I'm not sure what the original point was of tping Edge update, but that does not get you to where you can update Edge.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
You either download the newer version from the Microsoft web site or update it from within Edge itself. But edge update is not a recognized command. Richard "There's a nap for that." - an anonymous cat in a window in Portland, Oregon.

Haha, nice. I had a feeling you should check that actually, but maybe I never sent a message here about it. I don’t know what would have changed the setting either but, I think I have seen things like that happen before.

Sent: April 4, 2020 5:09 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: VLC Revisited
I thought I would just post to say how I had resolved my VLC difficulty. Some may recall last week that out of the blue VLC suddenly refused to play any media for me. Altering settings in VLC, including adjusting volume made no difference. I therefore uninstalled and reinstalled VLC – still no difference. I then had to install WinAmp to provide a replacement for the last week. Tonight I suddenly remembered that I had not checked the Windows Sound Mixer. I typed sndvol after pressing the Windows key. Sure enough when I came to the VLC slider in the Windows Mixer I found that VLC had been set to 0%. I changed this to 100% and VLC suddenly blared back to life.
Quite what had happened in Windows to set VLC in the Sound Mixer to 0% is a complete mystery to me. I am the only person using this PC and I have been nowhere near the Windows Sound Mixer since last year. Some errant electrons have obviously strayed where they should not stray. Anyway I have VLC back working again and thought I would post this in case someone else encountered this or a similar issue. David Griffith.

For Jaws press Jaws Key + J and then Jaws Key + Control + V For Windows press the Windows Key or Windows Key + R for the Run dialogue and type WinVer (short for Windows Version)

Re: scripts where should they go?
Richard Turner
Well, I think Jaws puts scripts in several places.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
But, the zoom scripts that installed automatically for me went into: C:\program data\freedom scientific\jaws\scripts So, maybe one day, someone from Freedom Scientific will give a definitive answer on this list. Or at least tell us that all three places that have been given so far work. Richard "There's a nap for that." - an anonymous cat in a window in Portland, Oregon.

Re: scripts where should they go?
Ann Byrne
This is how I add scripts:
1. unzip the file. 2. Go to the JAWS screen. 3. Alt-u to open the utilities folder. 4. Down arrow to "explore utilities"; it's pretty far down the list. 5. Down arrow to 'explore my settings". 6. Press enter. There are folders, and some scripts--the default JAWS scripts as well as any you might have added. 7. Paste your scripts in this folder. Close everything. Note: The utilities folder includes 'script manager'; skip this. go on to 'explorer my settings". Below "Explore my settings" there is "explore my scripts". You don't want that. You want "explore my settings". Good luck. Ann

Need help for using Jaws 2020 Windows 10 uploading files to my YouTube channel
Sharon Ballantyne
Hi All, I am a totally blind user, using JAWS 2020 latest version, Windows 10 on PC laptop. In this world turned upside down I am needing to take zoom recordings and upload them to my YouTube channel.
The upload button is accessed via an icon image of a movie camera for the sighted. My screenreader is skipping over this and I keep needing to get my sighted partner to hit thisbutton so I can upload my files.
Is there a keyboard shortcut command to get me there or some way I can bring this in to focus?
If there are any people comfortable creating YouTube videos with JAWS, I would love any tips. It is very tedious and I think there must be a more efficient way.
Also would love to know how to create a consistent inclusion of a little music lead at the beginning and end! Any and all tips welcome. Thank-you.

It's always a good idea to keep Office 365 up to date for security reasons as well as to receive the latest features - including improvements in accessibility. Microsoft seems to have been consistently devoting more resources to accessibility in recent years.
