Re: JAWS and color-coded emails in Outlook
Mike B
Hi Mike,
Let me first state, I've never tried doing this so you might
have to experiment a little. While in Outlook you can try changing the
scheme to see how this works, and to change schemes try the
following.
Note: Take notice of the highlighted scheme when opening
the schemes list, so you know which one to revert back to for your
default.
1. While in Outlook press, Insert, Alt + S, to open the list
of schemes.
2. Navigate up / down through the list and the scheme I would
try first is, Colors. With your chosen scheme highlighted / selected press
enter. Now see if Jaws reads / reports as you want.
Also pressing, Insert + 5, on the number row will report
foreground & background colors.
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Re: Forcing Google Chrome to open PDFs with Adobe
Mike B
Hi Cher,
I'm late to this thread and I'm sorry if I'm repeating
something that has already been mentioned. Try having the PDF files
downloaded so you can read them with Adobe instead of Chrome opening them, steps
are below.
1. Press, Alt + F, to open the Chrome context menu, and up
arrow to, Settings, and press enter. Or press, Alt + F, then press the
letter, S, to open the menu / settings.
2. Tab to, Privacy & Security link, press enter, then tab to Site Settings link, press enter. 3. Now tab 25 times or so to, link PDF Documents, press enter, tab 1 time to, Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome Toggle button, and press your spacebar so that Jaws reports, Pressed Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome Toggle button. Note: It's very important that you hear the word, PRESSED, because this means this setting is turned on. Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi David,
If you want practice using the, Jump to line,
feature you can do this on any webpage pretty much. Let's say you go to,
JoeBlow.com, and you're downarrowing or however you navigate just stop on any
line, and press the letter, J, and you'll hear Jaws report the
following,
Jump To Line Jump To Line dialog Enter Line
Number (1 to 126): edit
Now press the say line command, Insert + uparrow,
or the, down arrow key, to hear what line number you're on. So let's say
that this is a line that has a mouseover thingy on it and you want to come back
to it another time during this same session. You would make note of the
line number, then when you wanted to come back to this line you would press the
letter, J, and enter the page number and press enter. Now you could press
the letter, J, then again press, Insert + up arrow, or downarrow key to verify
you're on the correct line number, then press escape to get out of the line
number edit field / dialogue.
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Hello,
I think that the easiest way to download a PDF to your computer from Chrome or any other browser so you can read it in Acrobat Reader is to simply hit Control S when you are on the browser's PDF viewer. This will open the standard Save As dialog box, from which you can choose the save location on your PC. Regarding the previous post on changing your default PDF viewer in your PC settings, that works only for PDFs already on your PC, not ones opened on the web. Regards, David David

Re: Using iTunes with JAWS
CJ &AA MAY
I only use it at a basic level. When iTunes opens, you are offered four lists through which you can arrow.
The first is an alphabetical list of genre choices, starting with all. You can arrow through these choices, so if you are only looking for classical pieces, you would arrow down to that genre and the following two lists would only present music from this genre.
You can then tab to the second list, which is an alphabetical list of artists, starting with All.
The third list would contain albums/songs by your chosen artist. You may have several albums by your preferred artist, in which case you would arrow down to the preferred album.
Lastly, you will now have a list of the songs on that album.
If you just tab through these list without making any adjustments, leaving All as the default, then when you reach the final list, what you will have is a complete list of the music you hold in your iTunes folders.

I’ve had no problem getting Chrome to open PDF files in Adobe. Here’s how I do it in Windows 10:
Once you get to .PDF, Jaws should tell you what the default program it will open in. On yours it should say ‘Google Chrom. Press space and tab until you hear ‘Adobe Acrobat’. Then I just press Alt and F4 to close the program. To check that it’s worked, follow the above instructions up to step four or open a PDF file in Google Chrome.
Hope that helps.

Hi again, Don and Cher. I was wrong in my last message. I just hadn’t found out how to cause PDF’s to be handled in a way other than to be opened in Google Chrome. I am right in that you cannot cause Google Chrome to open files in Adobe. However if you do the following, you can cause them to be downloaded, instead of opening in the browser.
1. Open Google Chrome. 2. Go to Settings. 3. Arrow down to Site Settings and press ENTER. 4. Go to Privacy and Security. TAB until you get to the PDF documents link and press ENTER. 5. Now choose the Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome button, and press SPACE.
Now, if you encounter a PDF file on a web page, you can download it, then view it in Adobe.

Press ALT + F to open chrome menu and scroll down to settings.
This will download the PDF files instead of opening it directly in your browser. And from the downloads you can open these pdf files with Adobe.
