-to-pc hot key --
using Chrome.

Thanks for everyones suggestion, I hope this works.

While the accessibility is a little quirky, it's all there, and you might want to reclass some controls, but it's all very usable as is.

Until the Narrator braille driver conflict with Jaws is fixed, this is going to happen.
You may want to contact Microsoft Accessibility support to at least register your complaint that the Narrator braille driver is in conflict with the Jaws driver.

Hi, Justin. I don't know if this will correct your problem with opening third-party apps, but try the following,

1. Go to Windows Settings with Windows Key plus I, if you have Windows 10.

2. Right Arrow to Apps and Features, and press ENTER.

3. Make sure that Choose Where to get Apps from is set to Anywhere.
