Norma, Glad it worked. I don’t know that it works as consistently as I’d like and the label JAWS reads aloud for that box could be better. If you cannot get Alt A to work, try tabbing around the dialog a bit, then doing Alt A. This seems to help.
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Norma A. Boge
Hi Robin,
I had previously tried Alt A to get into the address field with no luck. But, I tried it just now and it did the trick. I don’t know what the problem was previously, with Office 365 and Jaws it could be any number of things. I am just so glad that you made the Alt A suggestion and it worked.
With much appreciation, Norma
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Van Lant, Robin via groups.io
Norma, I’m in JAWS 2020 with Office 365. It’s not operating as smoothly as I would like, but I’m able to read it. It seems like JAWS loses focus a bit and also sometimes read a bit extra. There is a shortcut key of Alt A to get to the text box where the address can be typed or appears if you hit the label option after selecting the text you wanted in your label. I’m not sure that I have a consistent work around and I’m heading into a meeting, but a quick answer is to use Alt A and either Insert tab or Insert up arrow to read the current line. It seems that if I type my address into the text field in the label dialog, I can hear as I type, but I am not consistently able to reread what I typed without navigating away, using Alt A, then one of the read line options. I’ll come back to this conversation later and see if I can help anymore later today.
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Brian Vogel
I also forgot to ask, what label template? I can try to play with this later today or this evening with JAWS and see what happens for me. It's helpful to know exactly what it is you're trying to accomplish and how you're going about doing it. What browser are you using to work inside of WordPress? I am primarily a Mac user, but am running Windows 10 as a virtual machine. I seem to have the best luck with my edits using Chrome (latest version) on Win 10 version 1909. I am very new to WordPress and attribute most of my problems with my unfamiliarity of the platform. Also if you know of any sites or podcasts that provide some hints and tips it would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to avoid purchasing the $99 book that I keep coming across.
Thanks in advance,

Hello,
I have some steps you can use regardless of which browser you are using. This works in Windows 10. I do not know if it works in earlier versions of Windows. This works for all sorts of things to send to your desktop like folders, documents, or even a commonly used email address.
Go to your desktop. Press control-space bar to deselect anything on your desktop. Press the applications key or shift-10. Arrow up or down to new and press enter. Arrow to shortcut and press enter. You will be in an edit field. Type or copy/paste your web site URL. Tab to next button and press enter. On the next screen give this a name and tab to finish. Press enter.
I hope this helps.

Hi!
I am using Windows 10, JAWS 2019 and Firefox. Unlike in IE, Firefox seems not to have the “Send Shortcut to Desktop” command. I use to have an extension called something like “Deskcut” in my Firefox, but apparently it became deprecated and was automatically removed. So, is there any easy way natively within Firefox, or a good extension for, sending a link to the currently viewed website (i.e., its URL) to the desktop?
Thanks, Richard

Unfortunately, there were 2 problems. the first, was the link, which took you to the shopping basket page. This link had no text lable, to tell a user of a screen reader the purpose of the link. The link is a standard HTML coded link. the second is a standard HTML button, which also does not have a text label. This button is for removing an item from the shopping basket. My question is, is there a way within JAWS, where you can attach labels to specific links and buttons on an individual web site? The link and button on this web site are not graphics Thanks in anticipation. Dave Durber

As for where to report a bug I'm sure you can look at amazon and go through their help files and it will tell you where to report it.
I hadn't had a chance to check it out with another screen reader yet but I actually have experienced this with jaws. If when you alt tab back to Kindle you tab over 1 spot to library and shift tab back into the document your cursor will reappear. Also If you will remember to maximize the kindle window, you have to do it from your library it won't let you do it from inside the book, this doesn't happen.

I continued to experience the problem with my 5GHz band crashing, so I decided to try a wifi 6 router. I purchased a Netgear Nighthawk. (I don't recall the model number.) And set it up with my wife's sighted assistance. All went well except my Lenovo Flex laptop simply didn't see either the 2.4 or 5 GHz bands. I called Netgear support and waited for literally hours to talk to customer (dis)service only to get disconnected without a solution. I wasn't going to wait around for several more hours, so I returned the Netgear router and purchased a TP-Link Archer AX50. I encountered a few glitches with its setup as well, but I got them all resolved. First, I had the same problem with the AX50 not being seen by my Lenovo laptop, so I had my wife help me set it up using her iPad. We had some trouble getting our preferred password to work. I think the iPad was substituting some special characters which the router didn't like. Since my laptop was the only device that didn't want to connect to the network, I figured it was probably a driver issue, so I went looking for a driver update. I first checked Windows update, but it said my driver was up to date. I then went to the Lenovo website, but couldn't find anything that looked like a driver update for the wireless adaptor in my Flex laptop. Finally, I scoured the Intel website and after much hunting around, I found a driver update for my wireless network adapter. I installed it and restarted my computer. At last, all my devices connected to my new wifi 6 router, including my Lenovo laptop. And so far, (crossing fingers) no crashes! And I was able to enter my preferred password from my laptop. To summarize, my Lenovo laptop needed a driver update in order to work with a wifi 6 router. The Netgear probably would have worked with the driver update, but I'm happy with the TP-Link and it was actually a bit less expensive. I have noticed that I don't get quite as fast download speeds, but that could be due to any number of reasons, such as a busier Internet or even the driver update. Getting a slightly diminished download speed is way better than having to reboot my router several times a day. I guess time will tell whether I made a good decision in choosing this router.
