Re: advanced users: Multiple cursors
Mario
the JAWS cursor can be moved independently around the screen while the PC cursor remains in one spot. the JAWS cursor does not have to be routed to where the PC cursor is every time the JAWS cursor is used.

address envelopes using word and jaws free matter for the blind
Jim Ruby
Hi, using jaws and ms word or other app does anyone have a template or
instructions on how to address envelopes that will print the "free matter for the blind or Physically Handicap" in the upper right hand corner of the envelope? They would also need to print on normal letter sized and also the larger ones too. Thanks. They are using jaws 2018

Re: advanced users: Multiple cursors
Edward Green
Hi Mark, You can do this to an extent. For example, when you turn on the JAWS cursor you are in effect moving the mouse pointer round the screen, leaving the PC cursor where it is. The route PC to JAWS then moves the PC cursor to where the JAWS cursor is, to save you the bother of moving the cursor yourself. The real barrier for what you want to accomplish is that JAWS broadly speaking uses the same commands to move all of its cursors, and you decide which cursor you want to move by activating it. This makes sense from one perspective because it saves having to remember a bunch of commands or saves JAWS commands conflicting with commands for Windows or the application you happen to be using. However, other screen readers take/took different approaches. Back when it existed, Window-Eyes used different commands for moving the PC cursor and the mouse pointer. That meant that you could do what you say, and not be restricted only to having one cursor active at a time. Cheers, Ed

Thank you. Yes, Windows Explorer, my terminology is very out of date. My last time using Windows was in 2011 and I was sighted then. Like I mentioned, I am a complete newbie to Windows again.

If by File Explorer you mean Windows Explorer, here's what to
do.
Open Windows Explorer.
press Alt-T for Tools, O for options.
In the property page that opens, shift tab to the tab controls
and right arrow to the view tab.
Tab to the tree view and find the item called "Use check boxes
to select items." I pressed the letter U and jumped right to
it.
Press spacebar to unselect the tree view
item.
Tab to OK and press spacebar.
If File Explorer is different than Windows Explorer, maybe
File Explorer copied the menu choices, property page and so on from Windows
Explorer. Couldn't hurt to try.

How to remove the check boxes that proceed my file names
Jim Weiss
All,’I just bought a new laptop and all of my file names in file explorer and the icons on the desktop have a check box that proceed them. I remember changing this setting a long time ago, but for the life of me I can’t find it. I seem to remember making this change inside of file explorer, but can’t remember where. Also, what is the purpose for the check boxes?

Re: Zoom with JAWS and bluetooth headphones
David Diamond
I use an audio mixer from Amazon. The way it works is, JAWS is set to go through the mixer as is my Bluetooth hearing aids. This way I hear everything. The Zoom meetings and everything that can be seen by the host or other participants. Who has left, who has joined etcetera. I believe the mixer cost $39.95. No taxes or shipping costs.

Re: Hardware Drivers
Glenn / Lenny
Hi Annabelle,
I would run the jaws installer, and you will be
given the option to repair, and it is either at that point where the reinstall
video intercept is, or that is further into the repair Jaws.
Jaws has a dedicated video intercept utility
somewhere in the freedom scientific folder in Program Files or Program files
(x86) folder as well, but I don't know the exact name of the file off-hand, but
it can be found.

Dennis,
Usually if it is less than 1 MB, it will show it in
