this is the issue with the teams and the fs is working hard to solve the issue.
mean while, there is a tempearry solution.
when the focus is on the teams and if the jaws is not speaking,
anything, don't worry, just press windows up twice and windows down
arro key once, now the jaws may speak the ctrls on the teams.

Part of your problem is that you have an old version of JAWS and you

Impressed that so many are successfully working with MS Teams. I'm
having fits.
Using Win 10 JAWS 18. I've listened to the You tube videos and checked
out the Microsoft link, provided on list. What should be happening, in
order to join a meeting is not consistent. Supposed to be able to hit
enter on the MS Team calendar entry and have it open, revealing the join
link, but I get dead silence when I do this.
I've made sure that the virtual PC is enabled, but don't know what else I
can try. In general, lots of the word "blank" when hitting tab and arrow
keys.

moderated Zoom Issue

Justin Mcdevitt

Hello Group,

I’ve used Zoom more or less successfully over the past few weeks. However, some minutes ago, I plugged in my headphones for a zoom meeting and after hearing the pinging sound that the headphones were connected, I could not hear Jaws: that is, there was no audio. What can I do to correct this.

Best, Justin

USB works, too. I use Zoom, TeamTalk, TeamSpeak, etc., and a screenreader, all with my Behringer X32 and the X-Live card, each on its own channel pair.

Next time, try this hotkey:

As a host, it lands you on the end meeting button.

I suspect as a participant, it should land you on the leave meeting button.

This is where a braille display would help a lot.

I don't know that router, but checking those boxes might not mean what
you think it does. For intance, on my Verizon Fios Gateway G1100

Have you tried the ports to see whether or not they actually got enabled?

I am still hopeful that one day there will be a way to trim the features of JAWS during installationand remove those extras that not everyone need.

Kevin,  You need another sound card or a USB sound adapter that you can plug in headphones to hear JAWS.
This will also keep JAWS out of your Zoom meeting audio.

I did press control, alt and delete to bring up task manager and once again because the volume was up and people were still talking I couldn’t tell if task manager was open. Even it was I wouldn’t been able to kill the zoom session as I couldn’t tell which task it was. Iwonderif there is a way to route Jaws to one speaker and the Zoom meeting to the other speaker.

Did you try to just close zoom, or did you click on the Leave meeting button?

My guess is you tried to close out without leaving the meeting, thus left yourself hung up in the meeting.

If that isn’t what happened, the only other thing I would have tried was using Task Manager to end the Zoom task.

Hello, I’m using most recent version of Jaws2020, windows and zoom. The other day I was on a Zoom call and when I tried to close out, Jaws was unable to read anything. I pressed alt F4 and still couldn’t get out of it. I pressed alt tab and nothing happen. I could still hear the people still on the call talking. The only thing I could do is a hard shut down. When I did this I heard a buzzing noise until the PC was shut down. What could have caused not being able to end call? Thanks, Kevin

I've had odd things happen as a result of Windows updates regarding JAWS and the headphone output on one of my computers. Among things that have already been mentioned, check what sound card JAWS thinks it's using. On my system I have to set it to use something called "Speakers (external)". When I plug 'phones in, they work. There's also a speaker inside the computer. If I select that one--"speakers (internal)"--and plug 'phones in, nothing happens. It depends not just on what JAWS is set to use, but also what Windows thinks is its default audio device.
That can be found in Settings (Windows Key + I), type "sound" and press down-arrow until you hear "Sound settings," then tab through the dialog to discover how your system is set.

Next time, try this hotkey:

  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift: Move focus to Zoom's meeting controls

As a host, it lands you on the end meeting button.

I suspect as a participant, it should land you on the leave meeting button.

This is where a braille display would help a lot.

I suppose you could try using two sound cards, but that is something I’ve never done.

When I tabbed while in Zoom Jaws didn’t say anything. I had the volume turned all the way up as it was a virtual spin class. When class was over the instructor and other were still talking. Since the volume was so loud I couldn’t hear Jaws very well. I did press control, alt and delete to bring up task manager and once again because the volume was up and people were still talking I couldn’t tell if task manager was open. Pressing Alt + F4 displays a dialog that contains, among other things, a "Leave meeting" button. Activate that, then you can shut Zoom down. Realize, too, that closing the Zoom window with another Alt + F4 doesn't actually shut anything down; it just sends it to the system tray. If you really want Zoom gone from memory, that has to be done by selecting "Exit" from Zoom's system tray menu.

Good afternoon, all:

Last night, all of a sudden, JAWS 2018 stopped talking when I have my headphones on; I switched out the headphones; however, that did not resolve the issue. It’s also worth nnoting that there’s still audio coming out of the headphones because, when I go to turn-up/down the volume, I can hear the “ping” sound whenever I slide the volume up or down.

I hope this description of the issue makes sense, and I thank-you in advance for any assistance one can offer.
