Re: location of list

hi,

well it seems that James is hosting the list off of his own site in Canada, and yes one can do such things, normally a ISP provider will give you a automated group server handling program such as mailman and you can run a list, usually those who do this are companies and the list has to do with there product/products, but in this case he used it for the jfw list.

I think he is somewhere around Ottawa Canada.

take care,

So sorry I was dead beat at gone midnight last night, I should have called
it a day, but drilling at a house just uphill of me had caused bedlam
during normal hours, I only wanted to know, after our moves of late where
we are, it is true a friend in Hampshire did say he thought it was once in
Australia., I do not know, I believe someone called Jonathon Mosem is in
either Australia or New Zealand but he would not have a list would he? I
cannot recall just what he does?
Sorry again for the messy email regards Dorothy

Right now, Firefox is one big freaking mess. FF 6 is already in beta and is scheduled to be released on August 16. And FF 7 is not far behind. So if Webvisum doesn't work with FF 5, then it certainly won't work with FF 6.

I tried downloading FF5.0 from my Downloads folder and got the notification that Webvisum was disabled; also I found the Tools\Options\Manage Addons less accessible and had trouble finding the addon I wanted to modify. Then I downloaded FF3.6.19 from a message sent by another lister, went to Webvisum and tried downloading the plugin, but still the plugin wasn't activated.
If you have a link to Firefox 4 please send it, but last spring I got this message regarding some of its drawbacks:
Gone are the layers of tool bars, status bars, the bookmark bar. Instead there is a row of tabs-much like Chrome. Interestingly, Mozilla is sticking to the more traditional address box on the left and search box on the right like IE and Safari. Chrome has combined the search box and address box into one.
Have these issues been resolved yet? Thanks again for your feedback.

If you have FF3 installed why not just do the normal install? That
should still work fine as far as I know. I was only having problems
because I did upgrade to FF5 when it was offered, not realizing that
the upgrade would kill webvisum. It was working fine even with FF4.

You don't need a new invitation. I have no idea whether it will work

installed anyway.

Okay, I downloaded and installed the XPI from that page (not the
easiest thing to find due to the page being in German and eloquence
continually switching to German pronunciation). It actually works
better than indicated for me (win7 pro 64bit, jaws 12), I even get the
speech notices when a challenge has been submitted and solved (the
only operation I use webvisum for). Thanks

Hi,

look here:
http://www.camp-firefox.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=91070
and try to install Webvisum from the xpi linked there.
* Works without trouble with FF5 (at least under Linux) and is
supposed
to work with 6 either.
* You obviously won't get any notifications from Webvisum (e.g. when
a
captcha is solved), at least I cannot see any, might be a
screenreader
issue.
* Just mail me if the link is down; in this case I would provide an
alternative.

Hello:
I wish to be accurately guided to invariant procedures in which I can proceed to delete all the eloquence languages that is comprising American English ; and just to keep what is mentioned in the message title ; couple of days ago ; I had conducted to throw some of them ; but when it came to the American English ; it won't let me deleting it ; veto even in JAWS? ; when I insisted to do so , an unexpected error had occured that enforced me to reinstall the executable.
Why it has been adapted the feature of language selecter which we use to experience at earlier edditions of JAWS?

Best Wishs.

Re: tried to install WebvisumRe: Fw: Webvisum-discuss Digest, Vol 4, Issue 4

I have no idea whether it will work
with FF3.6. And yes, I got the same warning and just sucked it up and
installed anyway.

How could I do better without knowing German? I couldn't seem to find Soronel's actual message--just a string of original messages and a lot of gibberish near the bottom. Would this work with Windows XP Pro 32-bit Jaws 9?

Hi guys, I agree to. Programmes for a start like updating the parts for
firefox for those who like using it, and for thoes who use live mail the
part where one replys to a mail still isn't proaply working cos I still have
to turn off the virtual viewer it doesn't bovver me but I am thinking for
those who will come to use the programme in the future and for some of those
jaws users it might be new to jaws and when they suddenly find out that when
replying to a message and hear the two popping sounds and start typing well
they will be out of luck and for the newbies they might of not of even heard
of the virtual curser and therefore be misled thinking oh I can't reply to
this person and might automaticly asume that ok this programme is
inaccessible with jaws. Do you all see what I mean?

As another grandpa I just want to put in my two cents. I agree that
things like researchit may be nice for a lot of people and maybe for a
few people find it useful on the job but personally I would like them to
go back to producing a good stable product.
This "now it work and now it doesn't" puts a huge strain on people in the
workplace and the workplace is tough enough as it is.
If it worked in one version and not in the next FS should be clear about
what they are doing. Are they supporting this or they not. If they are
not going to support a product they should be up front about and announce
it publicly not just jerk every one around.
I have been a long time user of jaws and I actually like the product I
just think SF needs to adjust their attitude and priorities.

Hi Grampa,
I agree that FS should get Excel and Access up and working first then play
with ReasearchIt.
Now, in all fairness, I do like the ReasearchIt function and use them
daily but I would much rather be able to get to Access.

Hello Eric,

I received this announcement from you on our list, shared by one of our
subscribers. I wonder why you didn't post a similar message on our list?
Jfw@...

Also my inputs do not lean in the direction that you are suggesting in
your
message. I for one would much rather FS focus on getting JAWS more stable
with critical applications than to further do repairs on ResearchIt
capability to harvest sports scores.

I have written to FS Support on a number of occasions on bugs that have
cropped up in various versions of JAWS, most notably in JAWS 12 where the
update after 12.0.525 caused Excel 2007 to crash. I reported this and the
"fix" did not work at all. I've continued to stick with 12.0.525 as a
result
so I can get my work done.

Further I've pointed out that the implementation of the virtual ribbon in
Excel, Word, and Outlook is flawed and inconsistent w/r the QAT. In Excel
the QAT works differently in virtual ribbon mode than with Outlook and
Word.
Moreover a few key Excel JAWS shortcuts were removed (intentionally?
accidentally?) from the .JKM file in version 12 so that I could no longer
read the top 4 column cells. Those keystrokes were given over to the QAT,
I
believed. I had to copy the script functions from a JAWS 11 .JSS filed and
paste into the JAWS 12 file and recompile, and then reassign the
Ctrl+Shift+1, 2, 3, and 4 keys.

That type of work should not have been necessary for the end user to do.

I am so imbued with the strength of using the QAT that I keep the virtual
ribbon turned off now. I continue to improve on using the ribbon and only
turn on VR when I just can't find a function. Then it's off again.

I think FS needs to take a long look with a wide perspective, on the
Office
applications, the QAT, and the VR to come up with a consistent approach to
having them all work together, and all work the same.

Thanks for listening.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS updated, regarding the MLB problems in
Research It

Greetings all,

Nobody is more disappointed to have lost the MLB option in Research It
more
than I am. Especially when you consider the tight race in the American
League East where my Sox are doing battle once again with the Yanks and
the
Rays. Anyway, here is the scoop on what has happened.
About a week or 10 days ago, ESPN made modifications to how they expose
sports results in an effort to block many different products that had been
tapping into ESPN to get the info in real time and display it. We believe
this was done in an effort to get more organizations to purchase access to
the data and prevent anyone from getting it otherwise. This will not only
impact MLB on Research It, but all of the sports.

We have been investigating the MLB site itself and many other places like
YAHOO but so far, have not found any site that exposes the information
away
that will work. We are also reaching out to ESPN and trying to explain who
we are and what we are doing in order to see if we can get them to work
with
us. If any of you who use Research It to get access to daily scores would
be
willing, please write to them at:
https://r.espn.go.com/members/contact/index

Please be polite and remember, they are not targeting JAWS and Research It
when they make these changes. It would be helpful to explain to them how
beneficial it has been to use Research It in order to get the scores and
schedules without having to weed through all the extra information
presented
on very busy web pages. I'm sure that together, we can all work this out
and
FS will get this fixed and working again as quickly as possible.

Ken, I talked with someone from FS about the MLB scores feature not
working,
and they told me that ESPN was going to charge them to continue using
them,
so they are now looking for someone else. They say they're working on
fixing the problem, but the scores feature hasn't worked in a month now.
Doesn't appear they're in a big hurry.

Hi list, for the last few days I can't get research it to click the full
forecast link in weather. also am not getting to read MLB scores. it
says clearly type using the Date in a dd/mm/yyy format but it is saying
research it found now results. Now that newsline is using the ticker on
the AP feed it's easier to use research it. any ideas?

Okay, I downloaded and installed the XPI from that page (not the
easiest thing to find due to the page being in German and eloquence
continually switching to German pronunciation). It actually works
better than indicated for me (win7 pro 64bit, jaws 12), I even get the
speech notices when a challenge has been submitted and solved (the
only operation I use webvisum for). Thanks

Hi,

look here:
http://www.camp-firefox.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=91070
and try to install Webvisum from the xpi linked there.
* Works without trouble with FF5 (at least under Linux) and is supposed
to work with 6 either.
* You obviously won't get any notifications from Webvisum (e.g. when a
captcha is solved), at least I cannot see any, might be a screenreader
issue.
* Just mail me if the link is down; in this case I would provide an
alternative.

then you have either a problem with protection software or a goof up in your system, run a system file check (run, cmd in it and enter, then sfc/scannow in the command prompt)

and have a restore or backup disk available so if it needs it you can get to a fresh copy of the files that sfc will try to replace.

I know two methods, although there may be some other better way I am not aware of:

If you want to pick a contact from your contact list:
Open the new message dialog (Control+N).
Starting from the “To:” field, shift tab once to the “Select contacts” button, and activate it by pressing the space bar.
Arrow down the list to the contact you want.
Press tab once to move to the “To:” edit box and press the space bar to activate it.
Press tab again and the name and address of the contact will appear in the “TO:” field.

Another way is to start typing the name or address of the contact in the “To:” field. The full contact will automatically be finished, but the Jaws PC cursor doesn’t read it. However, if you shift tab once, and then tab back to the “To:” field, you will hear Jaws read the contact name and address, and you are ready to tab forward to the subject field.
