Re: Audible.com
Hi Andy,
Sorry my Audible subscription link didn't work. I'm always a bit leery of providing links when I'm signed into an online account because they often don't work for others. I'd suggest you contact Audible directly using their contact form website found here:
Otherwise, you can call them directly at (888) 283-5051 with your subscription questions.

Hi Allan, I don't see anything on any subscriptions except Audible escape, romance books that you borrow or 1 credit of the regularmembership for $14.95. I am looking at another audio book club that you can download unlimited books for free for the first month and $19.95 per month each month after. It says that you can read the books on the computer or any other means... Not sure how the books are formatted though. I am tempted to check it out... Andy and Shubert

Andrew,
I'm reposting my previous message in html format in order to keep the link from breaking when it spans more than one line. Here is the link to the Audible website to which I was taken when checking my account for membership plans:
https://www.audible.com/account/switch?ref=a_account_o_c2_account_detail_swi tch_membership <https://www.audible.com/account/switch?ref=a_account_o_c2_account_detail_sw itch_membership&pf_rd_p=935889bd-1b43-4bad-b2ac-246de54598d0&pf_rd_r=FSNNFSB 228SPT78Q1Y4H> &pf_rd_p=935889bd-1b43-4bad-b2ac-246de54598d0&pf_rd_r=FSNNFSB228SPT78Q1Y4H
They still seem to have gold and platinum annual and monthly membership plans.
And in case the above link gets messed up again, here's a TinyURL link to the same site:

Desktop Shortcut Problem
David Kingsbury
HI all,
Windows 10, JAWS 2020
In recent weeks, I have frequently heard “unavailable” when hitting a desktop shortcut. Especially the Downloads, Documents, and a few other folders. Only folders, not shortcuts to programs or web pages. Does anybody have similar problems? Does anybody have a solution? It happens quite frequently and is very annoying. And I know the desktop shortcuts have been put in correctly, so that’s not the problem.
Thanks for any help on this, David

Thanks Richard. I have an account currently and it doesn’t offer me anything but the escape membership or the $14.95 per credit per month. Maybe I’ll try that and see if it kicks in other offers….At this time, I have no membership plan but, have a credit that they gave me due to one of the books I purchased a few years ago disappeared from my Library.. I bet you that if I do sign up to the $14.95 membership that it will kick in…I think that that is the difference. A couple of Jaws problems
Dennis Brown
Hi, How do I get the Delete key to say “Delete?” Second, When I put a script in MyExtensions.jss, then compile, then compile the default.jss (since it calls MyExtensions.jsb,) the script doesn’t work. If I put it directly in Outlook script file, it does. Other scripts in MyExtensions work, but some don’t. I’ve made sure the keystroke isn’t being used elsewhere, but still no go. Any ideas?

You can use the touch cursor to glean certain info -- I've found that that works, but it is a pain. I feel I used to get more info from jAWS using vlc, and I'm not quite sure what has changed. There were always finnicky weird things, like going into advanced preferences sometimes resulting in the dialogue not reading properly, but now I can't get much feedback the standard way. Weird. Still use it all the time for videos though of course.

Seems to me that Vlc with Jaws isn’t that accessible? I did a Jaws+h command, but I didn’t get any kind of help info. Can you with Jaws and Vlc, see how long the audio is, how much time Elapsed and other info, maybe with Jaws scripts? Thanks for experiences you guys might have with this combo. nVDA still won't read preferences etc though for me. Does it work for you? Otherwise, yeah there is certainly more feedback for status and things like that.

I have no trouble with Winamp and the latest build of windows 10, and I use it for audio -- but I play a lot of vieos and VLC is hands down the best player I have found for that. There's a lot of power under the hood and really I've only scratched the surface.

There are masses of keystroke which work with VLC - in particular I love the ability to speed up and slow down podcasts on the fly but I agree that there is a big gap for scripts providing information. I have looked in vain for VLC scripts. As a guide to what could be done you only have to load the NVDA VLC addon which completely transforms VLC information feedback. For example or all the information you require you only have to press the I key. Often I quit Jaws when I am going to be using VLC as the experience is so much better supported. to given that WinAmp is increasingly unsupported and to some extent obsolete, I moved to VLC as WinAmp kept on crashing under Windows 10, and failed to play some streams that VLC had no problem with, it seems utterly bizarre that Jaws provides no support for VLC at all. Office.com with JAWS
Sharon Clark
Hello,
Since working from home, my agency has us using office.com to access our emails. Are there any shortcut keys or sufficient ways of navigating this online platform using JAWS?
Thank You, Sharon
