Re: Cannot copy text in Chrome
JM Casey
You can, yes, although virtual buffer in JAWS for instance is supposed to circumvent this and usually does, but of course copying that way, you lose formatting and other stuff. Good enough for me to get away with it sometimes, though.

However, I have encountered several websites where I can't copy anything while using chrome. The Washington Post comes to mind, as does the Guardian. I can select text, but nothing happens when I press control-c. In the applications menu, "copy" is greyed out. In these cases, I have to open the same page in another browser, usually IE11, and make the copy there. A fast way to get to the "copy" option in the JAWS quick settings menu is to type "copy" in the edit field when settings opens. -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Michael Mote Sent: Friday, March 20, 2020 2:50 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: Cannot copy text in Chrome Hi there. If you are in Chrome, you will want to change the following setting. Press Insert plus V to access the Chrome Quick Settings. In the search box, type copy. Use the arrow key to find the option that says copy find the options. If it is set to copy content from screen, hit your spacebar once. The option will change to copy from virtual cursor. Use the tab key to move to the OK button and press enter. See if this resolves your issue. Good luck! QCast?
Hi,
For years, I have used the QCast program to download or play podcasts, but although I was able to install and even activate it, it either won't download podcast episodes or in many cases won't even add the podcast at all. Anyone have any suggestions or a suggestion for other programs? Thanks, ~Ann

Are you uninstalling and reinstalling the same Firefox executable? You may have a corrupted file. Go to Firefox site and get a new download. Save the executable, disconnect from the internet by removing the plug from your modem, install Firefox and turn off automatic updates then plug in your internet.

I’m currently on the $15.95 plan and have been pleased to have gotten two recent offers where I get two books for 1 credit. There is a link I havent’ used yet where I can get 3 extra credits for something like $30. I’m not even sure I’ll keep the subscription going after another month or two, but have liked that I’ve gotten a bit more for my money while in it without making a huge commitment like the platinum plan. I’ve also done Chirp Audio books, where I get an daily email of discounted books that come in around $6 or $7 each. The player is quite accessible on iPhone; havent’ tried it with JAWS.

For example or all the information you require you only have to press the I key. Often I quit Jaws when I am going to be using VLC as the experience is so much better supported. to given that WinAmp is increasingly unsupported and to some extent obsolete, I moved to VLC as WinAmp kept on crashing under Windows 10, and failed to play some streams that VLC had no problem with, it seems utterly bizarre that Jaws provides no support for VLC at all. Hi, David. Yes, I have been experiencing the same problem from time to time with the latest update to JAWS. If I close all windows and try the shortcut again, the folder usually opens with no problem.

HI all,
Windows 10, JAWS 2020
In recent weeks, I have frequently heard “unavailable” when hitting a desktop shortcut. Especially the Downloads, Documents, and a few other folders. Only folders, not shortcuts to programs or web pages. Does anybody have similar problems? Does anybody have a solution? It happens quite frequently and is very annoying. And I know the desktop shortcuts have been put in correctly, so that’s not the problem.
Thanks for any help on this, David

Re: Audible.com
Hi Andy,
Sorry my Audible subscription link didn't work. I'm always a bit leery of providing links when I'm signed into an online account because they often don't work for others. I'd suggest you contact Audible directly using their contact form website found here:
Otherwise, you can call them directly at (888) 283-5051 with your subscription questions.

Hi Allan, I don't see anything on any subscriptions except Audible escape, romance books that you borrow or 1 credit of the regularmembership for $14.95. I am looking at another audio book club that you can download unlimited books for free for the first month and $19.95 per month each month after. It says that you can read the books on the computer or any other means... Not sure how the books are formatted though. I am tempted to check it out... Andy and Shubert

Andrew,
I'm reposting my previous message in html format in order to keep the link from breaking when it spans more than one line. Here is the link to the Audible website to which I was taken when checking my account for membership plans:
https://www.audible.com/account/switch?ref=a_account_o_c2_account_detail_swi tch_membership <https://www.audible.com/account/switch?ref=a_account_o_c2_account_detail_sw itch_membership&pf_rd_p=935889bd-1b43-4bad-b2ac-246de54598d0&pf_rd_r=FSNNFSB 228SPT78Q1Y4H> &pf_rd_p=935889bd-1b43-4bad-b2ac-246de54598d0&pf_rd_r=FSNNFSB228SPT78Q1Y4H
They still seem to have gold and platinum annual and monthly membership plans.
And in case the above link gets messed up again, here's a TinyURL link to the same site:

Hello, does anyone know if Audible.com discontinued the gold or platinum membership plan? It seems that it is not listed on their website... I only find the $14.95 per month or one other plan for $12 or so monthly. Of course, there are no customer reps there at this time. Thank you

In the UK audible is 7.99 per month, or at least it was in 2008 when we set up our account. I'm one of those 'few long-term members' who still uses a username to log in.

Thanks Richard. I have an account currently and it doesn’t offer me anything but the escape membership or the $14.95 per credit per month. Maybe I’ll try that and see if it kicks in other offers….At this time, I have no membership plan but, have a credit that they gave me due to one of the books I purchased a few years ago disappeared from my Library.. I bet you that if I do sign up to the $14.95 membership that it will kick in…I think that that is the difference. I trully appreciate what you do for email lists for those of us that are not that savy with many of computer and phone teck. Andy and Shubert
